Chung Hwa Book Store

I was looking for a book at this bookstore (for my mom), unfortunately, they didn’t have it. I was told they can order it for me, and it’s going to take about 2weeks. That’s fine. So I ordered it. I paid everything in full. They said they will contact me once the shipment has arrived.
I was waiting… more than two weeks, 20days to be exact. No one called me. It’s fine, I called them. They said the edition I wanted is already discontinued. Okay. I went back to the store, the mid aged guy (I assumed he’s the boss) said they will refund me. So I was asked if I want to order the second edition for me instead. Okay, I can wait another two weeks.
So it’s been 5 weeks since I first ordered it. I’m already getting a little upset because no one ever called me!!! I called again. The guy who picked up the phone told me the shipment is coming within these two days, okay, whatever, I had already waited for a month, two more days is nothing. Today, is the second day after I called, still… NO CALL. I just went straight to the store again. They spent a while looking for my order, end up they said they have to refund me because the book had never came.
OMG, I get really pissed. Not because of my book didn’t come, but the customer service they have! I was questioning them how come no one ever call me the whole time?! The lady who take care of me gave me an attitude and saying they were planning to call me on thursday. TODAY IS THURSDAY, it’s the end of the day! SERIOUSLY!!! No apology and even raise their voice at me?! It’s extremely ridiculous! This lady kept saying she was going to call me later today. It took her a good while to find the receipt and figure out what happened to my order, seriously I don’t think they will call me. There are always few people working in this store but no one follow up with customers orders. Unacceptable attitude when they only ask for the payment but do nothing about the follow ups.
I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. NOT RECOMMENDING THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WHO IS READING THIS!

You don’t get bookstores like this anymore. Crammed full to the brim, organized and clean, tons of variety and selection. Service was wonderful and it made me incredibly happy to see a constant stream of regular customers come in and out, picking up newspapers and requesting book orders. This place is the the absolute pinnacle of what a quality bookstore should be.
Most of the books are in Traditional but they had quite a selection of Simplified versions as well. They’re all mixed together so you’d have to shuffle about the shelves.

Chung Hwa is my go-​to for manga in Chinese. I check in at Chung Hwa every few months to see if the newest volume of my manga serial has arrived. Manga is on the second floor. Evidenced by the number of volumes on my shelf, I’ve visited the bookstore at least 30 times now, and have never walked through their first floor.

I saw some Buddhist statues, rupas, in the window, and I was hoping to find a larger selection, but actually the best ones were in the window. I think if you want a rupa you have to go into the Manhattan Chinatown because I didn’t really see much in this Chinatown.
Inside it’s a bookstore, and there’s no English books (fair enough) and upstairs they have more gift type items, art supplies.
