Color Me Mine

Really fun, who doesn’t like to paint?! But… ridiculously overpriced. The ceramics are not very extravagant and start at $ 20 and upward for a simple small figurine. Cups, plates, plain business card holders, kids figurines, vases, etc. Then there is an $ 8 studio fee per person. #2 people will cost at least $ 65 for #2 minimum costs items to paint. Staff is nice, place is clean and cool during the summer. Overall a fun activity just an expensive one that most average income folks can’t afford. My 3 star rating is based on the expensive costs.

Great experience, with with a couple of gal pals during ladies night ($ 4 studio fee on Wednesdays instead of the regular $ 10 fee).
We all painted different items and had a great time chatting while relaxing/​painting together.
I was the only one who didn’t finish my piece in the 3 hours that we were there, but the staff let me know I could take my piece home and return with it any other day that is convenient for me and finish it up (free of charge, not having to pay the studio fee again).

My bestfriend wanted to try out color me mine for the first time. I didn’t care because it was something to do. We noticed they had a short selection to choose from. All Expensive too! I ended up doing something small and stupid because that alone was 30 dollars. I would save your money and go elsewhere. Then on top of that didn’t even get to take it home that day. had to wait 4 days later. not going back.

Let’s just cut to the bottom line– this place is cool, but it’s just way, way, way, way, way, way, way too expensive for what you get.
I had always wanted to come here, but didn’t, because I’d heard that they’re very expensive. Then they came out with the Groupon. At the time, there were two options. I think one was for a certain amount of dollars in ceramics, and the other was for studio fees, or maybe they were both deals for studio fees. The one I purchased was $ 10 for studio fees for five people.
So I’m thinking, cool, basically we just have to pay for the ceramics we have to paint. That can’t be that bad, right? Wrong. They may advertise that they have ceramics for as low as $ 12, but if it’s $ 12, it’s going to be like, two square inches. My daughter really wanted this unicorn piggy bank that was $ 35– mind you it is the same size as the $ 14 piggy banks at Target that come pre-​painted with pretty much any pattern you can think of. But okay. She wants the $ 35 unicorn, and on second thought, I don’t think I have an additional $ 35 to spend for myself, because I really did not know that painting two pieces of ceramic was going to be an $ 80 experience.
Even though I didn’t paint anything, I was still charged a studio fee. Luckily it was deducted from my five studio fees, so, whatever. But, with the unicorn, I’m sorry, pegasus, actually– with the pegasus being $ 35, I assumed that the studio fee covered paint and things like that… I’m literally not painting anything… what am I being charged for? I’m not sure.
My daughter left happy and does love her pegasus, so that’s cool. But in the end, this place is like the Build-​A-​Bear of paint, except more expensive and less fun.
I gave two stars because, it’s not that the experience was bad, but you can literally buy like 100 different kinds of un-​painted ceramics at the dollar store. And of course I realize that prices are inflated everywhere, and that it would be cheaper to do anything at home, but the prices here seem so unreasonably inflated that I feel that the rating is justified.

Cool but pricey. They do ask for tips, get there early or go off peak days, you pick your piece and they are priced already, minimum is about $ 15, they give u a small pallet of about 5 paints at a time, you paint, use their supples and studio time and kiln and they charge per person and item price.

Color Me Mine in Folsom is a great place to be creative – and luckily, the staff is knowledgable and accommodating so your project can be a success. Everyone working there is friendly and helpful, which is good for novices who may have questions or need any kind of help while they are working on their piece. My latest project was quite labor intensive, and the ladies all seemed to want it to turn out as well as I did! I appreciate the customer service and the positive energy… and although I was apprehensive about my idea (s), I ended up loving the gift I made in the end! Thanks to the Color Me Mine staff for all their attention and help throughout the process – they helped me create a sentimental keepsake that will be loved for years to come.

I feel like quite the accomplished artist now. Okay, not even remotely like an accomplished artist; but I sure did have an amazing time.
My friend has been raving about Color Me Mine for YEARS. I was never against checking it out, but always found myself doing other things instead. I’m so glad she finally forced me into trying it as her birthday gift to me.
I can understand why people are more likely to choose something like the Painted Cork, or Wine Night, over CMM; but please trust me when I say that you don’t need booze in order to have fun– and I love me some booze. The beauty of CMM, is that you aren’t rushed into completing your piece; unlike Painted Cork, etc. The staff are friendly, the age range is vast, and it’s very fairly priced. The paint colors are great as well.
I had a terrific time. I can hardly wait to go back. Check it out. It’s worth it.

Excellent! I started going to this Color Me Mine when it was located on Iron Point near the outlets 20 years ago. I have always received good service and there are frequent specials. The manager helped me put together a CA mission tile painting activities for my 4^th grade class. I highly recommend this business!

Schedule a birthday party here! Such an awesome experience. Give them a price limit and let the kids be creative. Also, the 1.5 hr time a lot is just the right amount. Art, cake, and gifts!

Gah! I’ve been meaning to review this cute place for months. My boyfriend took me here on a date and it was the cutest thing ever. They’re so nice and friendly. I didn’t finish my painting and we were allowed to come back whenever and finish without charge. I am 25 years of age and living without an artistic bone in my body but I would rather go on a date with my boyfriend and paint a giraffe on a Friday night instead of going to a bar. Love this place!

