Bright Dental PC

This is a review for the Flushing branch, as I’ve never been to the Chinatown one.
There are multiple dentists here, so who you get is based on luck and the day you visit. They do a decent job in basic dental procedures like any other clinic, but provide less services. They do not put a layer of the shining powder and they do not give you a «goodie bag» with toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss like other dental clinics I’ve visited.
But what really warrants this one star review is the wait time, which is just ridiculous. There’s no point in making an appointment because even if you are early, you still end up waiting for hours! My theory is that appointment times do not matter; they go by the order you arrive and the time you put your name on the sign-​in sheet. So if someone has an appointment slot after you but decides to come in 1.5 hours early, you will get cut. I also believe that they book multiple people in the same slot just to get more customers.
I’d advise you to stay away if you value your time. There are plenty of better alternatives around the area. However, if you like to sit around and twirl your thumbs doing nothing then, by all means, come here. You will not be disappointed.

This place sucks so much. My gum is bothering me, and told me that i can’t just walk in, need to make an appointment. And the lady is so rude no respect at all. After talking to me just hang up on me, w/​o saying sorry or goodbye. They should fired all the people in the front. Really upset me. Don’t go to this place.

For me, price matters — cleaning was $ 85. The place isn’t cleanest, people aren’t the most professional, but I come here, get my cleaning, and haven’t had too many issues. Most important — make the appointment for 10 a.m. and get there by 9:45. This allows you to get in and out by 10:30. Otherwise, be prepared to wait for hours.
If you have dental coverage, I suggest you look elsewhere for a significantly better-​run practice. If you don’t mind being treated like a piece of meat in a dental factory, then this place is fine.

So I’ve been to this place a total of 4 times, twice for teeth cleaning, once for wisdom teeth removal and once for stitch removal.
First teeth cleaning was a walk in and they took me in 30 minutes, it was fast and I was surprised and happy with the service — they didn’t use fluoride after the cleaning.
Second teeth cleaning I made an appointment, was asked to come early so I arrived 15 minutes before my appt time and was forced to wait over an hour to be seen. I was told nothing while I was sitting until I asked what happened and the staff told me «they had a later lunch. sorry». Got my teeth cleaning — again no fluoride. The dentist who cleaned me told me that I should get my wisdom teeth removed because it was highly likely that they were going to decay, so I thought about it and set up the appt to see their oral surgeon.
Side Note: I called in the day after making the appointment to try and get the doctor’s full name to see online reviews on him but the receptionist was unable to provide his first name… like really? you have an oral surgeon on staff and you don’t know his full name? Later I found out his name was Dr. Din Lam
Wisdom teeth removal day was what you would expect, kindda painful and scary. Dr. Lam gave me a rundown on what to expect, pros cons, ect. Kept me nicely medicated and pain free, and removed the wisdom teeth fairly quick. He only had to stitch one part out of the 4 removed teeth. The stitches were black. From what I hear from other’s who’ve had this procedure — normally the stitches should have dissolved naturally but these had to be removed manually by a dentist. After going back to the waiting area I anesthesia to wear off, they gave me an ice pack. When I was leaving they demanded their ice pack back… they were SO CHEAP! Like really? No fluoride, no ice pack, no self dissolving stitches, rusted looking equipment.
It was a complete mistake to give this place a second chance and now I’m totally suffering for it. On top all of this, my health insurance company called me… to tell me that they (Bright Dental) f***ed up on their paperwork, what does this mean? My health insurance declined to pay for one of the teeth removed. So my health insurance company called Bright Dental trying to get the issue resolved but they have yet to fix it.
What truly sucks is that IF (god forbid) I have any complications from the procedure I am forced to go back to them because they were the ones that performed it. DAMMIT!

Im confused …
I went here because its my PCD according to my insurance. I had a 515 appointment, showed up on time, filled out my info. etc etc. Same old.
So coming in for a regular check up after not having gone to a dentist in a while, I expected to take some sort of xray prior to having my regular checkup/​cleaning. But no, there was no xray. Okay thats fine because maybe I didnt need one (which doesnt make sense, xrays are suppose to be taken around every 6 months so I didnt really understand this)
So the dentist proceeded to give me a regular cleaning, didnt ask me about anything regarding my teeth, and after the cleaning was done she said okay youre done you can come back in X amount of time.
At this point I was SUPER confused. .. because my upper wisdom teeth are VISIBLY growing out (as in it broke the gums and you can literally see the tooth outside) SO … being curious and you know, concerned I asked if I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed.
Dentist said «No because none of them are showing yet «
LOL. I laughed & told her about my upper wisdom teeth & that my lower ones have already been removed. which she didnt even notice… which is bizarre to me cos Im pretty sure its noticable.
Thats when she said okay I can refer you (lol wtf your the dentist why did I have to mention this) and then stated that I have a cavity in one of my back molars. WHAAAAT? First off, you didnt take ANY xray to even double check and second you didnt even say anything to me & if I had ignored the fact that I needed my wisdom teeth removed she wouldnt have mentioned anything about a cavity! SO WEIRD.
I made an appointment for my so called cavity but Im scared.
& still confused …
I mean she was nice and all I guess …. .
