I’ve been here for dine in once and ordered takeout like 2 times. The food here is great and the staff is friendly. They have everything you’d expect from a typical malaysian restaurant. I’d say dining in would always be a better option since you everything is displayed and presented better. I’ve had their curry and it’s flavorful. You can never go wrong with curry at malaysian and the caption noodle. The Hainese chicken is also another option which can never go wrong. I’d definately go here for Malaysian since it’s budget wise and delicious.

Ordered through seamless. Food was great. In general a lot of the dishes were a bit on the sweet side but I’m overly sensitive to sugar so other people will not find it bothersome. Well-priced and well portioned. Delivery was prompt and courteous. They forgot to send a dish but we’re very gracious and sent it over very quickly. Looking forward to ordering here again.

The captain noodles were really good minus the squid. My girlfriend wasnt a big fan of the squid with it. The coffee tea drink was sweet & really good The roti tissue looks great & tastes good too. The chili chicken was good too. Overall a good experience, im not sure how authentic as im not chinese Malaysian but im definitely coming back

After years of eating here and many Malaysian restaurants in New York, this is still a solid place. There are a few things that really special : 1. Baby Bok Choy — so tiny and so tender 2. Sweet roti — still cannot find this dish elsewhere Remember cash only, one of few points of enhancements

— – About the food. Very good malaysian resturant, with very good food! I ordered the Prawn Mee to go and it was delicious. It came with sliced fish cake, watercress, lo mein noodles, and shrimp. The soup was pleasantly spicy and reeked of prawn flavor(a very good thing.) This looks like a very authentic place to get your daily fix of malaysian, would definitely come back again to try their other dishes. — – About the service. The only reason why this isn’t a 4 star review is because of the lady at the front of the store. Although she took my order with no problem, when my friend ordered, she picked up her cell phone mid conversion. Who does that? We weren’t sure whether she got the order so we had to ask again. It was only one dish so there was no reason why she couldn’t have waited.

Since this place is named after the dish, I sampled both types of satay: beef and chicken. The meat and the sauce are decent, but I prefer the satay at Malay Restaurant with the slightly crunchy caramelized tips. People have good things to say about the Hainanese chicken rice, and indeed the«oil rice» itself is above average. We ordered a half chicken, and it was overcooked. My son declared it «tasteless and tough», and every piece had a significant amount of bone, as well as bone shard. Not enjoyable. We tried a couple of stir fried dishes: Kapitan and Pearl Noodles. The Kapitan Noodle was a small disaster – IMHO the reason this place averages only 3.5 stars. The taste was on the outside of the noodles(the inside was tasteless), and the rice noodles were just a little too«al dente»(something not good for rice noodles), and broken into little pieces so that there was not a single long noodle. The inside is a little run down, and this would be excusable if the food was better. Unfortunately, it is not.

I am super glad that this place is located in a place far, far away from the closest subway, tourist attractions or certain trendy, stylish group of people. I can’t help it but have to be selfish and protective about this place. Lots of locals here and it is constantly busy with customers in and out. Food is always good. Period.

This restaurant is really convenient for me since I live in the neighborhood. I never have to wait when i go in and food always arrives within 15 – 20 minutes. Service is decent but you can definitely tell the workers have been there for years so they’re not all smiles and rainbows.

I came here almost every week while I do my laundry next block. The food here is tasty and rich in flavor. Good in portion too. My all time flavor is the dry noodle with Cha SIEW. Their Cha SIEW is so good that I can eat them all just by itself.

Why does the woman at the restaurant always have a chip on her shoulder??? She acts like she’s doing ME a favor by taking my order, unless she’s got some type of partnership in this restaurant, get rid of her because she’s bad for business. I know everyone has good & bad days but she seems to have a bad day everytime I see her. She should not be front of house… she would do better in the kitchen where customer service is not required. I LOVE their food though, it’s sooo yummy!!!

This place has been opened for years now. It used to be more tasty and authentic. They used to sell snacks from Malaysia, such as cookies, candy and pastries. Unfortunately this is all gone. I recently ate at the restaurant after many years. I ordered the Malaysian rice noodles, pineapple fried rice and the chicken satay. The rice noodles are soggy, overly sweet from too much sweet sauce. It was pretty horrendous. The pineapple fried rice wasn’t much better. The shrimp was not fresh and overcooked. The flavor was just full of soy sauce and nothing much really. There wasn’t even much pineapple flavor… However the chicken satay was a hit. The peanut sauce was off the hook. They could give more cucumber pieces, but the chicken satay was solid. The décor is pretty bland. It’s a typical looking Asian restaurant in Flushing. The walls are decorated with photos of «Visit Malaysian tourism». The servers speak a bunch of languages such as English, Cantonese, Mandarin and perhaps Malaysian. The menu is pretty extensive, but from my experience, there are more misses than hits on there. There is limited parking right in front. It is next the the Gold City supermarket, so if you go to the market, you can park in the big lot and eat at the restaurant. Another thing is that this restaurant is CASHONLY, so bring cash folks!

