Our physicians are board-​certified ophthalmologists and optometrists who have earned national reputations as top clinicians and educators. We offer treatments for cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, corneal disorders, retinal detachments, uveitis and dry eye syndromes. Our specialists are trained in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelid. Our surgeons utilize Botox and the latest fillers for facial rejuvenation. Our practice provides comprehensive examinations for eyeglasses, contact lenses and laser vision correction.

History

Established in 1988.

Dr. Mark Fromer’s stepfather, Dr. Mamelok, first opened the 115 E. 61st Street office in New York City.

In 1988 Mark Fromer, M.D. joined the practice, followed by his sister Dr. Susan Fromer in 2000. Over the years many advances in ophthalmology have taken place and Fromer Eye Centers have an active role in bringing excellence in eye care to the New York area.

Our doctors are on the cutting edge of the latest surgical techniques and treatment options. Our physicians lecture on regional and national levels to further the knowledge of fellow physicians.

Fromer Eye Centers is committed to the future of eye care, and to providing expert medical care with compassion. Dr. Mark Fromer is an Honorary Police Surgeon and the Eye Surgeon Director for the New York Rangers (National Hockey League).

Business Owner

Dr. Fromer specializes in laser vision correction procedures including LASIK (laser assisted in-​situ keratomileusis) and PRK (photo-​refractive keratectomy). Dr. Fromer performs no-​stitch cataract surgery, and has been performing laser surgery for glaucoma, diabetic retinal disease, and age related diseases of the retina since 1988.

Dr. Mark Fromer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been board-​certified since 1988. After his undergraduate education at Hebrew University and Michigan State University, where he earned highest honors, Dr. Fromer earned his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School (UMDNJ). He then completed his internship and residency training at St. Vincent’s Hospital & Medical Center of New York, as well as a vitreoretinal fellowship in trauma and diabetic eye care at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital.

Dr. Fromer is the Eye Surgeon Director for the New York Rangers (National Hockey League) and the World Oyama Karate Organization.
