Surprisingly good! When other Folsom restaurants had a 45 minute wait on Sunday morning, we said let’s try Mel’s. We were seated immediately by a friendly staff. The breakfast menu’s extensive. Sometimes that’s not good — you end up choosing from many mediocre things. However, the ‘homemade corned beef hash’ sounded good. I’d have to say it’s some of the best corned beef hash I’ve had. Oven roasted corned beef that had a nice crust, cut into perfect cubes. Other ingredients were very fresh and it was all well seasoned and prepared. Poached eggs were perfect. My wife’s omelette was also very good. The staff here is incredible. They take a team approach — when one person’s busy, others step in. Despite the restaurant being busy, water and coffee were always refilled promptly with friendly service. All-in-all, it was an excellent breakfast.

The music machine is fun. The service was fine and the water was good. I ordered a veggie omelette which came with potatoes. Neither had any flavor and i didn’t want to waste calories so i didn’t eat it. My boyfriend had prime rib, mashed potatoes, vegetables, a salad and a vanilla shake. The server noticed i didn’t eat anything and asked if i wanted to swap it out for something so i decided to try a veggie quesadilla. The prime rib was average. The vegetables tasted like they were boiled and had no flavor and the mashed potatoes tasted stale and were an odd texture and when they cooled down they turned hard and crusty. The salad was average. The vanilla shake tasted like a frosty. My quesadilla was crispy like it was deep fried and had no flavor. I had 2 bites and was done. I paid $ 30 and left hungry.

EXCELLENTFOOD!!! And always great service. The staff and cook actually CARE about food quality, and it shows. Amazing dish! I had the melburger cheddar on bun, fries were golden, crisp and perfect. Burger was sublimely good flavorful, fresh onion, 1000 island dressing. wife had denver omellette which was hot, fresh, delicious. Perfect flavor. No grease. Quick and awesome service from bonnie. Stay away from the roseville location on douglas, sloppy undercooked food there 3x times, but this location really has it together. ! Great job. We will be back

Food is almost always good but the service is never as good as Roseville. Today we are sitting in a section where every table is dirty and no one is bothering to bus the tables. Completly gross!!!

We love Mel’s! Delicious breakfast. The only reason I don’t give it a 5 star is because we had a party of 8 and the server was noticeably annoyed. Definitely recommend it though!

Great food at good prices, daily specials are a steal. I have had breakfast here multiple times and have been pleased each time. Can’t couch for other meals though.

The food is consistently great –classic diner food– the staff is always really friendly, speedy and efficient. They have an extensive list of burgers –Graffiti Melburger w/Swiss and sauteed onions is a real winner; the Beefy Cheddar Melt served on thick Texas toast, too(not technically a burger) –and breakfast served all day. And who doesn’t love a jukebox on the table?

Such a nice little restaurant! Food was very good and service was exceptional. The place has a great 70s vibe! This is one of favorite places to go now! Go here!

Absolutely the best place to eat breakfast early in the morning, and some of the friendliest staff you’ll ever meet.

This is an awesome place if you prefer a Retro style restaurant. The place serves you Breakfast all day long, so thats a BIG plus for me. The Juke box is fantastic with every table having access to the Juke box and the catalog of songs are all from the 50’s on. Sit back and enjoy those melodies(you need change in your pocket to play songs). Lastly, do not forget, this is one of the FEW places that sell you the Malts. You’ve gotta try it, it is simply out of this world. Place is very clean, the service very friendly and the check was something we would have spent in a place like Applebees… around $ 30 or so between me and my Girlfriend(this was brunch). Dont forget to take quarters with you for the Juke Box and Make sure you try one of their Malts!

My husband ordered a grilled turkey sandwich and the meat and bread were cold. It was far from grilled. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and the meat was horrible. We won’t be back. Very disappointed

Last Sunday we made a visit to this location, our server was the General Manager himself Marcus. Even though they were busy he was more than willing to accommodate us. It was our last stop on a very busy morning of engagement photos. He cleaned, set us up and ensured our needs were meet. Thanks for the visit.

Friendly service, comfort food & oldies playing non stop are just a few of the things I really enjoy about this restaurant. We only come here at night so there’s never a crowd of people & we always get seated & served our food right away! The sandwiches, burgers, breakfast… Pretty much everything I’ve ordered has been really good! This particular time I had the Cobb salad, hubby had the turkey dip & we shared onion rings. The Cobb salad was HUGE(I barely put a dent into it). Everything was fresh & very yummy. Hubby really liked his turkey dip & they have really good onion rings! Typical comfort diner food :)

Most places don’t like construction workers. They treat us like we are cheap or an inconvenience to deal with. This place was amazing and I was seated right away and served in a timely manner. Every one was nice especially my server Heather. Totally awesome experience and look forward to coming again soon. Food was awesome and the style is very old school but clean and organized. Highly recommend this place.

Stopped in for breakfast while our 4Runner was being serviced across the street. On entry we observed a clean, bright eatery. We were quickly greeted by a friendly young lady and seated at a very clean table. The Mrs ordered a simple two egg and potato plate while I ordered a hot link omelette, Mel’s potatoes, and biscuit/gravy. Our food arrived hot, cooked perfectly. The portions were more than adequate. The coffee cups were kept full during our meal. Overall, the Mrs and I agreed we will add Mel’s to our go-to breakfast place list. Great service and good food.

I just recently moved to Arizona from Folsom. Over the course of the year+ I lived there, I ate at Mels quite often — typically once, twice or more a week. The food is good diner food. What makes this most enjoyable is the wait staff — They’re absolutely great! Seriously can’t thank them enough for having help make my time in Folsom that much more enjoyable with their attitudes and the quality of their service!

Came here at 10:00pm and a female waiter assisted us. She was in a rush to go home and I understand this. We were about to leave and she has this mini-tantrum in the middle of the restaurant. Unnecessary attitude and terrible people skills. I will not mention of this waiters name but please don’t show your customers that you don’t want to be there. Normally I expect Mel’s to have an ecstatic or at least a decently behaved staff but this just ruined my experience here. Hopefully this won’t happen next time we visit.

I always enjoy hanging out here. The servers are friendly. It’s always a fun inviting atmosphere and their true diner experience is a great way to take the edge off of a busy work week. This place is open pretty late into the night so if I get the munchies after work, it’s a great option to stop by. They have defiantly accomplished a true diner feel!

Always open, great place for late night grub and the quality of the food is always consistent(and good). Whenever my friends and I venture out and we’re looking for a spot to eat at 11PM or midnight, Mel’s Diner is our go-to place. Service is good and the food comes out QUICK! I always go for the grilled ham and cheese with fries or with salad, depending on my mood. Also a great place for breakfast ANYTIME of the day! Love coming here and I am thankful there is one in Folsom!
