The service was great. Friendly people. The food was okay. Not bad, not good. Not even close to the Japanese taste that we had our hearts set on. Kinda like McDonald’s and Miyami’s had a baby.

I want to say first and foremost I’m giving them three stars because our«server» was extremely nice and refilled my drink twice in the short time we were in. My wife and I stopped in at about 8pm to grab a bite since we were in the area and I had remembered hearing about a new hibachi place. It was empty in there. I believe there were a few people who had pickup orders, a single man, another married couple and us. We ordered a chicken bowl, steak bowl and an order of pot stickers with two sodas. The bill was $ 20 on the dot. So for that it was expected. The chicken bowl and steak bowl came out first. The bowls were a good size, but I immediately noticed canned carrots. I figured, whatever the price was right and it was a veggie, however they were way too sweet for hibachi. They were more like what you’d expect at a country style restaurant. The chicken had an ok flavor. The shrimp sauce/white sauce was excellent. The rice was a bit crunchy. My wife had the steak bowl and it was average as well. My shock came in the potstickers. I was prepared for a small serving since they only cost 1.25 but to my surprise it was two tiny potstickers. Most places would usually give a single one of those away with a meal so, I don’t know. I think switching to fresh carrots, zucchini and onions with the hibachi would make a world of difference to this meal. It would even make it worth paying an extra dollar or so. My real disappointment came from the beeps we heard as we were eating. Somehow I missed the fact while we were ordering there is a microwave right behind the register. It was used several times during our visit and to someone who was a chef for 12 years and never touched a micro, I was shocked. They should’ve at least tried to hide it in the back. I was unable to see what was being cooked in it but if I had to guess, maybe egg rolls? I can only hope that it was only used for personal items, but I don’t know. It should be in the back regardless. I want this place to be successful and I really felt bad leaving because if it continues they won’t be there long, no matter how nice they are. The food industry is ultra competitive in this area but could definitely use more hibachi options. I hope they get it headed in the right direction.

I stopped and got take out, it was very close to the time that they had opened for business and chose the shrimp and scallop dinner. Substituted yakisoba noodles for rice. The food was very tasty but the service was very slow. My lunch cost me over $ 17 with a drink. I figured for that price that at least I would get plenty of food but after eating my 3 jumbo shrimp and 2 large scallops that were cut in half I was still hungry ! Have not been back since.

We ordered the steak bowl and shrimp bowl a few weeks ago and was a little disappointed. The steak chunks were tough and the shrimp overcooked. The side of super sweet carrots could have been mistaken for sweet potatoes. The flavors and seasoning is a miss on both bowl dishes. The highlight was the side of egg roll and side of wings. The décor of the place lacks and might still have the décor of the previous BBQ joint that buses to be there. Our experience with the staff was a bit weird and rushed. Didn’t really feel a welcoming atmosphere especially when we told them it’s our first time there. The food is lacking for the price.

I would rather pay double for great food. Cheap and low quality ingredients doesn’t make a good restaurant. Everything about this place screams inexperience. Staff was a little shaky but nice. Sadly, I will be shocked if it survives it’s first year.

Clean, clean and clean. Extremely friendly. Pleasant service. Ordered a combination for dinner to go. Way to much food for one. There was plenty of food in the container for 2 people. Food was served fast and very tasty. No waiting. Several people were dining in. Had no problem parking, but not sure about the lunch and diner rush hour. It is in a convenient location and is a nice change to the fast food burger and chicken places popping up all over.

So my biggest disappointment was the price and portion size. The cost of a bowl was the price of a plate at most places. Also, I ordered potstickers and got two… Two tiny potstickers

Chopstix is a new Japanese fast food place in the old Wholly Smokin location. They offer a variety of hibachi style entrees in a casual environment. We’ve ordered a steak bowl and a chicken bowl which both came with fried rice and sweet carrots all for a very reasonable price(under 6 dollars per bowl). They offer larger, more expensive combination plates that looked good but we haven’t tried them yet. We will definitely be back to try their other menu items.
