Totally bummed. Made the trek down to sutter street on our bikes with hopes to put in an order for our wedding cake. They were closed! Hours here on Unilocal say they are open till 6pm on Sundays and on their business door says they are open till 3:30 on Sundays. We got down there about 1pm. Very disappointed:(

That pancake and bacon cupcake is amazing! I might be able to round up if there were a discount for a six pack — definitely a little pricey.

I had heard lots of good things about this cupcake shop and since it was walking distance from my salon I decided to duck in and pick up a couple. I had just stuffed myself silly at Cellar so I did not eat my cupcakes until the next day and they were still fresh and really delicious. These cupcakes are big, so definitely split them with a friend or multiple friends if you don’t want a sugar overload.
I got the churro and a peanut butter chocolate cupcake. They have lots of unique flavors to choose from and the churro cupcake even had half a churro on top! I really liked the peanut butter chocolate cupcake too as it even had some peanut butter chips in it.
The shop itself is small but they do have a couple of tables both inside and out. They sell coffee and other treats in addition to cupcakes as well. Service was friendly and helpful and this was a nice little shop. The shop kind of hides behind some columns, but it is in the same building with Xsight Photography, so if you see that then you know you are in the right place.

I wished I lived closer to Folsom! If I did, though, I’d probably gain 25 lbs from the constant visits to Sassy Sweets…
Some people are all about the icing, some are all about the cake. Monique & Crew cater to both! I like moist, flavorful cake that can stand on it’s own without gobs of too-​sweet icing. I purchased a half-​dozen different cupcakes to bring to my neice and her family, and every last cupcake was divine! Nothing was too sugary-​sweet or too over-​frosted. The maple pancake was amazing! I swear you could taste the warm melted butter & maple syrup as if it were dripping off the pancake. Chocolate varieties were perfect, and did not make you feel like you needed a gallon of milk to wash it down. The strawberry tasted like it should… from real strawberries.
The service staff was great too! Very friendly and helpful.

Though I think we are both at fault, I’m putting all the blame on Monique & Daniel & Co for having to spend more time at the gym and less time at the bakery counter.
Every single thing I’ve had from the place is amazing. Their Hostess knockoffs are super. Especially love the Zinger! Bacon/​Maple/​Pancake cupcake? Yes Please! Lemon meringue? I’ll take two! Mexi puff-​pastry shell with berries inside? Fruit is good for you, right?!
I’ve had many many things from the case at Monique’s. Maybe not every single item hits me at 100%, but every single thing I’ve had is definitely a high-​scorer.

We happened upon this place while we had a weekend get away to Folsom (I know, real far from Natomas) and we needed something sweet for our evening. Two words: CHURRO CUPCAKE!!!
We also got the vegan chocolate raspberry cupcake, which was good, but let’s forget about that. Again, CHURRRRRRRRO (imagine the rolling r’s!) CUPCAKE! When I saw the massive culinary creation of a large brown cupcake topped with white frosting and a horizontal churro as big as my finger, I was intrigued. But I asked Monique (assuming she was Monique with her chef’s coat and the cashier asking her for information) what the cupcake part was and she said it’s like a churro with a spiced cake. To go along with a large iced mocha to hold me over the rest of the afternoon, I was S-​O-​L-​D! I removed the churro and took a bite, then a bite of the cupcake. It was moist, but more dense like a muffin, but I have no complaints, it was close your eyes while they roll in the back of your head good!
Very friendly folks in the small shop, go for the churro cupcake, and go see what the bacon and pancake cupcake is all about if you are into the sweet and savory kick that is going around!

My fiancé and I stumbled upon Sassy Sweets By Monique while exploring Sutter Street. We love desserts so we had to stop in and try something, anything! The different flavors of cupcakes available were impressive– pancakes and bacon, churro, sassy rolo and vanilla latte to name a few.
My fiancé ordered the churro while I decided to try the vegan raspberry chocolate. Now I wish I tried the pancake and bacon after reading all the reviews. There is even a tag in their case that does say that is their best selller! Anyway, the churro cupcake was REALLY delicious! The cupcake itself was almost like muffin– a little heavier than the average cupcake but had a lot of spice, cinnamon and churro flavor. It was topped with a creamy, soft sweet whipped cream and 3 inch churro. I actually liked the churro cupcake more than the vegan raspberry. The vegan raspberry cupcake was good, better than some other vegan cupcakes I’ve had before but it definitely fell in the shadow of the churro cupcake. If i’ve ever in town again I’ll stop by for another cupcake. Four dollars sounds a little pricy but they are worth it– plus there is a $ 1.00 of Unilocal check in offer.

