Got a deal on groupon, $ 30 for 2 people. When you come in they give you another $ 10 off for your next visit. You really get your money’s worth because you spend the full 1.5 hours there.
1. Instructor is friendly, funny, patient, and accommodating.
2. For newbies like me, 1.5 hrs was good because my arm was starting to get tired and shake LOL.
3. You’ll be switching off with your partner for this session if you got it off groupon, but if you took a class already you can have solo time with a choice of two different bows.
4. You get to take the target home to show off or hang up in the wall of shame.
Great activity and place for couples, friends, and family

This place is awesome. Like most, bought an excellent and inexpensive 90 min groupon deal for two that offered a training session followed by free range. Our instructor was Mike who was amazing, passionate about his work, and made the lesson pretty humorous (as humorous as archery can be?).
Our lesson took a bit longer than I’d like and the free time to shoot felt a bit rushed, mostly because of how big the class was at that time, but it was still a very enjoyable experience and only fueled the desire to come back even more.
Would recommend coming with a friend since you’re paired off and it’s even more fun when it’s with someone you know… plus, one of you can own some bragging rights at the end when you compare your targets — I’ll be honest, it wasn’t me. I probably should’ve asked for an arm guard considering my lack of coordination.
Altogether, the 90 mins honestly flew by so quickly– loved learning a new sport with a great instructor. Really wanting to come back very soon!

Loved this place! Instructor Mike was extremely helpful and made sure everyone had a great time. Everyone there was mostly a beginner and it was nice and friendly atmosphere, although it may have been a bit crowded. The instructor was patient with everyone who needed adjustments or additional pointers.
Would happily come again!

Got a groupon for 2 people at $ 30, usually costs $ 50. A good experience. Started off close to the target wall, and slowly went farther and farther. Even if my kids didn’t really hit their «target», they had a lot of fun.

Great place for a date or with with friends! Mike was our instructor, the lesson took about 20 minutes. He was funny and very easy to follow. I unfortunately didn’t get anywhere near close to my target haha but still had a great time. You can take pictures btw, and if you ask your instructor he’ll take of you as well. The session is about an hour and a half. We also bought ours on groupon, they give you a coupon you can use for next time you want to come in when you purchase from groupon. Definitely coming back!

I will say when I walked in I was a little disappointed in the setting. It was smaller than I was expecting and there were a lot more people in our time session than I was hoping there would be.
HOWEVER, that didnt stop us from having a great time! Mike was great, and after our lesson, kind of let us do our thing and go at our own pace. I hope to return!

A good place to try out archery for all levels! I believe they often have groupon deals, but I came here without and it was $ 25 for an hour and lessons!
The first 15 – 20 minutes covers the basic techniques of using the bow and arrows, proper etiquette and safety protocols and tips/​pointers. Our instructor was exceptionally helpful and made sure no one was gonna kill each other. On the other hand, sometimes a lesson could take much longer, especially with bigger groups, which gives you less time to pretend to be Green Arrow! But it’s alright, ’cause safety first!
You have the options of using the recurve or compound bow. The recurve bow is significantly easier than the compound, since it’s easier to hold up and has a trigger to shoot. The compound bow, on the other hand, is much heavy and requires much more focus to shoot.
Overall, it’s a pretty relaxing experience and definitely a change from what you can do in the area!

