The pulled pork nachos & elote were delicious & the best part… the cashier knew they were gluten free! It’s so much easier to eat out when the staff is knowledgable!

I love Citifield mostly because I get to chow down on El Verano when I’m there. If you like Mexican food, skip the long lines at Shake Shack and eat here instead. The tacos are small, so if you’re making a meal of it get 3(my favorite is the barbacoa, so I’ll usually get two of those and a chicken). The elote(Mexican corn on the cob) is messy but worth it. Skip the margaritas and wash your food down with a cold craft beer from the stand right near El Verano.

Pretty good. Was at Citi Field today and couldn’t decide where to eat. I have tried the tacos here before and didn’t love them but I gave it another try today and I’m glad I did. I got the vegetarian quesadilla and it was delish! It was packed with corn and mushrooms and other veggies and it came with a lime sour cream based dipping sauce. They had other options of fillings like pork, chicken and beef. You could get these fillings either in a taco or quesadilla. Other sides included corn and nachos which both looked good. They also had some good looking drinks like a skinny girl margarita or peach sangria.

During my latest visit to Citi Field, I had my heart set on Shake Shack but after seeing the long, never-ending line I decided to pass this time around. The lines at El Verano Taqueria and Box Frites looked like nothing compared to that of Shake Shack or Blue Smoke, so I quickly jumped on those. I decided to get the Taco Sampler($ 10.50) which consisted of 3 soft-shell Tacos: Skirt Steak, Chicken, and Pork. You get 2 cups of sauces(Salsa and something green colored) along with a Lime wedge. The meats were tender and juicy and the flavors are bold, which made for 3 perfectly seasoned Tacos. REALLYGOOD! My favorite was the Skirt Steak. Just beware, it is very messy! By the time I devoured them, I had left over drippings on my shirt, jeans, and my bag!

Between this, Shake Shack, and Blue Smoke, this may be the best food court in an MLB ballpark. I got the soft-shell taco sampler: delicious! I should know what the three different tacos were, but honestly, those are just details. All were equally delicious and I consumed them so fast that I didn’t even have time to register them individually. So if you’re bummed that the Shake Shack line is too long, no worries, El Verano Taqueria is a hidden but not so hidden gem.

Very good tacos and no wait as opposed to the long long line at the overhyped Shake Shack(am I missing something with that place? I just dont get the appeal) Had the 3 taco sampler and was very pleased. 1 beef, 1 pork and 1 chicken. All nicely seasoned. They give you 2 cups of good salsa and a little lime wedge. Not bad for 10.50 when u consider a pretzel is 6.25.

Have fun on that Shake Shack line. I’ll cruise this line 6 times before you order. The best food at Citi! The Elote is awesome. Corn with Mexican cheese! Yes please! The carnitas are fantastic. Super good pork tacos. The line is never huge, but it always goes fast.

It’s true, the tacos were delicious… I would definitely recommend the $ 10.50 sampler, because they’re pretty small. I did the $ 8 for two, and wound up feeling very envious of my boyfriend’s third taco(that’s what she said? hmm, not quite…) However, I was considering only giving this 2 stars because of the absolutely atrocious margarita they serve. Now I realize there’s something inherently ridiculous about ordering a Patron margarita at a baseball game, and if you want to say it’s my own fault, I should have been drinking beer like any normal baseball fan, well, you have a point. But it’s on the menu, and I like margaritas, so I was suckered in. If there was any Patron in it, it was completely overwhelmed by the frighteningly irridescent green goo that comprised the rest of the drink. It tasted like a liquid Jolly Rancher, so if you’re into that, go for it, but it was $ 12…and that isn’t including the dental bill that you will likely incur. Neither myself nor my friend’s bf could finish one; I may return to El Verano next baseball season, but I kind of feel like there was some lesson in there about sticking to hot dogs and Miller Lite at the ballpark.

A solid four stars, maybe a little more. The chicken tacos are complexly and deeply flavorful; try them with the medium salsa. The pork and steak varieties, while also quite good, don’t quite do it as much for me. Worth sampling, and in fact, the 3-taco, 1-of-each sampler is your better value here.

El Verano Taqueria at Citi Field is located behind center field at the Taste of the City food court. Tacos: $ 8 for two of either the Steak, Chicken or Carnitas Tacos. $ 10.50 lets you sample 1 of each I tried all but the chicken, and the tacos were totally delish. You can taste that they use good quality meat and let those flavors shine instead of drowning it with salt. The sauces they provide(different for each taco) are an excellent compliment to the tender, tasty meat. I do wish, however, that they heated up the tortillas a bit longer. In the mood to make your fellow fans jealous when you return to your seat? Bring back some Mexican(steamed not grilled) Corn slathered in mayo, cotija cheese & a sprinkling of cayenne — $ 4.50 Expensive? Yes. If you’re sitting there with your mouth open, I hope it’s because I’m making you hungry rather than shocked for the high prices. You’re paying $ 4 for bottled water at Citi Field already, so why so surprised?! If you get the itch for some Mexican, the Taqueria is a good choice.

For many pained New York Mets fans like myself, the baseball season is as bittersweet as things comes. In all likelihood, the 162 up-and-down games will be yet another disappointing season, resulting in watching our cross-town rival celebrate another ringed victory. Despite the depressing state of the team, there is still one source of excitement dwelling in Citi Field that could prompt fans to hop on the 7-train and trek out to Queens – the tacos in the right-field concession stand. You might think I’m being sarcastic, but the tacos El Verano Taqueria serves up are a home run for the home team. Unless you somehow missed them in 2009 when Citi Field first opened, El Verano’s tacos will be back again, helping Mets fans get through 9 innings of escalated blood pressure baseball. Floyd Cardoz, the executive chef at Danny Meyer’s upscale Indian restaurant, Tabla, concocted three of the tastiest tacos on this side of the border. His chicken mole pipian, carnitas, and chili marinated skirt steak tacos are exceptional, and are each accompanied by their own harmonious salsas. I usually only go for steak or carnitas in my tacos, but the chicken mole pipian taco takes the cake. It is shredded and moist, and has the most unique blend of flavors – mole, green chili, and pumpkin seeds. You can’t go wrong with any of these tacos, but if you’re going to select one, go with the chicken. And while stadium food prices are usually exorbitant, El Verano’s tacos are a steal. For $ 8 you can get two tacos, and $ 10.50 entitles you to three. Considering the old Shea Stadium vended the likes of soggy hotdogs and stale pretzels, El Verano’s tacos have become a bright point in an otherwise dull food [and baseball] atmosphere.

Keith Hernandez was right about this place it is one of the great places to get food at Citi field. The tacos here are amazing, some of the best tacos I have had in NY. They have three different tacos; pork, skirt steak, and chicken. Each one has its own unique salsa and toppings. The shell of the taco is a soft corn tortilla and is just so so but the fillings are amazing(the skirt steak and pork are the best). This is in no way your typical ballpark food. They also serve Brooklyn Brewery beer which is much better than the Bud Light you normally expect at a typical ballpark eatery. The prices are also good for a ballpark; normally you expect to lay down 10 dollars for an awful platter of nachos, but not here. If you’re at Citi you really must stop here. I’m thinking of going to Citi just for the tacos.
