I was in need of a last minute haircut on New Years Eve and couldn’t find a place that was still open at 5pm. I called Bobby and he was supposed to be closing but told me to come anyway. One of the nicest and most accommodating guys you’ll ever meet, Bobby offers drinks and has sports on TV. The shop is small but comfortable and has an old school feel. The haircut was the best I’ve ever had. I’ve never had such a detailed cut. I cant imagine that there is a better deal in St. Louis since it only cost me $ 15.

Bobby let us use his restroom during the Florissant Fall Festival which is automatic points for this mom of a 5 year old boy. I asked him at the time if he would also cut a little guy’s hair, and he said of course! I saw a sign that said, «Haircuts $ 15.00», so I was sold. A month later, I decided it was time to take my son to try this place out. Mostly I’d taken my son to Great Clips, and while they did ok, I wanted to see what a real barber could do with his hair. Not to mention, I just like the idea of a real barber shop. Bobby is a relatively new owner of the place. He told me he bought it in May 2015 and that he is originally from New York(the accent makes it pretty obvious). The atmosphere is covered with NY, KC and STL sports memorabilia. It’s clean, bright and welcoming. He offers a variety of drinks while you wait and even had some little toys for my son to play with while waiting. When it was my son’s turn, he took his time and really worked around some challenging cowlicks & very fine hair, and it turned out great. I wasn’t sure how a female taking her 5 year old into an old school barber shop would be received by any of the other patrons, but the shop is very friendly, the patrons friendly and the environment is nice & relaxing. My son also LOVED the experience, and he definitely wants to go back. Quick Tip: the shop is currently cash only, but there is a bank just 1 block away if you forget like I did.

I have historically not been a barber shop kind of guy. I actually had a traumatic experience at one as a kid and didn’t return to one for many years.(if you read my other reviews you will see that I have a long list of issues with hair cuts) I don’t remember why I first went to Magic Razor. I’m sure it was some last minute haircut need for some important event, but I am a fan now. There are two barbers in the shop, but Terry is the only one who has cut my hair(mostly because he is the only one that works Saturdays). For $ 12 I get a better cut than I have at salons where I have paid over $ 30. He is efficient and very meticulous. He is the only haircare professional who cuts my eyebrows(and God knows they need this occasionally). He also does a hot shave of the back of your neck. I don’t think I have ever went to someone who could consistently cut my hair the exact same way every time. It is crazy. There is always a crowd of guys waiting and many of them have been going here for years and years. My only gripe is their Saturday hours. Their posted hours are till 2 or 3, but they are rarely open past 12. I totally understand that when the traffic dies down, they close the shop. I would just recommend that they update the sign to reflect this.
