I went to elementary school at Doyle Ryder and was in their«gifted» program, whatever that means. There was an upstairs and downstairs, and the downstairs kids were really segregated from the upstairs kids. That part was messed up, but I heard in recent years the Magnet Program is no longer implemented — which is pretty controversial. I feel that all kids should have access to the accelerated learning I did. I remember the days of lock-ins, Read-a-thons, rollerskating, and popcorn. I also remember some great teachers. One thing that is still true is the fact that they have the best playground on this side of the planet. It is a smörgåsbord of castle-time fun. I went there with a group of friends recently to drink Bud at 3am and we went down slides and swung, then tried to get into the school but got kicked out by a rent-a-cop. I feel like I have to apologize for this but it’s funny, we had all been the good kids at Doyle Ryder back in the day!
