Museum of Wonder & Delight

Initially I was very excited to visit this museum but when my daughter came in with my grandson who was sleeping in his stroller we were told strollers were not allowed. There is nothing on the website about strollers not being allowed nor was there any signs on the door. My family at the time were the only ones in the museum but we were still told no. Please be aware that this is not a very baby friendly place. This was extremely disappointing to me and ruined my visit.

Awesome!!! My husband and I absolutely loved this museum. The Christmas room was my favorite. When my parents visit we will be taking them here. It only cost $ 5 and it was well worth the price! Highly recommend, for all ages!

I loved this little museum! I didn’t even know it was there, we found it by accident. The way it was setup was really cool, it was like being in a art gallery. I can’t believe all the little things, and details that go into each display. Truly amazing, very creative, and so much fun to look at. I could seriously spend hours looking at everything. I still can’t believe one guy, found all of this stuff around the world, and put it together so beautifully. The best part is that it’s only $ 5 for adults and $ 2 for my 9 year old. Absolutely brilliant :)

Apparently, Mr. Dolph Gotelli was an art teacher at UC Davis. He has a massive collection of «wonder,» and has kindly agreed to share and display it here. The front rotation exhibit were toys from around the world.
The mini flags representing each country were great for kids studying countries and flags. I enjoyed the educational element of this feature. Nicely displayed and interesting to see the various materials used (recycled tin cans, paper, metal, etc).
The second room has a holiday theme. Lots of whimsy, fantasy and TOYS! Each display has been carefully crafted and designed. Small glassed windows, with cute displays behind them.
We had kids in tow from 8 months — 7 years old. They enjoyed it, but barely lasted an hour. Rates are $ 5 for adults, and $ 2 for children. Very reasonable. Would definitely recommend checking out the other museums in the area, or letting the kids run around nearby at the outdoor stage and pavilion (honestly, they played here longer and seemed to enjoy it, but that’s beside the point).
Suggestions:
— Children’s story time once a month, that pertains to a particular display
— More info about the scenes on display. My Mother Goose knowledge is lacking, despite having kids. If you’re not familiar with the scenes, it would add to the whimsy if you knew the story.
— Maybe a marble run or some small feature in front that the kids could touch. Hard to tell kids not to touch everything, and not have anything for them to touch… Even a donation well (where you put coins in, and they spiral down). Win-​win!
Great concept. The 20-​something couple in the museum seemed to really enjoy it.
I could see a ladies group enjoying it, then lunching at Karen’s bakery, across the street. Almost appeals to adults, more than kids. Although the kids did enjoy it.
It brought a smile to all of our faces (the baby included). The appeal of toys, whimsy and wonder… delight all ages. A smile is worth a thousand bucks! Check it out– great new place that adds to Folsom’s quaint downtown.

Visiting Historic Folsom one day, I noticed this museum across the way and curiosity got the better of me. I never thought that whatever it was could live up to such a magical name, but the experience far exceeded anything I could have imagined. The displays were absolutely amazing, and made my brain spin trying to take everything in and imagining what it would be like to amass such a collection of toys and miniatures, and where to even start with putting together each scene. I would love to start each day with sitting in front of one display — each scene deserves so much time to take it in and fully appreciate the many details. This attraction will delight people of all ages.
