I’ll start by saying I didn’t use his services, so have no idea whether he’s good or not. All I know is that he (whoever he was, told me he was the business owner) was rude and snapped at me. I walked in ther a few weeks ago concerned that my computer wouldn’t install Windows 10. I wanted to get an idea of what it might take to get me back to where I was before, and about how long he needed. My goodness, I was only asking a question and he snapped that he had no idea, that it could take several days to a week. He never once smiled or asked what he could do for me – there wasn’t anyone else there which might be a clue that business isn’t so good. I thanked him (for nothing) and walked out, never to return. P. S. I called the Fix-​It guys (yes, that’s their name) down in Mountain View where I just moved from and had worked on my laptop before. Their tech offered a screen share, jumped on and reinstalled Windows 7 in about 2 minutes and then made sure I had no other questions. Now THAT’S customer service. He said he’s had dozens of customers with the same Windows 10 issue — I would think Mr. Bitwise would also know that and could’ve shared that information, but maybe nobody goes there because he’s so disagreeable.

I went into the shop recently to get some data transferred from one computer to another. After shopping around I learned that $ 99 was the going price for this service. Upon entering the store I immediately sensed an attitude from Rob, the owner of the shop. He was extremely terse in his responses and conveyed an air of extreme arrogance. I asked his price which was $ 129. I told him that Apple would do the same for $ 99…his response was «so go to Apple». His attitude was disrespectful and of poor customer service. There are many competitors out there, there’s no need to expose yourself to someone who thinks he’s all that. Others have had a positive experience with Rob, I did not. I left his shop quite surprised by this experience and will not recommend or return.

I was referred to Bitwise from a co-​worker who said the owner, Rob, is honest and will treat you right. He will not charge you if he doesn’t find out anything more than you already know. This was not necessarily the case. The owner is a really nice guy, and definitely knows his stuff. Guess what– I may not know all the IS terminology, but I know more about computers than the average guy. I have a ²⁰¹⁰⁄₂₀₁₁ Macbook Pro that I bought second hand in early 2012. The computer has always worked well, but for some reason the hard drive says its always 90% full with music and videos. 6 months ago it started to bother me, so I started really digging into why. After many attempts, and many youtube videos with advice, I came to the conclusion last week that I do not know how to find the «music & video» files that are filling up my hard drive.
I called Rob at Bitwise and explained the situation, as well as text. He was really polite, but didn’t show enough interest in what I had to say. I explained the issues I was having, as well as my many attempts to locate and rectify the problem. I was very upfront that I tried many different ways to clean up the hard drive, but to no avail. He asked that I bring it in. He also said it would take 24 hours to diagnose the problem, which seemed extreme to me. He told me it would be $ 69.99 to diagnose and locate the problems. I brought it in early on a Wednesday, hoping he would have an answer by the afternoon. He was upfront that he would not. He also told me more like 48 hours for diagnosis, which again baffled me.
No word on Thursday… I called and left a message, as well as texted Rob on Friday. no response. I finally called again and he did pick up. I asked if my computer was looked at. He explained to me, again using IS terminology, that the computer must have a corrupt hard drive, or something that is locking up the space. He explained to me that the only option was to do a time capsule (which being a PC guy most of my life) was a term I was unfamiliar with. He could have easily used the term «Restore’ which is a universal term.
The cost would be $ 129.99 (I believe) for the service. This is something anybody can do for free in about 15 minutes. I asked, if he were to do this, would he be able to keep my applications and software, which he could not give me a definite answer.
So what did I pay for exactly? I was upfront about the issues and my own diagnostic check, and the information I had obtained. He didn’t find anything, and wanted to wipe my computer clean without saving any of my software for an additional $ 60.
I wanted to converse more about the issues and get more information about what he found for $ 69.99. He is really good at defusing confrontation by using big words and giving the impression, which could be real, that he was extremely busy. I am very disappointed and will continue to work on the issue myself.

Great service. Had an issue that was outside the scope of services provided. They went out of their way to refer me to a company that has helped tremendously and that I never would have known about otherwise.

They recovered my data off a crashed hard drive. They had the best price for the recovery and were very courteous and polite. I highly recommend them with your precious files.

Rob was very friendly and was able to fix my computer in one day. No issues have popped up since. Very reasonable pricing too. Earned my future business.

Rob solved my week-​long PC issue in less than 10 minutes, remotely, in one phone call! Knowledgable, FAST, dependable… Two huge thumbs up!

Rob is the best! We have taken 2 of our computers there for virus removal and a tune up. He can also help you over the phone or remotely. He is helpful and friendly, We manage a Senior mobile home park and recommend him to all our residents. Today he helped me over the phone set up a printer and it took all of about 5 minutes! THANKS Rob :-)

This is a review for only the video game console repair.
First of all I want to say that Rob was very friendly and seemed like a very nice guy. Walking into the shop you could tell right away he is VERY busy and gets a lot of repeat customers.
I took my Playstation 3 in for repair back in August of 2011 due to the dreaded yellow light of death (aka it over-​heated and died). It is a very well known issue with the PS3.
After having it a few days he called me up and was honest and said he couldn’t repair it but he could hold onto it and see if repair parts came around.
I took him at his word and let him hold onto it.
Not being in a particular hurry and holding hope that it would be repaired I kept it there all the way until this month, January 2012.
I finally decided to go pick it up because I heard from a friend there is a place in Roseville that also does PS3 repairs.
I want to be upfront and say that Rob was very friendly, he gave me the PS3 back with no problem and he didn’t charge me anything.
The very same day I took it to a different console repair shop in Roseville.
Told him about the yellow light of death and the guy said the PS3 looks like it is in good shape and it hadn’t been opened before.
I didn’t tell him that I had already taken it to BitWise for repairs before.
The next day, less than 24 hours later, the place in Roseville called back and said it was repaired and I could pick it up.
I spoke again with the repair guy and he said that it MIGHT have been opened but that the other seal for the motherboard was not removed and it was dusty inside.
Therefore, I have to give only a two-​star review for BitWise because they did not repair my problem when another repair shop was able to.
Secondly, the other repair shop said my PS3 still had the seal on the inside and it was dirty which calls into question did BitWise even attempt to repair it?
Either way, I could have saved a lot of time if I had gone somewhere else besides BitWise.
Again, totally friendly people there, and it’s obvious it is a thriving computer repair business… but my review is for console repair and I was left unhappy.

I was so upset when my laptop screen went dead just a few weeks before Christmas. Not only did I have a project due within the week, but I was also over extended on my holiday gift budget. I took the laptop over to Rob at BitWise for an evaluation. Within 24 hours, Rob called me with his diagnosis. When he began to explain that the laptop would cost hundreds to repair, I expected him to then try to persuade me to repair the computer even though it cost only hundred dollars to purchase. Instead, Rob was honest, direct and non-​pushy, saying that, in this case, the laptop was not worth it. On top of this, he was extremely pleasant during every conversation whether over the phone or in person.
Thanks Rob for your honesty, quick service and fantastic attitude! I hope I never have problems with my new computer, but if I do, I will only trust you to fix them!

Well I thought for sure my first review would be on food but after going here I had to write something !
From the first time I talked to Rob on the phone until the moment I picked up the repaired computer from his shop … you couldn’t ask for a better person to work with. Price was Great. the time of the repair was great (just like he told me 1 day). very friendly and helpful. Ill have no problem taking my computer back for any other problems. and i know I’ll have more.
