Decent place but overpriced and a very limited selection. Have only purchased spirits, although wine seems to be their main focus. Without exaggeration, every time I visit the average bottle of tequila has increased… you used to be able to find Espolon, El Jimador, and other quality(non Cuervo) under $ 30 bottles. Now it’s various forms of Patron and other $ 50+.

Good selection if you want to get something better. Also stock the smaller bottles of Yellowtail and similar wines that are good and $ 7 or $ 8 a bottle. Some stores don’t stock them. If you want help, they’ll give it to you.(Though, I really never know, at any store, if they are unloading extra stock, or that it is good wine.)

Ok, clearly this is a much needed wine & liquor store on Austin Street with a nice selection of wine & spirits; however, the gentleman at the cash register(I assume the owner since he had such an air of arrogance) was incredibly rude to my best friend. I stood there with my mouth literally open aghast as he scolded my best friend for taking off the price sticker as he was paying for the bottle of wine & Baileys he was purchasing. My best friend explained we were going to a party & they were gifts & it’s tacky to leave the price on & the man just rolled his eyes at him & said, «I’ll take them off if you had just asked! What kind of place do you think this is? I have a razor to do it!» So incredibly snarky was this man’s tone I almost said something but decided to not get involved. My best friend then asked for one sleeve to wrap the wine in the man then asked, «Do you want to pay for them separately & put them in two different bags?» I mean, dude, c’mon! No need to be a d-bag here! Whatever!

It’s a decent neighborhood liquor store with a pretty good selection. They have most of the big name wines but their South American, Aussie, NZ selections are very limited, which is expected for Queens. Their prices are also a bit higher than others probably due to their location on Austin.

I first discovered this little slice of Queens Heaven when I was wandering around Austin Street last June. I was looking for a gift for my father’s birthday — and as a wine aficionado, he really appreciates a good bottle of wine. The first time I went, last June, I knew what I was looking for and I was in and out of the store right away. The second time I went was a few weeks ago for Christmas. I really wanted a bottle of Malbec wine from the Mendoza region of Argentina, but as hard as I looked, the only thing that I found was a $ 32 of Malbec from Salta. Salta is not known for its wine like Mendoza is, so I asked the clerk for help. He immediately pointed out bottles, explained the best way to drink them. The reason I know he was telling the truth about the taste, besides looking them up on my iPhone, was that he was pointing out bottles that were cheaper! Cheaper? Yep. That is what makes a great store — they are not only wine savants, but they are also loyal and honest. If you’re ever in Western Queens and are looking for a good bottle of wine, you should definitely make a stop here.

I have lived in Forest Hills for over 11 years now. For the first 9 there was not a liquor store to be found on Austin St. About two years ago, my dream came true. The peeps at TW&SC are very friendly, knowledgeable, and have a great selection of wines. Every day they have a new«question of the day» up on a board, challenging patrons to actually think. I think it’s their version of a sobriety test. I usually fail. Oh, and buy 6 bottles of wine and get 7thFREE(about the same value of the ones you bought). Why would I buy 6 bottles in first place you ask? If you have to ask you obviously haven’t seen me at any Unilocal events!
