I usually come here for steamed buns. This bakery isn’t that big.

The most delicious roasted pork steamed bun! And just for $ 1.30. I love that they don’t skimp on the filling, and that it isn’t predominantly dough.

Maxin’s is a great bakery chain, but the choice and quality of this branch outdoes the rest! The best array of the freshest, tastiest Chinese buns anywhere. Pork bun, hot dog bun, chicken bun, red bean paste bun, coconut bun– I can continue for an hour if you’d like. You can get baked and steamed buns. And the COFFEE! This place makes the world’s best coffee!

Located in Flushing, Queens this bakery has some delicious buns.
It’s a corner location on a busy street. Small place that has some delicious buns. I had the baked and steamed Pork buns. They were Delicious! The baked Buns has a sweetness to it and the steamed seems to be light and airy. The filling is amazing. Chopped roasted pork with like a gelatin mix. So good. Highly recommend this place. The best part is they’re Cheap!

Great prices for consistent bread pastries! Im a fan of their tuna (only when its fresh), roast pork, pineapple buns, and scallion and hotdogs buns! I like that they use the Hong Kong Style milk tea bags and not Lipton tea bags. The H. K ones have a more distinct flavor which I love. Other places like Early Bird bakery and Mr Tu’s Bakery don’t have it, but Maxin and Others like Taipan/​fayda have it which is awesome! While other bakeries have been rising prices over the last few years, Maxin have been consistent with their prices which I admire. They’re all individually wrapped except the cakes/​deserts in the refrigerator, but who really gets the the cakes???
They have a summer promotion with 50% drinks, but its only limited to about four drinks… basically two… aka bubble milk tea or rainbow jelly milk tea. When you ask for it, sometimes, they say they dont have it maybe because 1) they dont understand you, or 2) dont want to give it to you because they are just advertising for more customers to buy things other than the «cheap» drinks promo. Anyways, if you ask for it and happen to get it, its a banging price of $ 1.40!!! Its great because they use REAL MILK TEA, not the powder ones at places like quicklys/​kungfu/​chai time!!! And even if you dont like bubbles, I would suggest getting the deal and not eating the bubbles. It’s the same milk tea used for iced milk tea drinks at their store.

I started favoring this place more than Taipan down the street. All the pastries are individually wrapped so it makes it a lot easier to handle. My personal favorites are the pineapple bun, dried pork bun, and the bun with the coconut flakes and crème in the middle. Simply delicious. I usually buy enough to last me a week (since I live on Long Island and can’t make it out everyday). And their drinks are equally delicious. My normal go-​to drink is the classic bubble tea. But during the summer, nothing beats a refreshing red bean ice drink. It’s so good I’m craving another one right now just writing about it!

All their items are really cheap and well made. I love most of their bread and they open super early. I arrive at flushing at 6:30 every morning and they are already open. Definitely a great place to grab some breakfast and even buy your lunch!
The only thing is their warm milk tea has this after taste that makes you want to keep on drinking I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not.

I love this place. The prices are cheap and service is pretty good. The place is very narrow, but isn’t too much of a problem. I love their cakes, especially their vanilla cream cake. Their white bread is thick and moist. The only thing that was a bit overpriced was the elephant ear cookie tin, which came with many mini elephant ear cookies, but wasn’t worth the $ 8 price tag.

SMALL! It is literally a rectangle. You walk in and the baked breads are on the left side, refrigerated buns and cold drinks are on the right side, at the end of this tight hallway is the cashier, in front of the cashier is the steamed buns. I only come here for fresh steam buns. They recently increased their prices for a few of the steamed buns. I love their Chinese sausage bun! It’s decently big for $ 1.45 now. The plain bun is $ 1 still. What sucks is that they put fresh warm steaming bun in those wax bag and the top of the bun gets stuck so you lose the top part of the bun before eating. Great place for Breakfast. You could be lucky if they still have some at the end of the day, so great for a snack before dinner!

Another Maxin branch for my go-​to breakfast spot! Absolutely loving their freshly baked pastries and COFFEE! Individually wrapped and sanitary. Perfect location in the heart of Main St. Clean environment. No seating area in this Maxin because of small spacing. Reasonable prices. Never on sale, but that makes them stand out from other bakeries. Grab a quick BUN on the go! ;)

Great small bakery, they have a lot of the basic Asian breads you would find in other bakeries and they are very good and already packaged which is convenient. Coffee is cheap and good, the only steamed bun I would recommend is the sweet chicken bun, yummy. Ladies are nice and they always remember my coffee order! If there is a line it usually goes by quickly.

I took a chance to try their baked goods and I’m not disappointed. I wanted to find another bakery, other than Fay-​Da and the New flushing bakery.
I tried their coconut bun and wives’ bread. Both delicious! I decided on these two since there weren’t a lot left. The coconut bun wasn’t too sweet and it’s better when it’s heated up. The wives’ bread had a flaky consistency, had a red bean filling and was topped off with white sesame seeds.
I’ve returned within the same week to buy the same things, but also decided to try their Chinese sausage bun (recommendation from the other Unilocalers) and red bean bun. I enjoyed the Chinese sausage bun, it’s definitely a lot better when it’s hot along with some sriracha. The red bean bun was bread-​like with a red bean ribbon running through the bread. It was topped with almonds. The bun was not overly sweet and was quite enjoyable.
I’d definitely continue to come back here for their baked goods and steamed buns. I’m still a little wary about their bubble tea, but maybe sometime in the future.

