Place was a nice little Italian restaurant. Ordered stuffed artichoke which came out cold with no flavor. Would not suggest that as an appetizer. Salad was going. Artchoke and basil soup was good. Recommend the orange chicken dish. It was crispy with just a hint of orange sauce. Steak wrapped with spinach and mozzarella was also good. The fried broccoli Patton as the side vegetable was really good.

Giving them 1 star is even pushing it! Horrible service! The owner Mike needs to learn customer service and how to treat customers whom eat there every month! Lecturing a patron on coming in to spend money rather than taking it to go is not his business. Will never go back and will make sure everyone in the area knows it too! Good luck especially since I’ve seen roaches on their patio!

The excuse tonight was that there was a big party in the other room. The pizza was bad and I only took 3 bites of my seafood linguine. The sauce was extremely runny and when I asked the manager about it he said it was not right and that he would fix it. We had already waited a long time for our food due to «the party in the other room» and it took another 10+ minutes to have my dish fixed, which I asked to package to go. Took another 10+ minutes to take care of check which was handled incorrectly. Another wait for that to be corrected. Manager ended up saying the food was on the house. We left it there and I left hungry. Very sad for a place that is supposedly a town staple.

Services was okay, had to wait awhile. When we got our food it was a bit cold, but the food was good. Ill give this place another try another day.

Went there for lunch with family, disappointed. The shrimp alfredo featured undercooked shrimp. The marinara sauce tasted like chemicals and sour. The alfredo sauce was just weird, and nobody ended up eatting their food. The pecan chicken had a really odd sweet orange glaze on the pasta that tasted like donuts. Our waitress was very nice and the service was good, but the food was just terrible!

My son and I frequent Salerno’s at least once a month. We started off with Calamari, it was heavily breaded. Their was more bread then Calamari we had to pick apart because the stuck together in clumps. Today I ordered the Salmon pasta. Thought I would try something different than my usual. Not impressed at all, yes I had a decent portion but the pasta did not have any flavor. I had more mushrooms than salmon. My sons Fettucini, the chicken was dry and again with the mushrooms. The description did not have mushrooms listed… I think it may be time to search for another Italian restaurant.

We ate here last week and looked forward to it due to recommendations from a friend. The bread served was COLD and stale. Is that the norm here? It was like day old stale garlic toast. Disgusting! The pizza was ok, but based on other restaurants in the area, it was way overpriced for what we got, and that was even WITH a Groupon. We won’t return.

Salernos never disappoints. The lasagna and eggplant Parmesan are the bombs. Honorable mention to the pecan crusted chicken. And every soup is incredible.

It is very rare that my fatass raves about a salad. The caesar salad(that came with my meal, mind you) was soooo good and filling. I don’t think I’ve ever finished a salad but I ate this to the last bite. The bread here is delicious and they are generous about refilling it. I’ve tried a few dinners from the menu and to be honest I don’t know which I love the most — but I will note I’ve never had a bad meal here. It’s all good in my book. I love the atmosphere because its classy — but laid back! And always soooo quiet when I come here for lunch. As for the staff, they are always nice and have never treated us differently for using a Groupon. If you’ve looked at my reviews you will see a few Groupon experiences FROMHELL that I’ve had. However Salerno’s is smart and realizes that Groupon is a way to BUILD businesses and returning customers. I’m definitely going to come here more often.

I brought my wife and we had a really bad experience, the worst meat pasta sauce, hot beer, honestly I won’t go back to that place.

My husband and I love Salernos! Now, I don’t love EVERYTHING on the menu. If you’re looking for a sort of sweet(to me) tomato sauce then this is your place. Since I’m not looking for that I ALWAYS order the veal piccata! I get piccata sauce on my pasta and it is DELICIOUS! We both always skip the vegetable sides as they are always«different/bad». We also get The Cake of the Cow”!! I just stuff myself because it’s always SOGOOD! I think you have to skip around the menu but my favorites have NEVER failed me! Oh! And there house salad with house dressing is the best salad EVER! Plus, if they happen to have tomato bisque as the soup of the day, you’re in luck! That soup with their bread Is fabulous!

The service is good. The food is not. I’ve been here a few times(husband likes this place) and each time I’ve ordered something different and subsequently been disappointed. This past visit I told my husband I wouldn’t eat here again. I ordered the chicken Alfredo($ 17!) and it tasted like there was pine sol or some other cleaning agent mixed into the sauce. I took one bite and promptly spit it back out. The first time we came here, we ordered the Margherita pizza. There was no tomato or fresh basil on it, only crust with a ton of melted white cheese and a few flakes of dried basil. My first time should’ve been my last. This place is way overpriced considering the quality of their food. The website says they make everything fresh and nothing is frozen but it sure doesn’t taste like it!

