Very nice staff, clean space, beautiful art from around the Middle East. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced — try the lamb kabab!

Absolutely love this place! Food tastes amazing and service is wonderful. Atmosphere is nice and cozy and the food is made to perfection. This is my favorite spot to go to because it makes me feel right at home and even though it may get busy at times, service is very day and friendly.

Not too happy about the service. Effortless and small salads. Prices are good, Beef is good, rice is a little bit too spicy for me. Portions are good sizes, but if your looking for good kabobs go to Colbeh or Shiraz

Good I love their rice it’s the way they flavor it. They have good food, the restaurant isn’t extravagant but it’s great for catering. You could sit and eat, not really a place for a first date that’s all. Food is great they aren’t too expensive and for the most part the food is fresh

I have great memories from college days. Food was great! Owner was stingy about the sumak though, but he would end up sharing it anyway. We had to return it after getting our fill.

I’ve been coming to this place for 10 years the kebabs are truly fantastic the brown rice no one else can make it like is a true Afghani restaurant not an imposter like the restaurant up the road a little bit Kabul kabob. And here they give you excellent food excellent service and a family type atmosphere which I really like. Their prices are very very extremely reasonable. For a $ 10 plate you get the works at Kabul kabob the same plate would cost you double for low quality food and smelly rude waiters. plus they tack on this stupid gratuity that the illiterate people who work there can’t explain to you what it is. At choopan I feel so bad for the girls that work there they work so hard and can you believe that a table of 6 people would leave a dollar really upsets me the cheapness of people. if you can’t afford to tip then maybe you shouldn’t eat excellent Halal restaurant keep it up guy’s your doing a fantastic job.

Excellent food, terrible service. Maybe because I’m from Texas, I’m used to a little more courtesy and attention when dining. The waitor just didn’t seem interested in her job. There were only 3 tables with guests while we were there with our party of 3 so it’s not like she was overwhelmed. She hardly ever came by to check on us. Luckily, the food was great, otherwise I would have given them 1 star.

The ambience is a bit dull however they have arrangements for prayer. The all women staff appeared to be a bit rude. Their menu has chicken wings which included a soda, they told me it wasn’t included. No problem fine, $ 1 for soda won’t break my pocket. I peered over at the fridge and saw Sunkist, so I asked for a can. The waitress sternly stated«We don’t have it!, only coke & diet coke!» I said«I am looking at several cans of Sunkist in your fridge!!!» She then looked at the fridge and said«oops sorry» I ordered the family platter with kabuli palow(carrots and raisins), the waitress brought out plain rice! When I asked her if she forgot that I had ordered kabuli, she ran in the back and brought out carrots and raisins to sprinkle over our rice… Food was good but overall not a good experience! Not going back here again!

Family style restaurant. It’s kind of old and dark inside but cozy enough. Food is great, kebabs, mantoo, soup, bolani and pilaf are all delicious. The service is not as good as the food, and sometimes may be disappointing.

Don’t why this place has gotten such bad reviews but their food is really good! I had a combo platter from them in which the chicken and beef kebabs were really good. Their rice is really really good! Can’t say about the service since I took the food to go.

Idk what the other people are talking about in their reviews but if I had one last meal to eat before I died this would be it. The rice and chicken are absolutely fab. The staff isn’t the friendliest but the lady already knows me because I eat there so much. Honestly sometimes I just want to eat my meal in peace and never be bothered till it’s time to pay and this is the place for it. I wish I could give them a 6 or 7 stars but sadly I can’t :(

I’ve been coming here for years and sadly watching this place deteriorate. The owner is a wonderful man and unfortunately after losing his brother to cancer has given up on running his business properly. The Service is horrible as there is one waitress who neverrrr greets anyone or seats anyone is horrible. Her English is as horrible as her physique, she often forgets to bring out bread with appetizers and one time when she did it was frozen. I still kept coming for the food regardless of the service but that dream has turned into a nightmare. Don’t waste your time eating in order out

Mantoo was great as usual. However, the lamb chops were not that great. They were tough and very well done, something I really, really dislike. Lamb is delicious, and should be tender. That was definitely not the case here. Also, the service was very mediocre.

Ordered the chicken Kabab as a lunch special. Had to be the worst I have ever eaten. The chicken was so dry and flavorless. Def not fresh. Kinda pathetic. How do you mess up grilled chicken?!

I am not a big fan of Afgani food but my boyfriend cant get enough. Since it was his turn to pick the place I decided to give it try without a complaint. The place is small and cozy filled with cultural décor. The painting on the wall although its only few pieces it will definitely catch your eye. From the look of the place it’s clean. I let my boyfriend order so I really didn’t take a look at the menu. We got the rice with chicken with a side chicken kebab. The food was great. The taste was on point. I added the spicy sauce that was on the side which made each bite a great delight. I did enjoy it but yes I have had better. The entrée was filling for both of us. Prior to our entrée we had a salad which was drenched in the white sauce that many of you might be familiar with. But if you ever ate chicken and rice from the carts you will know what the sauce I am referencing to. I really didn’t care for that much white sauce on my salad but my boyfriend loved it. Only reason I gave this place this three stars because when we ordered one entrée the waitress kept asking to order more. This is so annoying because my boyfriend explained that we were only able to finish one entrée because we don’t each much. I don’t understand why we can’t order what we want without giving an explanation. Plus they actually added bit more money on the entrée than what was on the menu which was not the tax.

Pleasantly surprised. I ordered chicken tikka and beef kofta. Both were well seasoned and moist. Bread that came with the meal was also tasty. Excellent white sauce and great for take out.

I’ve eaten here so many times, that the people working here know my family and I, and they also know what we usually order. Anyway I went in with 2 friends recently and the food was just like it usually is(good overall, chicken kabab was a bit dry though). Service however was extremely disappointing. There’s a middle-aged Afghan lady that works as a waitress here, and she was the one that serviced us that night. We finished our meal, asked for the check, and asked if they could pack the leftovers for us. Instead, she brought us 3 plastic takeout containers and told us that we could pack it ourselves. Excuse me? This isn’t Chucky Cheese, lady. If I’m paying $ 14/plate, I expect better service than that. I called her out on it and said that«I’ve eaten here before and you never asked me to pack my own food to go», to which she replied, «Well now I’m asking you to do it». I said, «No other restaurant asks their patron to pack their own food»…and she had the nerve to tell me that I could«go eat somewhere else if I didn’t like it here». We kept going back and forth until I realized that I was arguing with someone that had no manners, so it was pointless to continue. You can’t teach people like that proper etiquette… some people are just rude by nature and don’t know what respect means. Needless to say, I go to Bakhtar instead now. Better food, better service, and it’s less expensive.
