I used Jeff a bunch of times over the last several years to work on my computer because it was slow, or to install programs, and to migrate data over from an old computer to a new computer.
A slow computer just drives me nuts and I would normally look into buying a new computer when my computer starts running slow. The one problem I keep running into when I change computers is the programs I like to use and have gotten used to are not always compatible with the latest version of windows installed on the new computer (that is something to think about for those of you who just want to go out and buy a new computer to solve your issues). Not to mention the data transfer is tedious and time consuming.
So, it’s not always as simple as just buying a new computer and I guess it’s worth noting that computers are somewhat like cars they do need a little work every now and then and if you’re like me and not very tech savvy then chances are you will need the advice or help of someone like Jeff. When it comes to getting a new computer for our small office I to just have him set it up because it seems no matter what I touch when it comes to computers it just goes wrong.
The last job he did for me was setting our office up on a network with a windows server. This has served our office very well to aid in having all the computers hooked up to a central printer and sharing files. Setting up a network for our small office (which consists of three computers and a laptop) was something I thought I could do myself. But, as usually I drastically over estimate my abilities when it comes to computers and I didn’t even attempt it luckily.
Under Jeff’s advisement I bought a small server (which I would have spent a lot more if I were to do this on my own) and left in his hands. In about a half a day (maybe a little more) he had everything up and running and now all the computers are getting scheduled backups and I feel a lot more safe knowing I will not lose all my data in the event one of my hard drives dies on me.
