Flushing Meadows Corona Park

A great park with fields for outdoor sports. My son participated in the free soccer clinic sponsored by DV7 and Assemblyman F. Moya. The children all got a quality soccer lesson, a free shirt, took pictures with soccer champ David Villa and got to interact with boys and girls who love the sport. The facilities and staff at fields 8 and 9 were friendly and very helpful, restrooms very clean (Yay, parks dept.). The only reason why this didn’t get a perfect score is the lack of shade! The bleachers are on the sidelines, beautiful views of the field, park and the SUN! Tip: sunscreen, umbrella, hat, etc…

I come here occasionally, as there is the Aquatic Pool in Flushing. There are several roads that only authorized vehicles can use.

My dog loves this park!!! We always have so much here.
The scenery is so beautiful! It’s usually a little crowded during the weekends but during the week day it’s the perfect place to walk around.

Extremely crowded and messy on the weekends. Garbage all over from picnic leftovers to bbq animal carcasses. Bottle caps strewn along the grass. Urine under the Van Wyck overpass. Leftover rotting bait around the lake. Vagrants asking you for food. Potholes and craters along the north side and south side loops (slight improvement in front of Queens museum only).
All this is very unfortunate since this is one of the larger and more beautiful parks in NYC. Also home of the US open and NY Mets which doesn’t help since organizers will use the grassy fields as a parking lot.
Best time to come is to gear up on a frigid, sunny winter day. Have the park to yourselves.

There were a lot of kids, so it must be good for families. It was $ 8 a person for us. We brought our own skates. I felt that the ice wasn’t very smooth– my skate kept grabbing other ruts, which wasn’t fun. I liked that they had a lot of lockers available. We were able to fit two pairs of adults shoes and a small backpack in there.
It was good to be active and I did have fun.

This park is pretty much the definition of a family/​community park – something Manhattan will never have. Anything a child could want, they will find here, whether that be swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, or fun fountains in which to make a wish.

I believe Flushing Meadows Park in NYC’s finest park because it’s family park, not a touristic park.
Pros: I believe all sports are played here: Ecuadorians play volleyball, Pakistanis play cricket, young kids skate in their own park, we have tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, a swimming pool, there is soccer everywhere, and more. The US Open (which has free days!!) is also great.
I love all festivals that happen here. Multicultural and diverse: Dragon Boat Festivals, Independence Day Festivals, Movie Nights, you can see it all and really get a sense of what New York is like, plus you get to eat the best from the different communities who live in Queens.
More pros: Flushing Bay, a massive lake with picnic areas around it, lots of trees and wildlife. The Queens Zoo, the Museum, the Queens Bike Tour.
Cons: Some areas seem unattended. especially polluted lakes. There should be more eco-​friendly, environmentally conscious campaigns which involve kids more.

The site of the 1964 World’s Fair! I was so excited when spent the day there. There was so much history!
I was there during one of the NYRR half marathons rooting on my friends and family. I spent my time looking around the park and enjoying all of the monuments. I hope they preserve the items left from the World’s Fair. This is such a wonderful park.
If you are visiting here (if you remember the World’s Fair or not) come and visit this park. You won’t be disappointed.
Some day I intend to go back. There are so many parks and so little time!

One of the crown jewel parks of the 5 boroughs of NYC. This one for Queens with ample green space and areas to play and relax in the park. It’s a large park that houses the famous world’s fair unisphere and were the grounds for the worlds fair. BBQ areas, a olympic aquatic center, the US Open tennis grounds, Queens museum, and the Queens Science center. It’s a wonderful park to spend ones lazy summer days or just for a chill walk in the rest of the seasons.

I’ve become very fond of this part of town. The park is nice for a stroll, I love the history behind the park, being from the World’s Fair and like seeing the statues and unisphere left behind from that time.
Not to mention there is the Queens museum, where you can see the NYC panorama, tennis centre, Queens Zoo and Queens Theatre. So much to explore!

