History

Established in 1965.

Abco locksmith company is founded by Alan Glick in the year 1965. After coming out of the army I worked for places such as Mel’s key shop and Admiral Locksmith until I decided to open my own shop in Forest Hills Queens, and I have been servicing the area since. I have built a great relationship with the community, many of the buildings went up while I was doing locksmith services. Our shop was located on Austin Street for close to 40 years, currently we have moved around the corner onto continental avenue close to queens blvd into the alley way next to the game stop store. This is also known as the mini mall. Currently I have 5 licensed locksmith working with my company, my locksmiths are experts in all locksmith work. Many of our loyal customers have found us in the mini mall, we have continued to receive great support from our community, people still call us for their emergency locksmith service and we have continued to give great service to all the members of the community.

Manager

Omar is the general manager of Abco 24 hours emergency locksmith. Omar joined abco in 2007 and ever since he has brought a more deeper and more involved knowledge into our company“s group. In addition to Omar I have Raule who is another one of my technician. The two man team have completed jobs that no one else in the industry could have completed. Both Omar and Raule are able to advise our clients with the best options when it comes to home security and lock work. If you have questions about locks, doors, cameras, handy man work just call and Omar will help you out. There is nothing in the home service arena that Omar can not do so please feel free to check him or Raule at our shop or on the phone.

excellent service. we had two doors that needed new locks — a deadbolt and a standard door lock each. friendly, gave great suggestions, explained the process as he went along. about 2 hours to get four locks replaced start to finish, including replacing plating and fixing some issues with the door and knob from the last installation which was apparently not professionally done. prices were very fair and at the end he threw in a «new homeowner» discount and saved us some cash. couldn’t have been better service.

Horrible service. The previous experiences I’ve had with this store have been great, where I’ve had to purchase a lock or get a cylinder swapped out.
However, my most recent experience, which consisted of a consultation and installation of 3 locks has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The consultation went perfectly fine. I thought that Omar provided good recommendations and variables that made sense for us.
The quoted amount was not cheap, coming just a tad under $ 1k.
On the day of install, we felt that he had no regard for our home, by dropping tools and hardware on our prewar wooden floors. The work itself was ok on 2 doors but there is one that is a bit loose.
At that rate, I expected the work to be close to perfection and for my home to be not treated so poorly. After all, it is my home that we are protecting. Overall the locks are fine but the way tools were carelessly strewn left a bad taste in my mouth. Recommended for basic security needs but not for servicing at your home.

They showed up on time, were cordial and professional, gave me a crazy reasonable estimate, replaced my broken lock, left me a receipt WITH a warranty for the new lock, and were on their way in less than 30 minutes. SPECTACULAR experience.

I was locked out so I call ABCO locksmith. Believe it or not the guy came with in 5 minutes open the door for me and I was able to get in the car. I like their service. They are quick and very fair prices. One of my relative recommended to me.

My sister had fallen and pulled her back and could not move and had been on the floor for 7 hours before reaching me.
Her key was in the apt and I didn’t have my spare, I called today on a Sunday at 7:00 am and was greeted warmly and advised a locksmith would be sent to me in 15 mins, I showed up at my sisters and sure enough the Locksmith was their within 15 mins.
He did try to open the bottom lock without drilling but that didn’t work «medeco lock»
He drilled and replaced a new cylender and 3 keys within 15 mins if that.
I didn’t mention that the extra key was in the apt and so I had to pay for the additional.
I found the actual door nob to be very sloppy as a plate was not put back and anything can crawl into the door-​nob, however, considering I had my sister laying on the floor in pain, I let it go.
All in all for a Sunday Morning Emegency and the problem was resolved quickly for $ 300.00
I would recommend the company and use them again, although, I would appraciate a receipt in the future as I paid cash.

I purchased a coupon on Unilocal ($ 100 for the value of $ 150) enough to cover 2 regular cylinders not Medco locks and 2 sets of keys. Price is pretty steep in my opinion.
4 stars for the service. Omar was prompt and helpful. He explained the options.

Went here based on a friend’s recommendation. I’m so glad I did! Received great and expedite service. Customer service has not gone by the wayside. Omar was helpful, nice and friendly. So I broke my door frame and found these guys on the internet. Super quick response, very professional, and most importantly really good at what they do. They came to my place to inspect the damage, gave me a time estimate and price quote, and scheduled a visit to do the repair.
Very very quick and responsive service with excellent quality of work. They fixed my door frame in 3 hours while I was at work in the morning! I was so happy to come home and find that my door frame looks like new again! Their super work ethic is proof of their commitment and integrity in doing their job and delivering superior service.
If you want a professional to fix your door, these guys are the right company to call. (And speak with Omar because he was my point of contact and he is amazing!)

