This is University of Michigan-Flint’s student bookstore, aka the UM-Flint B &N, located in the University Pavilion in downtown Flint. As student bookstores go, it’s pretty well run and fairly well-organized. This student-run store is conveniently located to campus, near plenty of dining options both in and off campus, as well as residence housing, classrooms, administration offices, the recreation center, university library, parking, and more. The pavilion houses a typical food court area, plus there are numerous restaurants and bars across the street. As for parking, there is a flat lot across the street, an adjacent parking garage and ample spaces to park up and down Saginaw Street, as well as campus parking lots designated for students and staff only. Prices can be downright sky high for pretty much anything and everything, from textbooks to supplies, but who are we kidding? This is the campus/student bookstore, so it’s not like you’re going to a regular bookstore. Prices on everything are jacked because it’s a student bookstore and everyone knows that going in. The best bet is to pick up as many used textbooks as you can for your classes and just suck it up. Textbooks and assorted supplies, like notebooks, journals, blue book essays, etc cost almost as much as tuition. As for book buy-back rates? As with every other student bookstore out there, it sucks, but depending on who is working, you might be able to finagle a better deal than you would otherwise, but always be prepared to get something like $ 8-$ 12 back for a brand-new philosophy or history textbook that cost you $ 170 and was barely cracked open all semester. Sigh, it’s the nature of the beast.
