George’s Shell

I took my Ford F-​250 to George’s Shell for service. The service I received was exceptional! I was met by friendly and professional team members who quickly checked me in. A team member provided me with a ride home while others kept me informed of the progress of my truck. From start to finish the employees at George’s Shell were courteous, professional and caring. To top it off, they gave me a military discount. Thanks for taking care of me and my truck! I’ll definitely be back.

Bought Porsche in AZ. Needed to smog it. Went to a pass-or-don’t pay. They connected their equipment to my car and said it would not pass since the cat monitors were not set. At the time didn’t even know want that meant. Anyway, they told me to drive it 40 miles and come back. Did that, again smog monitors had not reset. Did twice with same result. Went to a Porsche dealer in Riverside — same thing, drive the car. Same result: cat monitors not set. Got appointment with CA. smog referee. After looking at the engine, hooking up devices to the car and idling the car for 45 minutes; I was told the car did not pass: one of the cat monitors was not set. I knew that going in! I thought the referee could make an independent judgement in these matters? Was informed by the referee I could go to the Porsche dealership, if they could not set the monitors, and after consulting their «tech department» and determining that nothing else could be done to set the monitors, I could contact DMV, send the results to Sacramento, get another appointment with the smog referee, and he would sign off on the smog certificate.
Went to the Riverside Porsche dealership. They told me the cats were going bad and that was why the monitors would not set. New cats would set the monitors. Price? $ 1800 per catalytic converter. It was now that I thought about George’s Shell. They had smogged a BMW I had that required new cats and O2 sensors for $ 1200. At the time that amount just about floored me, but now it was looking pretty good. Doug told me that before he did any work on the car he would have evaluate the condition of the catalytic converters and proceed from there. I told him I was willing to go up to $ 600 for each converter; he basically told me to relax till he could do his evaluation. About an hour later I got a call — my car had passed inspection! Cost– $ 64!

I was amazed by the level of professionalism displayed by the staff of this reputable automotive repair store. I took my 2008 Camry in for a brake job, Heather the front desk lady was cordial and professional, she is very knowledgeable about the whole process. She helped out with the estimate and how long it will take to get the job done. I was a little bit hesitant because that would be my first time not taking my car to a dealership. To fast forward, I got my brakes, my service and smog done at a very reasonable price. After I picked up my car I noticed there was a noise coming from the front driver side wheel, I called and spoke to Jessica, another awesome front desk lady, she told me to bring the car in and I did, they found out the bearing plate was the problem, and I said they will have to fix it since they just did my brakes and they replaced all the struts. She told me that would be their owners call… The owner Doug is an amazing young me who knows how to treat customers. I had a conversation with him and he said he would fix the problem free of charge and that’s what he did. My gratitude goes out to all the people at George’s shell auto repair, they are the best in the business as far as I’m concerned. Went several times for minor service. AAA rated which is something that we trust. NEVER AGAIN! Scene: Slow leak in right rear tire after an 800 Mi. trip. Taken in on Wednesday. Diagnosis: Can’t be repaired due to tread wear and location of leak. Needs to be replaced. OK. Must replace both so that they match. OK. Price quote: NOT OK but necessary due to commute distance. Original tires after 78,000 miles. Replace ALL TIRES DUE TO MILEAGE. 1^st GLITCH: don’t have, must order, be ready tomorrow. OK, still have a day before the weekend when we will be out of town. 2^nd GLITCH, next day. OOPS, we ordered the wrong tires. We will have them by 10 a.m. tomorrow (Friday). Way too close to the time that we must leave but they have the car hostage. Friday: WAITED, no call. WAITED, no call. WAITED until NOON and then I called. «Oh, we’re sorry. The tires are on but not aligned, but we washed it for you so it’s all nice and pretty». Did not receive a call before our departure time so we were forced to drive a not so fuel efficient vehicle. Monday: Still no notification so I went down there and PICKED UP MY CAR (YES, it was FINALLY ready!) Sorry Doug, this one slipped WAY through the cracks!

Ok I have to change my rating here. I had a great experience at first, then I went back twice.
1^st time I took another car in to get smogged. Waited for most of the day and did not hear back. Called them and found out one of my tires had a bubble in it and they would not smog it. A simple call sooner would have allowed me to get it fixed earlier.
But the real kicker for us was when my wives car broke. and it was bad enough she either needed to replace or rebuild the engine. We could not afford the amount they wanted for either and shopped around. This was not an ambush thing we told them that was what we were doing. Found someplace that we had good reviews from friends with and they were considerably less expensive so we advised George’s. the front seats of the car had parts just piled on the floor (there was plastic down) we felt it was like the technicians there threw a bit of a tantrum and just tossed them in there. We have not been back and will not go back.

I came here to get my Mazda 3 and its Check Engine Light (CEL) read. I had the CEL read at another shop but decided to try this place to see what all the decent reviews were about. Well needless to say there is a diagnosis charge and kind of steep at around 89 I believe. I was willing to pay the charge since this place was starting to get somewhere with my CEL. They got on the phone and told me there was a Technical Service Bulletin release for my car and suggested to replace a purge solenoid valve which cost around 200+. The reason it cost so much was the part itself came from the Mazda dealer. We all know how that goes…
I looked up the part online and it only cost around 90 bucks. I let them know my concerns, however I was assured by Heather, who is great by the way, this would solve my problem and was backed by a two year warranty. So I agreed to the repair. They fixed my Mazda in a timely manner, and I have not had any problems with the solenoid valve since. (Almost a year out)
These guys are great and are currently working on my Mazda 3 for an unrelated repair. I will update with another review soon.