A convenient place next to the 7 train! I come here often, and every morning it has a wide array of fresh bread, sandwiches and buns. They’re all delicious and pipping hot. The bubble tea is also pretty good. All the pastries are under $ 1.30 too. Great deal!

Can’t fairly rate this bakery as I only tried one item — right out of the oven — the red bean bun and it was very good!

There’s a lot of bakeries in Flushing, Main street. All are great but I fine that this one is a bit different from others.
It’s a bit small but they have everything clearly displayed AND wrapped. This makes the process of buying buns faster. The prices are really cheap as well. One more I skipped breakfast and decided to just grab and bun and tea. Came out to less than $ 3.
There’s only two workers (that I’ve seen so far) but they work effectively.
That’s why I give it a 5÷5− other than that of course the buns are about the same or similar to all the other bakeries.

Right outside the train station their set up is very grab and go. However I came here planning just to grab one thing and go. That being a chinese sausage roll.
I don’t know what came over me. I was at work and I just had a craving for a chinese sausage roll (yes I know it sounds like some kind of sex phrase no double entendres here). It is just a very simple thing that I have not had since my childhood that my parents would buy for us that I immediately wanted one. Since I don’t live in Chinatown anymore I had to find something in my own neighborhood of Flushing’s Chinatown and not recalling any such dim sum place that had them I figured I would start at the local bakeries. Although I am usually a customer of the other Maxin Bakery on Roosevelt (that one doesn’t have them) the first store I walked into right out of the train station, this Maxin on Main Street had them right in their steam display. I was lucky to grab the last two left of the day. The store is very narrow. But they make good use of the space and carry quite a few items like rolls, cakes, breads and pastries and of course hot or cold milk tea and coffee but neither the look of the place nor did my claustrophobia deter me and I waited like 5 minutes until the counter person could sort out a bubble tea order and I even withstood the smell of windex as another lady was cleaning the displays.
A lot of bakeries have the regular roasted hot dog bun with the buttery brown top but what I sought and finally found at Maxin was a soft steamed white puffy roll with a whole chinese preserved red sausage inside. The saltiness of the sausage complements the plain white roll which tastes like a plain mantou. A simple bread not really sweet or salty but the white pillowlike roll is wrapped like a coil around this prize sausage. When you bite into it you feel like you are being smothered by the stay puft marshmallow man. This roll is pretty big. There is a lot of dough. Almost overwhelming but the fact that it is steamed adds moisture to the roll. Though you may need a milk tea to wash it down. And it was really cheap for $ 1.30. You definitely get your money’s worth with the size of this roll. I thought it would be $ 1.75 at least. I can save my change for another day.
Glad I could find what I wanted at Maxin.

Small but incredibly inexpensive pastries and other baked items. Ham & Egg Sandwich for less than $ 2??? A HUGE Steamed Chinese Sausage Bun for $ 1.30? I’m SOOO down! Haven’t tried the pastries here but the Steamed Chinese Sausage Buns were what got me to become a fan at this bakery! Oh yeah and surprisingly staff speaks enough English here.

The store is not that conspicuous, but their baked good are just amazing all around. I love how they are all individually packaged in plastic bags — how convenient!
So far I’ve tried many fluffy cakes (don’t like the coffee one, but fruity ones and simple sponge cake are good), pineapple buns (with coconut), red bean bread and napoleon cakes… They even threw in two extra big cups of mousse cakes for free! Anyways, with many more options to explore, I’m truly excited!
(Although I have to say, bakeris are addicting, I am worrying about my future waistline now, cuz ever since I discovered about Chinese bakeries, I eat those goodies for breakfast and sometimes late night snacks all the time…)

I have a dirty mind. A very little dirty mind. Every time I see this place, or even think of it, I automatically think of Maxim. That’s right. And no, I’m not having a moment, you dirtyfreaks.
It’s insane how many small bakeries have turned into chains in the last few years. I didn’t even know this place existed until I was waiting for a bus in front of it. They’re smart enough to put a bakery right in front of an overcrowded bus stop on a busy section. This is like fast food for Chinese people.
I always get the hot dog bun because it always tastes like it just came straight freshly made from the oven. I’m not sure if I like the sausage more or the bread more.
Unlike most bakeries, the bread is made ready to go with plastic baggies. This is more sanitary and faster since this is a to-​go place with no seating or standing.
What I don’t like is that they charge Fay Da prices for bread but I think this place has much better quality and tasting then the now-​cheap in quality Fay Da. Pretty hot, hmm?

For those who get appreciate the comparison between the two main Chinatowns, Maxin Café franchise is the Flushing version of Manna House/​Fay Da in Manhattan. With the four stores situated within 10 – 15 blocks of each other, even Starbucks has nothing on Maxin. Of the four Maxin Café locations in Queens, the one on 40 – 06 Main is the smallest, no-​frills bakery within a ten-​block radius. It is perfectly located right off the stairway from the subway station next to Popeye’s.
Competing against the likes of Vanilla Café, Tai Pan, and Yi Mei Fung, Maxin stands out as the one bakery with the most reasonably priced baked goods and tea/​coffee drinks along with a solid selection of buns including pineapple, cocktail, red bean, and roast pork. While the other bakeries are more focused on specialty baked goods, Maxin’s selection is about the basic Chinese baked goods. The selection is actually even more impressive given the small space at this location. Lastly, if the banner outside doesn’t already beat you over the head with the deal, bubble tea drinks are BOGO free until 9pm!