Sassy’s cupcakes are definitely unique. The cupcake itself is very moist and soft, and among the ones I tried, the toppings are softly whipped, not the hard icing you would find in some cupcake places. The topping even go inside the cupcake, so you definitely get your money’s worth. There were 6 – 7 different flavors to choose from when I was there, and so far the pancake and bacon cupcake (with read pancake batter, bacon, and maple syrup) is the best!
They are pretty popular locally, so definitely call ahead to check for availability.

This place probably has the best cupcakes in town, but I rarely come because I think that $ 4 for a cupcake is just too much, especially when you have a little kid with you who is just going to lick all the frosting off. Other than that, they are always clean and friendly and helpful (I can be very indecisive about what kind of cupcake to get).
I just tried one of their maple bacon cupcakes, and it was superb. If you like bacon with your desserts at all, I would highly recommend it. It was kind of like eating the perfect pancake topped with bacon and the best maple syrup ever, all at once. It was the freshest and moistest cupcake I have ever had from a cupcake chain.
I noticed too late that there was a $ 1 off check-​in offer. Darn :(

These were some of the richest and softest cupcakes ever. We do tastings at home when we try a new cupcake place so we each got a quarter of each cake. They were so good but rich that not all of the remaining ¼ths got eaten.
These were still good the next day. We all had different ideas about which one was our fave. All were liked. We will surely be back and I’m adding them to my Facebook. Hard to find location on sutter street in old town Folsom. Front door hidden behind a pillar making the place impossible to see. If I hadn’t Unilocaled the address, no way would I have found it. Worth finding.

Purchased a Groupon for this place. I love cupcakes and I don’t get to go to Sutter Street very often. Seemed like a good excuse. Well I cam here with the hubs for a lunch. The location is right next to the parking structure which is convenient. I think the shop is very cute. It’s small so there is little seating inside if you want to have lunch there.
Hubs and I both ordered a chicken sandwich. Took them almost 20 minutes to serve us our food. How could it take 20 minutes to make a simple sandwich? Well apparently they had to microwave the meat. Gross! I could barely stomach my food. We will not be back for their sandwiches. Sorry.
However, their cupcakes are good. Yum! Maple bacon, drool~ Maybe they should just focus on the cupcakes and forget about the sandwiches.

I am not a cupcake connoisseur. That being said, I found the pancake & bacon cupcake out of this world. The flavor was perfect and was better than the actual meal of pancakes & bacon. What a nice treat.

This review is specifically for their breakfast catering. The company I work for has used Sassy Sweets By Monique a few times now to cater our morning breakfast meetings and each time they have done a great job. First with breakfast burritos and then with breakfast bagels. Each time the portions were good and the food was fresh and delicious. Once we were even treated to the maple pancake and bacon cupcake. What a decadent slice of «breakfast heaven» this is ! Imagine a pancake batter cupcake with cream filling infused with maple syrup and topped with maple icing and «real» bacon. What a treat ! I’m sure we’ll be seeing more offerings from them and now I’m encouraged to check out the shop on Sutter Street in Folsom.

Came here to Folsom for a photo shoot appointment in the same building. It was a hot 97 degrees weather and their cold drinks were a perfect treat! We had the Caffé Mocha (iced), Strawberry Fruit Smoothie, and a Caramel Sassy Freeze… all were delicious! Service was fast… we were actually the ones taking a long time to decide from all the yummy choices on their menu. On top of all that we had a 10% off total bill discount for checking in Unilocal! :)
Still have yet to try their cupcakes, breakfast and Signature sandwiches so I’ll definitely be back! Located in Historic downtown Folsom with plenty of parking in back (private lot or garage parking)

I went with a group of 4 because I had a Groupon for $ 16 and another for a half-​dozen cupcakes.
So let’s start with the negative. The service sucked. It was slow. They took so long to ring us up, there was now a line out the door. We were the only ones in the shop at first. The biggest disappointment was that they were out of just about everything. They had about 8 left with walnuts and a handful of mint ones that looked good. I might have come back for those. The breakfast ones were already gone. There were lots of empty plates in the case next to cinnamon roles that looked like they were sitting out for a while and have dried up. The worst part was that they closed early (who closes at 12:30 on a Friday!). The sandwiches were about $ 10 each so that is a little pricey for what you got. You either better get a great sandwich or live in the Bay area.
On the other hand, the sandwiches were amazing. It took almost 20 minutes but I think it was worth it. Two of us ordered the El Cubano; it had an amazing intense flavor. My friends ordered the Le Cubano and Breakfast Sandwich; they were both impressed.
I’ll give this place another try just for the sandwiches alone. I’m really looking forward to trying the Club and the Le Cubano. Maybe they might have cupcakes, they are a bakery after all, and I’ll try them too.