Let me tell you why…
We took our car into George’s for an oil change. During the service they noticed a leak from the power steering pump. We told them to replace it, which they did. We drove the car over the weekend with no problems, then noticed the power steering was going in and out.
We took the car back to them and they decided to replace the pump again thinking that might be it. After a test drive, it still had the same issue. They did further investigation and discovered the pressure switch in the rack and pinion was bad.
At that point we decided to take the car to the dealer since the rack and pinion was covered under our warranty. The dealer said that George’s had put transmission fluid in the pump, instead of power steering fluid, and therefore the rack and pinion would not be covered under warranty.
This is where George’s started to really shine. We contacted George’s, and Heather decided to make some phone calls to research the issue. She called the sales rep at B&G fluids (where they get their fluids from), and she contacted the service manager at the dealer to explain to them that the correct fluid was used.
B&G contacted the dealer to notify them the correct fluid was used. Then the dealer said they found metal filings in the rack and pinion, and would’ve cover the repair.
George’s contacted the dealer, and arranged to have a rep and analyst come out from the extended warranty company to analyze the rack and pinion. They found no problem with the fluid, and said the metal filings were due to the issue with the pump and power steering, and the repair should be covered.
Then the dealer said they would not replace the power steering pump because it was already replaced by a third party. George’s decided to offer to bring them a new pump for the dealer to install. The new pump was installed, along with the new rack and pinion.
Before the dealer decided to replace the rack and pinion, Doug (George’s She’ll owner) called us and apologized for the issues we had had. He said if the dealer didn’t replace the rack and pinion for us, he would do it free of charge. He said he wanted us to feel at ease and know that we were going to be taken care of. It was such a load off our minds. I start to cry again just thinking about his generosity.
Also during this time the car was towed three times because of the confusion; two of which George’s paid for. Also the whole time this was going on we were driving a loaner car from George’s that they offered to us for free.
So in the end, George’s paid for two power steering pumps, two tows, a loaner car, and made several calls above and beyond what a service station would normally do. But most of all they made us feel valued, and treated us like family. That is not common in this day and age.
They have earned our loyalty for life. Thank you George’s Shell!

I always stop by George’s Shell for gas and refreshments. The place is clean, inside and out. The prices are reasonable and they even have a coupon here in Unilocal you can use. It’s One of the best mom and pop shops left in Fontana. I’m a loyal customer of this fine establishment. Thumbs way up.

I called the day before to make an appointment for an oil change. I told the lady I would be waiting as I have two kids and didn’t have a ride. She said ok come in at 9:30. I show up on time and was asked if I was getting picked up that it was gonna be a few hours. I was then told they had a lot of cars and even if made an appointment it would still be 2 hours… For an oil change. Thanks but no thanks. So unless you have time to kill or a ride don’t bother with this place they aren’t any cheaper than the dealer ! Plus I wasted my time driving there to be told that! Never going there again !!

Great service and friendly faces! They’re like family here and I trust them as if they were! They’re also the top shop in the nation according to Motor Age Magazine!!! I believe it!!!

Our 2006 PT Cruiser is used by our youngest daughter to get back and forth to college and work, so it’s important to us that it’s safe and running well. We trust George’s Sierra Shell to do a good job on all of our cars, and the work is always done quickly and with great customer care to boot. We like that they check it top to bottom and in between, and make suggestions for the priority of items to be done now, and some that could wait for later. The shop is always clean and organized, and all the personnel have friendly and welcoming personalities. This is a top quality shop with integrity at the heart of it all.

Got their name and number from a list of AAA approved repair shops on Google after I spoke with a terrible little witch at Rotolo. We’ve lived in this town for 30 years and this is the first time we’ve been here. What a great experience from start to finish (except for a small pricing problem at pick up that was cleared up immediately).
Heather and Jessica were great. Hopefully we won’t have any car problems anytime soon, but when we do, we’ll definately be back.

Wants me to pay for air for a slow leak tire, Rude customer service I would never ever stop there again.

called in to get my car looked at as my AC wasnt blowing cold air. The told me i could come in an hour and they could take a look at it. When i came in they took a look at my car and said my refrigerant was full. Then they took a look at my compressor and found out is wasnt working, they took everything apart and put it back together and everything started working again! awesome job to you guys and would definitely be returning!

As always I am confident bringing my car in for service. If you want a repair shop that you never feel you have to second guess the service recommended this is the shop to go to. I also love that AAA members get a discount on service! Thanks again for assisting my family.

Second time I’ve had my car smog here. The receptionist was incredibly friendly. They got me out in 15 minutes.

I dropped by George’s Shell this Thursday for a smog check. Heather was very helpful in all aspects. Asides from the considerable amount for a smog check, the very friendly staff of george;s shell made a big difference. I had a very pleasant experience talking to the owner, George today on the phone. We talked a grat deal about business, customers and the joys of running a small business. What struck me about him was his honesty, hard work and commitment to an otherwise unglamorous routine repair center. I have to say my world has gotten a bit smaller and would recommend this shop to anyone looking for personalized professional auto repair.
