Member of the bar since 1979. Admitted to practice New York State, US District Courts Southern and Eastern District of New York, US Courts of Appeals for 2nd and 3rd Circuits, US Supreme Court. St. John’s University School of Law, J.D., cum laude, 1978; Herbert H. Lehman College (formerly Hunter College in the Bronx), B.A., 1968; Bronx High School of Science, 1964. Ray is a commercial litigator and internet law attorney with extensive experience in business law, copyright, trademark, entertainment, libel, slander, internet, computer software, business torts, and other areas, and has litigated hundreds of cases. He began his legal career with Phillips, Nizer, Benjamin, Krim & Ballon, working his way through night law school, and upon graduation becoming an attorney in that firm. I had the pleasure of consulting Ray on an intellectual property issue. Ray is extremely friendly and professional. Before I arrived, he asked me to email him the relevant docs so he can review them beforehand. So when I got there, we jumped straight into the good stuff with no time wasted. Ray even checked the story with his west coast associates, before I arrived, and dug up on the opposing law firm to see exactly who we’re dealing with. All this due diligence for a free consultation!
Above all, unlike many lawyers out there, Ray does not resort to using scare tactics, and blow up all the horrendous things that can happen to you if you don’t retain his services here and now. Instead, he tells you like it is, unbiased and no pressure, even when that does not translate directly into $$$ fees for him. In fact, when you speak to Ray, you can’t help but confide like you’re speaking to a family or friend. He is not stingy about imparting his legal knowledge or experience, and genuinely feels like he has your best interest in mind.

I worked at Philips, Nizer, Benjamin, Krim and Ballon back in 1978 through 1981 in their records department. Ray Beckerman was a young associate back then and was one of the friendliest and down to earth attorneys in the entire firm. Ten years later when I started, with a Venezuelan businessman, an international telecommunications company I turned to Ray to help us incorporate the company and also be the corporation’s US attorney. Ray was very instrumental in helping us launch and sustain our company. Throughout the years when I need an attorney I know I can trust Ray Beckerman. Most recently I used him again when I started another international venture in 2009. as a law firm you’d expect a atmosphere that is welcoming and understanding but instead i got rudeness and attitude. i had an appointment with Ray Beckerman himself, i had called to say i would be late and while on my way to meet with him he calls me and is clearly not happy with my commute time then goes on to tell me and i quote «i think we should cancel this, go back, turn around and go call to get a new referral» we live in NYC traffic will be crazy in the afternoon everyone knows this, i am also coming from another borough that alone takes me 2 hours to get to his location on train alone. i was so upset and angry that i just had to hang up the phone on him. i am dealing with a sensitive business matter that needs to handled as soon as possible and i have to also deal with an unprofessional law firm? i would not suggest Ray Beckerman to anyone, i cant speak for his partner but i mean lets be serious, with the mans name on the firm i cant trust that anyone in that office up holds a strong standard of professionalism.
