Yesterday I purchased a pair of slippers for $ 5.99 from Value Depot. When I got home I tried them on and realized there was no way I would be able to walk in them, the bottom was too stiff, so I packed them back up in the bag with the receipt. Today, less than 24 hours later, I went back to return them. The cashier looked at them and told me that they were worn. I told her they weren’t worn, I tried them on and I can’t wear them, which is why they are being returned. She argued with me, showing me the bottom(which looked the same to me as the bottom of all of the slippers in their store). She then left her«post» to show the manager. At this point, I was wondering whether the frustration was worth the $ 5.99. The manager agreed with her and stated that they were worn. I said, I have the receipt, they were purchased yesterday, I was at work all day today, when did I wear these? He showed me what looked like one dog or cat hair on the bottom of one slipper. He said you have dog hair on here. I said I don’t have a dog and removed the one hair. The bottom of the slippers were now pristene. He still stated that they were worn, but he would give me my money back. SO, bottom line, I was told I was a liar, humiliated, and late on my lunch hour returning back to work. Needless to say, I will never go in Value Depot again. The way they treated me was disgusting. I truly wish there was some other avenue to report them. I am hoping that anyone reading this will think twice about giving their business to a store with a staff that enjoys treating their customers in such a revolting manner.

I’ve gotten some pretty good bargains there over the years — and like someone else said, you get what you pay for. When I am looking for top-of-the-line quality, I don’t shop here. Having said that though, they would get a higher rating if not for an incident today. I bought a whole bunch of stuff and while they did automatically double bag my package when I asked them for 2 blue bags they started arguing with me. They said they were all the same and I said that if that were the case, why were they arguing. The manager came over and rather than merely instruct the cashier to give me the blue bag, HE started arguing with me as well. I finally got what I wanted but not without a unnecessary hassle. I am not one who believes that the customer is always right but in this case it was so trivial, why didn’t they just give me what I asked for without the argument. This won’t stop me from shopping there again but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Great bargains but clothes smell like they’ve been in a wet area.

I stopped in, hoping to find funky cheap ANYTHING but onlysaw racks and racks of clothing ready so unappealing, that if I owned it, I’d donate it. They carry a brand of men’s shirts called Ten West — what is wrong with this picture? I walked out empty-handed but I’ll be back… perhaps today was an off-day?

Look around and find a few things that are less expensive than you would expect. It is what it is.

Upon moving in as a newbie Forest Hillser to start a new life, once upon a lifetime ago with my former love, we purchased a sauté pan at $ 14.99 and a 28 cm stir fry pan at $ 22.99 in need of something temporary until we had enough funds for Simply II by Calphalon. The junkie quality of both cookwares disintegrated after possessing both for only five measy months!
