I’m one of those extremely picky eaters; especially when it comes to my childhood foods. Egg waffles aka gai dan jai in Cantonese, is a Hong Kong style snack. They recently brought the cart back after a good 5 years. I don’t know why all these egg waffle carts and sellers disappeared but I’m definitely grateful for their comeback in flushing. As I am grateful for their comeback, this isn’t the authentic Hong Kong egg waffles because it’s just way too soggy. The authentic egg waffles are hard/crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Minus 2 stars because they’re just way too soggy and a bit overpriced.

Ok so I absolutely love egg cakes and have been going to the same guy for almost 5 years now in chinatown. I am glad that there is finally one in flushing! That means I don’t have to trek all the way to chinatown to get these tasty treats. Right now they are situated right next to the chase bank and the skewer guy on the same block. The latest that I have been there is around 745 so I don’t know what their hours are yet. This place is just a street cart so the prices pretty much reflect that. $ 1.50 for 15 pieces. I should have gotten more since my bag was only half full but these snacks are absolutely addicting. You can just keep popping them in your mouth and kids love it too. If you don’t know what an egg cake is then you are missing out. It tastes like a waffle but shaped into these tiny egg shaped puffs. Only downside is that they don’t give you 20 pieces for a dollar which is what I am used to and they don’t sell them as a whole waffle only in the pieces which are not crispy and only half puffy. But still really good when slightly warm.