Reluctant to stop by per the previous reviews… But in town from Phoenix and staying with friends that wanted to take us to an «upscale» place with good food. Needless to say, we never gave them the chance to order food. The Grotto manager was extremely unfriendly and paid more attention to the TV than to us! We left after the first round of drinks! Headed to Verf’s instead and things got a 100 times better right out of the gate! Thanks Sarah at the Verf’s!!!

We’ve been pretty happy here again for a long time(after staying away a while after a series of underwhelming experiences), but just recently have seen some slips that worry us things are slipping again. Twice in the last few weeks, we’ve ordered the Artichoke Lucia only to find the last/inner 20%(including the heart) ice cold. We’re nice people so we don’t make a crazy fuss, just brought it to the attention of our server, who took it back to the kitchen and we don’t know what happened from there, since we didn’t get a new one to replace it — we didn’t ask and had eaten most of it but we also didn’t get to the best part. Nor did we get any offered accommodation on the check — nor did we ask. But just disappointing. We were not sitting in our usual place with our usual server last night — but we did point out it was the second time it had happened in recent weeks, and the owner was in the house. So i don’t know if the info got relayed to the kitchen or not, and feel fairly confident it also wasn’t relayed to the owner. Either way — just a little disappointing. We’re there at least 2 – 3 times a month, and keep wanting to support this local home grown restaurant. 95% of the time we have an excellent experience, it’s just that lately there have been some slips that cause concern.

I am a die hard Italian food lover and not easy to please. To me the mark of a good Italian Restaurant is their Caesar. Salad. Tonight was my first time at Salernos in Flower Mound and they passed the Caesar test with with flying colors! Just the right amount of anchovies and garlic! Bellissimo! I ordered the Pecan Chicken in a nice orange cream sauce! OMG! Perfection! My husband had their sampler plate and said that the marinara sauce was almost as good as mine which was the first time any restaurant has gotten THAT rating. My son got the manicotti and loved it! I can see myself becoming a regular at Salernos! Excellent food!

Decent place for Italian food — not great but not bad either. We enjoy the all you can eat lasagna on Monday nights — it’s well worth the money. It gets a 4th star not for the food but for the value!

Adolfo was our server at Selerno’s on our first visit. He was prompt and thoughtful, cautious of our specific needs. I, being a vegetartian, had many questions which he dutifully answered. Delicious food, jazz music playing; Great date night atmosphere. — Cara F*** olive garden’s chicken Alfredo. This was way better. And fresh. More flavor. Plus our server was awesome. Only 4 stars because the décor is dated but who cares, my belly is a happy one. — Daisi

I can’t believe the poor reviews here. First, some background information on me: I’m part Italian. My cousins are half Italian. I have italian recipes from their 100 percent Italian grandmother’s mother that came over on a boat from Northern Italy. I grew up around towns comprised of all 100 percent Italians. You know what we had for restaurants? Italian food restaurants and lots of them so competition and expectations were and are fierce. I have high expectations of what an Italian restaurant should be. Since moving to TX, I shop at Jimmy’s Food Store about every three months. A couple months ago, I was at Jimmy’s Food Store and the owner was working the register. He looked over my selections and said«Well, you’re the real deal aren’t you? Where are you from? Because if you were from Dallas, I would already know you.» We had a lovely chat and he told me I should check out Salerno’s in Flower Mound for genuine NorthEast style Italian food. A month later, I persuaded a friend to drive out to Flower Mound to investigate. I tried the«Italian Nachos» because it sounded so different and not like anything I had ever had. It was like an ultra thin crust pizza with jalapenos. I got the Mike’s Pasta Sampler. EXQUISITE. That is the best red sauce I have ever had in DFW, hands down. Period. the best. I thought Campisis’s was good even if they had too much garlic in their sauce. Salerno’s puts their sauce to shame. Their sauce is delicate, perfectly spiced, and made me very happy. Then I had the meatball. i closed my eyes and smiled. My friend said«Are you having a foodgasm?» I just nodded my head and shared a bite of that meatball. Best meatballs ever other than the ones I make or my aunts make. If this place was in the Northeast in a large city, you would need a reservation for a table and there would be a long wait. If you are from the Northeast and have been searching for real Italian food, look no further. Go here. Be happy. You’re welcome. The one thing that didn’t quite live up to the expectation was the«Flower Mound». I could tell they were going for a cream puff sort of pastry but their pastry seemed on the dense side and was not as sweet as I would have liked. Regardless, I would totally go again. Next time, I’ll get the tiramisu.