ABCO Locksmith is one of those places that you need to write a review for. They are highly knowledgeable and very helpful. I have gone to them for locks a few times and they always tell me exactly what i need nothing more. They never try to upsell me and tell me when I’m over buying. They even do windows. Be aware they have moved to 5 continental ave in forest hills.

As I’d installed my own locks before, I went here looking to buy a lock for my new apartment. Alan was very nice and helped me pick out the right one.
Well, lo and behold, my new apartment door had some cockamamie holes drilled that didn’t match standard locks. I attempted to improvise to make it work and locked myself out because it in fact was not aligned properly. Naturally I had left everything inside. I hadn’t actually moved in yet, and I was now without the keys to my old apartment, my phone, my credit cards, MetroCard and everything else I had with me. Genius, huh?
I ran back to Abco in a panic and he was so helpful and patient with my freakout. He wasn’t able to get a locksmith over immediately, but luckily I found a building porter who was able to get the door open using brute force. However, I appreciated how much assistance I was given and how patient Alan was, despite how much of his time I wasted.

I went to ABCO to get a personal item of mine fixed and was assisted by Raule. Raule provided great customer service. He fixed my item in very quickly and was also just really friendly and funny. There is no other Locksmith I’d rather go to than ABCO. They are the best.
Also, be aware that ABCO is located at 5 Continental Ave, Forest Hills, NY. They said this is a rather new location.

After my bag was stolen with everything in it, Abco came to the rescue and not only came on time and quickly changed locks on two doors but also replaced old screws on the old doors (clearly not a lock issue!). The tenants downstairs needed 6 sets of keys and Omar went back to the shop to make them (at 10:30 at night). He was a really great guy and totally eased our worries that someone had our address and keys to the house. I had a small problem with one of the replaced locks and they returned quickly the next day and remedied the issue. I think they went above and beyond with service, Omar even came back with the code card for when we need to make additional sets of the front door security lock.

I messed up the lock to my front door thinking that I could change out the lock myself. Now my lock is a very old and it’s very hard to find parts for it. After a week of not finding a solution, I came here by referral from my building. Turns out that was the best move I’ve made. He was able to repair my lock and now it works perfectly. I wish I had found this place earlier and avoided all the trouble I went through. Will be back if I ever need a locksmith again…

Extremely fast service. Walked into their new location, Forest Hills Mall side pedestrian path off Continental Ave, to inquire about getting a new cylinder lock.
Within 1 hour they were at my apartment and it was installed. Additionally, Raule the installer spent several minutes with me going over the latest security measures without trying sell additional services. He did ask for me to comment on Unilocal,and, I am happy to do so.
For the review that complained about the price, please reconsider. Value should not be based on the time it takes someone to deliver the service, rather the quality and difficulty of that service. I would think you might thank someone for showing you how vulnerable your property is instead of complaining that it only took 2 minutes to get in.

It was the evening of the «polar vortex» snow storm and low and behold, I managed to lock myself out of my apartment due to a busted lock. Fortunately, ABCO was open as opposed to the other two competing businesses I tried calling that evening.
They sent a technician to my building within the hour, despite the terrible weather. He was able to get me inside my home with minimal damage to the cylinder of the lock and also repairing it for reuse. He was very professional, knowledgable, and also presented options for replacing the cylinder of the other deadbolt in my door.
I don’t know of any competing costs for the same service to compare with, but I believe it was well worth it.

I needed to make a copy of a medeco key. I had called other locksmiths who confirmed over the phone they could make the copy only to find out they couldn’t when I went there in person.
After exhausting all my options nearby I decided to trek out to Forest Hills. When I reached their location there was sign saying they had moved… Luckily it was only a block away (FYI their new address is 5 Continental Ave.)
The guy (Omar I believe was his name) working there at the time was extremely helpful. Also, the cost to make the copy was only $ 12.50 — Other locksmiths had quoted me in the $ 20-​$ 30 range. While waiting for my key to be made I noticed the combination master locks being sold for only $ 7. The same ones that I paid $ 10 in high school over a decade ago! So I picked up one of those as well.

Speedy service, showed up in 20 minutes on a Sunday afternoon for an emergency, bottom lock wouldn’t lock from inside/​outside. First time replaced since moved in 6 years ago.
Charged me $ 165 to replace the lock, gave a $ 25 tip.
Preferred cash but was ok with a check, made payable to ‘cash.’ I didn’t get a receipt.
I think I got ripped off. Maybe I should have called around for estimates.