Wow — what a gem we stumbled across in old Folsom. After hearing about a new sweets shop in the area we decided to stop by and try some cupcakes. We were greeted with some beautifully designed display cakes that looked amazing. We ended up getting a bacon pancake and pumpkin cheesecake cupcake. We also added a cinnamon roll for good measure. The cupcakes were the size of muffins and the tastiest ones that I have tried in a while. Honestly, the bacon pancake is now my new favorite. It is like a fresh pancake breakfast in your hand. The cinnamon roll was so fresh that we could cut through it with a fork.
We were recommended to try the cinnamon roll and bacon pancake cupcake warmed up, and it surely took it to another level. Definitely worth a try and we look forward to trying other flavors next time!

Sassy’s is our favorite quick stop! Need some suggestions? Try the sassy Carmella iced, the BLT or grilled cheese, the apple pie a la mode cupcake, the black bottom cupcake (my favorite so far) the bananna-​strawberry cupcake, the quesitos (warmed) the Cubano or Cubana sandwhiches, the cinnamon rolls… that should be enough to get you started…
But it’s not just their food that’s great. Everyone there is cheery and social. This is nice for me because I like to visit when I go in there on my break!

So my ma’s been telling me about this new cupcake place that she’d been seeing. Well, we happened to be carpooling, so we stopped by. The first thing that I noticed upon entering was that the place isn’t filled with the usual frilly, overly– girly decorations. The second thing and most important was the size of the cupcakes. Monique isn’t down with the teeny tiny cupcakes! Her cupcakes are the size of muffins. She can do the mini’s and standard sizes, for any pansies out there, but unless you’re getting some for a kiddie party, go big or go home.
The Pancake ‘n Bacon cupcake is a mainstay here. It’s not like some of these other places that just slap a piece of soggy bacon on the top of a cupcake. Mo has pieces of bacon INSIDE the cupcake with a piece of caramelized maple bacon perched on top of her maple butter cream frosting. Then she drizzles it with maple syrup. Whew, she could’ve stopped right there, but nope she didn’t…
She has the best Red Velvet I’ve had, ever. The cake is moist and the cream cheese isn’t overly sweet. It’s the perfect blend of sweet, but still some tang of cream cheese.
She’s an artist when it comes to blending flavors. She creates a perfect balance when combining flavors that contrast (Blackberry ‘n Brie cupcakes, Strawberry Lemonade, and so many more) with sweet frosting. But it’s not teeth-​aching sweet. And if you think all these cupcakes are giving off too much femininity, Daniel, the Cake Master, gives off enough testosterone to balance things out. Have you seen his BBQ grill cake?! Everyone in Sassy is super nice and helpful when trying to decide between flavors or lunch options. I haven’t tried any of the sandwiches yet, but I plan to soon. There are also other sweets like the Quesito (puff pastry filled with sweet cream and dusted with powdered sugar), cinnamon rolls, cookies, and several drink options to wash it all down.

It was several weeks ago that I saw this was coming in to Old Folsom. I’m, so happy to see Sassy Sweets by Monique open!
I went in today not intending to get a cupcake. I wasn’t sure what kinds of sassy sweets Monique would be peddling. I was doing some local shopping and thought she might have some candy. Instead the sweets that were offered this afternoon were cakes and cupcakes. My eye caught the «pancakes and bacon» cupcake, and I knew I had to give it a try. It was a little more pricey compared to other cupcakes in town, but larger and a HUGE piece of bacon. I left already looking forward to coming again for cake and coffee on a date night in the near future. For now, though, it was a take out cupcake for me.
After dinner tonight I popped open that little case with the cupcake and the wave of smoky maple goodness hit my nose. I can’t say the combination was unique, but I can say that it was the best bacon on a cupcake ever. Usually bacon on a baked goods doesn’t stay crisp. This bacon (both on top of AND under the frosting) was candied with maple syrup, paper thin and so CRISP it snapped! The flavor of the cake itself was, as advertised, pancake. IThe frosting looked like a little dollop on top, but it went straight through the core! The edges of the cupcake were almost candied with maple syrup, too.
So based on one cupcake, I’ll be back. Folsom so needs a place to hang out in the evenings that isn’t a bar, and this could be the place.