This is a dope park. There is an unisphere art piece in the middle of the park. They turn on the fountains on the weekends. Awesome site.
There is also a museum in the park as well. Didn’t get a chance to go in.
Had a great time strolling around the park on a warm New York day.

Nice park. Not overly crowded. Wish they would have public restrooms around, we had to go to the Queens Zoo to use one.

My family and I love this park! We come here for numerous activities-​fitness, softball and picnics. Any day is great to visit. Summer is usually one of our favorite times bc of the surrounding sprinklers around the globe. Plus, there is the small zoo where you can watch the horses n lamas thru the gates.
My only complaint is the bathroom conditions. They are not too sanitized, lack of toilet paper and no hand soap.

This place is huge!
You can play soccer, tennis, and other sports here.
You can rent a bike and ride around the park without fear of running into someone because once again, this place is huge! There is a lot of areas that is not heavily occupied.
The unisphere is here. Technically, you are not supposed to go in and play with the water but people do it anyway. If you want to get wet without breaking the rules, you can stand by the edge and water is sure to hit you.
There is a little pond with ducks swimming around in it, really cute.
The park is also attached to the botanical garden.
There are bathrooms and a little food stand at the entrance.

Large park in Queens is good to come for an afternoon stroll or a picnic. Once home to the World’s Fair in the 1960s, the park has crumbled a bit. But, thanks to much needed funding, it’s in much better shape and a nice place. Other points of interest are the Queens Museum and Queens Zoo.

Forever known to me as «the park in that was in MIB.» A great memory if you ask me.
This park is tremendous! The parts I’ve visited have always had a several activities. They have 2, 4, and 6 seater bikes for reasonable prices. They also have cruiser bikes and paddle boats for rent.
The grounds are clean and spacious. Lots of bike paths but an equal amount of grass to lay on and tons of trees for shade. The parking lot is a short walk to the grass in case you need to make a trip back to the car. Many people grill here and it hasn’t been overwhelming crowded where you feel like people are on top of you.
There’s a small store right next to the rental hut which has drinks, snacks and ice cream but only takes cash! The bathrooms are far and need a huge Clorox overhaul.

Came here to attend the Louis Armstrong festival on Saturday (⁶⁄₂₀). So glad that Queens is trying hard to promote the culture and history that we have here. Everyone needs to know about it especially in regards to jazz. The festival was small, it’s the second year of its existence and Queens College, being one of the sponsors made a good effort. Lots of activities for the family, two beer gardens indoors and many of the food trucks that NYers enjoy in other parts of the city
Now on to the music. They had an interesting lineup of performances spanning traditional jazz, fusion, hip hop, salsa, afrobeat, and rock. Anitbalas was incredible, Rebirth Brass Band was dope, glad I got to see them live. Then there was Ozomatli, which was a lil different from what I’m used to, kinda reminds me of the stuff my Tio plays with a west coast vibe.
Then of course, the main reason a lot of people came: Ms Lauryn Hill!!! The Queen herself in Queens blessing us with her presence. At first I got scared because I remember what happened when she was late to the stage at Brooklyn Bowl. Then all my troubles washed away when she glided across the stage. The atmosphere changed instantly. She performed a mixture of old and new hits, all while it was raining down on us but nobody cared about getting wet. When she started free styling all of us got super hyped.
And then boom it was over, it was an experience that couldn’t be replicated. I could hear guys in the crowd offering her wedding proposals. The whole scene was dope.
Only issue was getting home, thanks to the MTA as usual, the 7 train was on some next sh.
Not enough trains to get everyone home, and only express trains running. No one cared cause Lauryn Hill loves us!