I’m on a meat, veggie, fruit diet to help support a girlfriend who wanted to lose weight. So I decided I’ll just get broccoli and beef at Satay. I told the lady, who spoke English well, to just save the rice because I’ll just throw it out. She said the manager won’t let her. .hmmm no one was there but her. I explained that I didn’t want more meat or broccoli just save the rice. She laughed at me. When I got the order of Choate there was two bowls full of rice and I counted 15 peeves of tiny beef and 4 broccoli. I usually get way more than this at a regular Chinese take out restaurant with the same price. Now I’m not one to complain about the price if the food was awesome but there was barely any flavor.

You have to come here and try their specials. They are a smaller size plate but they are less expensive so that you can order more variety. They are very helpful if you can’t speak or read the Chinese on the board. I am sure their menu changes often so feel free to ask. Expect crowds on weekends and longer wait times but definitely worth it.

The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. This was my first time at Satay and the waitress was nice enough to make some suggestions. We started off with the Roti Canai and the Beef Satay with peanut sauce. These were perfect to share for a group of 3 or 4. I ordered Haienese Chicken(half). The chicken rice was very flavorful. I will definitely order this again. We saw our neighbors eating a soup with pork and noddles topped with anchovies. I will try that next time.

Nice little Malaysian restaurant. Have been here several times and have never been disappointed with the service or the food. Although English is not the first language of the staff, they are all very friendly and engage those of us who primarily speak English. I bring this up only because that’s not always the case when you dine at many Asian restaurants. Dinner tonight for our party of three consisted of calamari with coconut, egg roti, Singapore noodles, chicken satay, and chilli chicken. All of the items were made fresh to order and arrived at our table piping hot. Every single dish was delicious and was large enough to share so that each of us got a satisfactory amount of each dish. We left full, satisfied, and looking forward to our next visit. If there was a regret it would be that we didn’t leave any room for dessert. We were the last group to leave but never felt like we were being rushed to call it a night, even when we noticed that much of their staff had to leave so they could catch public transportation to their respective homes, late at night. We intend to return in the not-too-distant future.

A small casual dine-in restaurant with average pricing, meager decoration but clean. The food is good. Tax was added even cash only.

100% LEGITMALAYSIANFOOD. Been coming here since I was a wee little girl. This is without a doubt, one of the best Malaysian spots Flushing has to offer. If you don’t speak Chinese, have no worries. You won’t have to worry about language barriers because the wait staff here speaks Chinese, Malay AND English! If you’re stuck as to what to order, ask them and they will help you pick out a few of the best things in their menu. You will definitely get your money’s worth here because the food here is delicious and cheap. You won’t be disappointed!

I have always walked by this restaurant since I always shop at Golden City Supermarket right next door and have Dimsum at East Manor restaurant. Today my wife and I were in the mood for some Hainanese Chicken so we were like how about Satay. Parking for Satay could be tough since they don’t have their own parking lot. Your best bet would be park at one of the smaller streets and walk over! Btw I don’t recommend taking the risk of parking at the Golden City Supermarket P-Lot. Before walking in the door, we make sure we had enough CASH since it’s a CASHONLY place. The waiters and waitresses were very nice and can speak/understand English so there’s no language barrier here. Since this was my first time here, I have decided to go safe in terms of food choices– We ended up ordering the Hainanese Chicken over rice, Roti Canai and seafood stir fried noodle. I was very disappointed with my Roti Canai– it came to the table cold– not even warm at all, straight up cold. It felt like they made it before hand and tried to heat it up(or not) afterward. Overall it tasted hard and was not fresh at all. However, the curry chicken sauce was great and there was even a big piece of chicken inside! The Hainanese chicken was great! It’s not the moistest/tender chicken I have eaten but it’s still good! Good flavor and it’s a killer with the hot sauce! The rice I believe is cooked with a little bit of chicken fat so it tasted extra flavorful but not too greasy. The Seafood stir fried noodle is average, it’s a little greasy for my taste but at least it’s got good flavor. Not a lot of seafood but you get two Chinese Broccoli. Price– inexpensive– all 3 dishes total out to be about $ 20 so not too bad. Overall– Everything was pretty much average here, none of the dishes really stood out to me but since the price is pretty cheap so it is a good place to eat at if you need a quick and inexpensive bite.

A good Malaysian restaurant. Love their roti canai. Like everyone said it is cash only. They have some Thai and cantonese dishes. Portion is great so you do get your money worth. They speak cantonese, mandarin, and pretty good english. Sometimes during dinner service they are packed but the wait is usually good. Lunch time is never that packed so no need to worry about starving while waiting. They have like three parking spaces in the front of the restaurant. Other wise you would have to find street parking.
