I called today and spoke with A & A and inquired about getting a technician on site again. One of the doors keeps coming off track. When I asked for an appointment at 5 pm since I get off of work at 4:30 I was informed that anything after 4 pm is considered an «emergency after-​hours call and would incur an additional fee».
So I had 3 choices:
1) Take a day off work.
2) Pay the after-​hours fee for an emergency service call that is neither after-​hours or an emergency.
3) Find a company that wants to ‘earn’ their fees.
I chose #3 !!!
Another company will be out tomorrow at 5:30. No service call fee. No after-​hours or emergency fee. Most likely it’s an adjustment and possible an inexpensive part. I was quoted $ 69 labor plus any parts.
I had A & A out to the house once before and they made the repairs no problem. I think they adjusted the chain and track. Not too complex. And it worked for a couple of years. I don’t remember any after-​hours/​emergency call fee for appointments after 4. They also are not open on Saturday. So this forces the average homeowner in to these extra fees. Which is ridiculous!
My HVAC company, appliance repairman and plumber ALL work on Saturday and ONLY charge an extra after-​hours fee if it’s after 7 pm.