The store has great variety and I’ve been there before when Lauren was working and she was very attentive and super nice. I go back mainly for her but this Arial girl was awful. She was way too into herself rather than helping me. She obviously does not do well with children. I went with a friend and she kept rolling her eyes right after she «helped» a child. She is the epitome of horrific customer service. Luckily they have Katie and Lauren to bring this company up. The variety is awesome and the artistic atmosphere is fantastic. If Arial didn’t work there I would go more often. I truly turn around when I see her in there. If you want to enjoy your time go when Arial isn’t there.

We took the entire crew out for a family day since the Holiday found all six of us without work or school. The new location was packed, but the wait was fairly short and the ladies working were very friendly and accommodating, considering the crowd they were dealing with they did a great job! We spent about 2 hours here and when all was said and done the kids had a blast, my wife had a blast and I had a blast watching them have fun, taking pictures, etc. This is a wonderful activity for a date, family outing, or just something to do on a rainy day or when you are bored and tired of sitting at home. If you are going with a group, it can get pretty expensive as they do charge a per person studio fee ($ 8 for kids, $ 10 for adults) plus on top of that you have to pay for the individual pieces of pottery you will be painting (the cheapest is about $ 10, but figure on almost everything being $ 15+). Going in knowing the costs will really help. The price will prevent us from this being a regular activity, but it is a great once-​in-​a-​while treat for the kids. Great for parties too, they really do go all out to give you the best experience possible, and always with a smile.

My hubby & I went to Color Me Mine for a date & had so much fun painting together. Pretty inexpensive for everything we got; painted for 3 hours, used multiple colors and we barely had to help clean up! Can’t wait to get our ceramic in a week!

My child loved this place! We are not artistic, and his piece came out looking really good.

If you need a rainy day activity, this is a great place. It is a little expensive, but you’ll end up with a great ceramic price that you can use, and even put it in the dishwasher.
We had my daughter’s birthday party here, and it worked out well. 8 friends all made a cool piece, and hung out in a private room. They are good at steering the little ones to lower priced or useful items.
You paint your piece, and then come back a week later to pick it up.

Even as an adult I love this place. Great way to relax and do something creative. Also a good idea for a fun date, gives you time to talk while keeping busy. Forget the movies, this is a lot more fun.

My daughters birthday party took place here very fun but not a very big selection of items to paint. Other than that she had a really great time!

I took my two children, both under ten. They loved it! Staff was very friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to see the finished products!
I would have rated five stars except for cost. In fairness, their website does break down the various costs, including use of their studio ($ 10 for adults, $ 8 for children under 10), kiln use ($ 1.00 per piece — why they don’t just include the $ 1 in the price of the piece I don’t know. I can’t imagine a customer not having the piece fired there), and the cost of the clay piece. Although there are some trivets and small ornaments, most items, including cups/​mugs and small bowls, were in the $ 15 to $ 20 range. So, for one adult and two children, it cost me approx. $ 90. I had a Groupon that helped, but it only got me down to the $ 70 range.
I was some what prepared mentally for the cost, but if this is just a spur of the moment/let’s have some fun kids type of thing, it is very easy to rack up a $ 100 in this place.
Okay, sorry to whine about cost, just thought it might be helpful for parents on a budget to know. All in all, we will go back again. It will be awhile, but we will go back.

I sometimes get bored of standard dates that revolve around food, so my boyfriend planned a date to Color Me Mine to show some creativity in both art and date planning.
We had a coupon that waived the studio fee for both of us (I am unabashedly the coupon queen), so we were just left to pay for the pottery we wanted to paint. We both chose coffee/​latte mugs since we thought we might actually use them sometime. The friendly girl staffing the studio took us over to the paints and filled up our palates with the colors we wanted and then set us free to have at it.
I decided to play it safe with a pretty flowery stencil design, while my boyfriend just went to town freehanding his mug. You can pretty much make a date here last as long as you want depending on how fast you want to finish your piece. We took our time and really had fun doing something new. After you’re done, you turn in your piece to be fired in the kiln and return in a couple days to pick it up.
Upon pickup, I was not surprised to see that my dainty little flower design was quite pretty, while my boyfriend’s brown and burnt orange creation was more… abstract? Regardless, it was a good time for people of all ages and ability levels. I even use the mug I made! My boyfriend doesn’t use his, so I tend to hide it in the very back of the cupboard. Sorry babe, we’ll stick to food dates for you ;o)

Quiet Place for Your Creative Pottery Projects
The idea behind «Color Me Mine» is simple: Pick out a piece you would like to paint, select your colors, paint your pottery.
They will fire it for you, provide all the brushes, stencils, and you can come pick up your pieces in a few days.
They have a lot of different colors of paint and samples for you to look at. The place is very quiet and clean. There are quite a few different seasonal and regular pottery pieces to choose from. The staff is friendly and will answer any questions you have.
So bring a friend… or just go by yourself. Spend an hour or two and let your creativity run wild.