Archery Instructor Mike was phenomenal!
Who knew how much technique and discipline is needed for archery?
Well, Mike taught us how to stabilize ourselves, and to focus on hitting the target.
I became trigger happy after a while, shooting on another person’s target and just having the time of my life. I was like number 3 target could get it, number 5 could get it all targets were being hit by my arrow.
Date: It was fun! I think it always great to go on a sports date because you are able to see how a person is during a challenge or a game! Seeing a 6’3 man in a dress shirt with a fresh haircut shoot arrows hitting targets while I’m in background lurking. Let’s say it began and «ended» well.
My First Impression: When I snapped the bowstring for the first time I thought I was going to lose my grip and hurt someone. The archery instructor had to tell me «I’m in control of the bow.“Upper body strength, precision, and stable posture are the three key essentials to hitting the bullseye. As much as I give good advice I didn’t follow it at first. I thought being from Queens (Rosedale) I assumed I had street credit for being fearless. I was wrong!
Attire: I dressed comfortably, but the next time I’m wearing heels. All black, red lipstick and black heels. Why? Because my date started taking pictures and as a «girly girl athlete» I wanted to look like an assassin. Assassins Creed Bebe. Owwwww!!!
What Not To Do: Take your form very seriously, I bruised myself twice from not having proper form and snapped the bumbacl**t out of my arm. I wanted to fight the bow after a while. I didn’t know chocolate people could get bruises until I saw red and black on my chocolate skin (no sleeveless shirt when I go next time)!

Will I come here again?: I’m actually going there again in less than 2 weeks. They gave us a discount for next time and it’s something cute to do for a laid back date with that special someone.

Great place if you’re into archery! Awesome staff who were very knowledgable and patient with first-​timers.
The instructor was very detailed in our lesson and gave us great tips on how to improve individually although we were a group of 5. Be sure to check out the wall of Robin Hood! Def would come back to keep practicing.

Came here on a LivingSocial deal for an intro lesson and shooting time.
Our instructor was Nate, who was wonderful and is five stars on his own. The lesson was excellent and the time flew by. Safety was the number one concern and was handled matter of factly enough that the procedures streamlined into just letting us enjoy the experience itself.
The only real drawback of this establishment is how much of a hike it is to get there from more central parts of NYC. That said, absolutely worth the experience.

Came here yesterday (Valentine’s Day) for an exciting & interesting date. My boyfriend & I both are interested in starting up learning how to do archery so we looked up a few places & decided on this one. When we arrived it was a small place, very relaxed scenario with lots of people.
Cons: It’s a cash only place. You have to wait for the others in your group to finish before moving onto your next set. A little small in the training section. not sure if they have shorter distances to practice on the other side. A little hard to find parking.
Pros: There is an ATM. The instructor was very attentive & gave us direction in order to better our aim. It wasn’t too expensive @ $ 25 p/​p with the mandatory training included and equipment rental also included for an hour.
Overall it was a really great experience and I am looking forward to returning here.

Came here last night with Groupon deal. Mike was our instructor and he was more than amazing. Very safety oriented yet with humor to make the 90 min swing by. I was very skeptical about archery because my hand eye coordination is non existent. But the instructors given made everything easier. We started at 730 and after instruction we took turns with our partners to shoot from short to mid to long ranges. Mike was with us and gave us personal tutorials to how to aim better and also to take actions shots… Free of charge. Lol
I’d def recommend coming here and trying out archery. The interior isn’t anything fancy, but the instructors and the sport itself makes u forget that. But be warned… This is an arm workout class for sure lol.

There’s a 24hr rescheduling/​cancellation policy. Sounds fair enough, however a little part of me just wish for them to be a bit more flexible with that considering the fact that we were going to come back and use it the day after.
Had it initially scheduled for Saturday night. The beau was caught up staying overtime at work that night hence we had to reschedule. Was told that they wouldn’t honor the deal anymore and we can use our voucher value (30 bucks we paid groupon) and pay the 10 bucks difference per person under their normal rates. Paying 50 total btw the 2 of us, for 1.5 HR session.
25 per person? Meh not too bad.
Archery was held indoors in a relatively small shack. We got there at 12pm and there was already a crowd of regular pros.
Instructors were attentive.