Flushing Meadows Corona Park is also known as the destination for the US Open, Hall of Science, Queens zoo, small amusement rides (next to the zoo), Queens Museum of the arts, Queens theater in the Park, Terrance on the Park, previous host of the World Fair (1964 and 1939) and others. While the Arthur Ashe Stadium and the Uni sphere are the big stands out and most popular tourist attractions. The park quite transforms when the US Open comes to town. The water fountains at the uni sphere is going off and everything is on point. However, When US Open is here, it’s like the park with the extra make up on. You gotta see the park for what it really is, without the make up. For me, its all about the locals and the people that occupancy the park on a daily basis. On a regular day, the water fountains at the uni spheres are off. With the numerous soccer fields and vast green space, to me the park is a field of soccer dreams and family leisure.
I biked thru the park multiple times a week. These days, there are some construction taking places on the Arthur Ashe stadium– a dome is being built. And a water filtration plant going to be built next to Meadow Lake. If you been to Meadow Lake, its deeply needed. If you want a nice scenic/​calm spot, take a photo next to the meadow lake dock. Also worth mentioning, the café/​store next to meadow lake is now open.
The uni sphere is quite nice. The wow factor is when the water fountains are turned on. Be prepare to get some mists depending on the direction of the wind. For kids on a hot summer day, this is the ultimate sprinkler party.
If you are here at the park on a regular day, you will see locals from all ages playing soccer– on the fields, parking lots, on the gas, on the walk paths and everything between. Soccer runs deep in this community. The other thing that you notice is that people are bbqing. People set up their grill everywhere (there are some permanent grills thru out the park). If you didn’t bring your grill and is craving for bbq, there are food stands/​carts set up near 111street and 45^th avenue. If you are going to buy food at this park– this is where I recommend. While its street food, its a good deal. The Queens Night Market takes place on Saturday in the parking lot.
It’s overall a fantastic park. A lot to offer and see.

On average I come to this park 2 – 3 times a year or so for the past 20+ years. It’s a great place for kids. It’s relatively big and there’s lots to do and there’s great places to eat surrounding the park.
The landscape is always looking proper. You can BBQ, picnic, play sports, visit the hall of science or the children’s zoo. Parking is free and plentiful. When it’s the right weather to enjoy the outdoors you can always go ice skating indoors in the colder months. There’s also sporting events if you are into that sort of thing, I however am not.
One thing is for certain, if you come to this park you will not be bored. Summerstage is throwing some upcoming event in the next few months so stay tuned to the calendar. There’s also the anniversarry of the worlds fair as well as cultural festivals.

A great place to get away and go for a jog. The sounds of nature coupled with the feel of wind makes for a great escape from the hustle and bustle that encompasses NYC. The grass is green, especially in the summer time. This place is a choice outing for the people who enjoy outdoor BBQ’s and don’t want to make the trek to Exit 37. Also, when Spring rolls around, its a great place to either play a soccer game or watch as the the players troubadeur across green land and channel their inner «FIFA world cup» to score that ever elusive goal (crowd roars).
Home to a multitude of birds and tiny insects that follow along as you jog and traverse the circular pathway to make back to the steps. Great place to hang out with the whole family or if you just want to take out the kids to the swings.

Alguien ha visto la pelicula Men In Black??? Una de las ultimas escenas es donde se cargan una bola del mundo enorme, bueno estas escenas se rodaron en este parque. A parte de por esto, este parque es mas conocido mundialmente por que en el se encuentran las pistas de tenis donde se disputa el U.S. Open. Esta alejado de manhattan pero os recomiendo que os acerqueis a verlo.

Der Park liegt etwas ausserhalb in Queens, doch wer länger in New York ist und irgendwann die Nase voll hat vom Trubel in Manhattan, der sollte hier rausfahren. Im Park stehen mehrere Sehenswürdigkeiten, das ist zum einen eine riesige Weltkugel die dem ein oder anderen aus King of Queens bekannt sein dürft. Auch die beiden Türme aus Men in Black stehen gleich nebenan, genauso wie die Tennis-​Arena Arthur Ashe in der die US Open stattfinden. Als ich im Frühjahr dort war blüten gerade die Mandelbäume, was dem ganzen noch die Krone aufgesetzt hat.
Nur 4 Punkte, weil ich den europäischen Parks mehr abgewinnen kann :)
