History

Established in 2002.

I began my career as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Kenton County, Kentucky. I worked to prosecute many serious felony crimes like murder, assault, robbery, and burglary.

During my time as a prosecutor, I learned how the police process crime scenes, conduct interviews, talk to witnesses, and write their reports. Also, I learned how the prosecution put together their cases, how they selected juries, and how they prioritized their cases. Finally, I learned where both the police and the prosecution make most of their mistakes.

After forming my criminal law practice in 2002, I now use my knowledge as a former prosecutor to your advantage when planning your defense.

My educational background is unique. I am both a lawyer and a scientist (I have a degree in physics and two graduate degrees in engineering). My formal training in both science and law gives me a distinct advantage in defending criminal and DUI cases in Ohio and Kentucky, and federal courts. That is, my knowledge of physics and engineering, combined with my skills as a criminal defense attorney, allows me to use the power of science to strengthen your defense. I can recognize and determine if the tests conducted in your case are scientifically valid or are lacking. I also know how to use science to your advantage by taking the offensive and putting the government on the defensive. The government often never tests collected evidence in criminal cases. I have access to some of the best forensic labs if evidence needs to be tested.