Update for our last visit on 8÷1÷2015: Visit before this one was 12/​31/​2014 with my daughter so I was anxious to come back. Luckily we got there shortly after 10am so there were no crowds yet.
Since we were already familiar with the basics, we opted not to take the lesson again and started our session at the 20 yd line. The staff set us up with our bows, arrows, and targets and left us to our own devices unless we needed help or had questions.
TIP: go ahead and pay the $ 10 deposit to borrow an arm guard. Even if you think you have great form, it only takes one moment of carelessness for fatigue to get flicked on the forearm.
Otherwise, it was as enjoyable as it had been in the past. We like the place so much we don’t mind the 1 ½ hour commute from The Bronx. Archery equipment is definitely on my list to Santa this year.

I like this place enough to travel in from The Bronx, and have done so several times. I even bought a t-​shirt. My visits have convinced me that it’s time to get my own basic set of equipment and upgrade as my enthusiasm and skill level grow.
The kicker: $ 500 minimum purchase to use a credit card. The basic package is between $ 300 and $ 400, but I’m very hesitant to carry that much cash on my person for the hour and a half trek. Although I understand there’s some business reason behind this policy, I begrudgingly I deduct one star. Queens Archery is still my go-​to place for archery, but I’m looking to purchase my equipment elsewhere.

I’ve been here a few times over the years (with long gaps inbetween visits). They offer group lessons, private lessons and times when you can just practice (with your own bow, or a rental bow). The instructors are clear, kind and helpful. And the lessons are also child friendly.
I liked the recurve bow better than the compound bow. It’s mostly because I’m a weakling who needs to lift and the compound bows are much heavier. But they are more accurate if your arm isn’t getting tired and you can properly aim. The recurve bow is much easier to shoot and hold up. Other than that the only thing I wasn’t crazy about was all of the hunting paraphernalia, but I get that it’s an aspect of archery.
Queens Archery definitely makes for a fun night out! I wish I could get myself into the habit of going more regularly.

The instructor was very cautious and made sure everyone understood the steps. He was gentle and yet dumb it down for the students!

I am an outdoor person, but this indoor activity was very interesting and kept me focused.
The instructor (Mike) was fun and helpful.
I will definitely go back again.

Came here with the wife through a livingsocial deal. It was an introductory to archery class that was for 1.5 hours. Our instructor was Mike, he was very knowledgeable, helpful, fun, and had a great sense of humor. If you plan to do an intro class make sure that you RSVP as soon as possible because spots can fill up quick.
For those that want to just shoot without the intro course, or maybe you’ve done this before. The hourly rate is $ 25 with rental, or $ 15 if you have your own equipment.
The class was very informative, and it allowed everyone to shoot from a VERY comfortable distance, and as the time came closer to ending the class we step further back. At the end of the class, we were shooting from the 20 meter range. It was a lot of fun. Mike helped many people take action pictures and it looked like we were auditioning for a superhero show on TV.
For the newbies like myself, make sure that you ask if you can have an arm guard, because if you hold your arm too straight, the string can hit you and you can get bruised. That was the case for both my wife and I. So better to be safe than sorry, ask them at the front desk, but they’ll ask you for a deposit.
Prices are reasonable and staff are great. I will definitely be coming back here.

I never gave a lot of thoughts about archery until Groupon offered a 50% discount for a 1.5 hour lesson at the Queens Archery. The offer includes: introductory lessons, compound bow (with trigger and arrows) rental and practice time.
The archery range (divided in two sections with 20 lanes) is not the biggest but the target distance is 60 feet. When taking lessons, you can use a compound bow or the traditional bow.
As with most Groupon deals, there are catches:
1. Archery sessions (1.5 hours) for Groupon buyers are only available on Saturdays and Sundays between 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm (and they get filled quickly)
2. You’re paired off and alternate the shooting/​practice time with your partner (which is not so bad if you bring a date)
Overall, my son had fun and we’ve decided to buy our own equipment. It was a good idea to buy the Groupon to get a feel of the sport.
Queens Archery deserves three stars but I’m giving four stars because archery is actually a fun sport and I became a fan.
