History

Established in 2008.

Flagstaff is a booming artsy town that didn’t have a yarn shop… so, I opened Purl in the Pines the Saturday before Thanksgiving in 2008. We didn’t have our fixtures yet, so the shop was stacked high with Home Depot moving boxes that cleverly displayed all of the fiber, books, notions and needles. The day we opened, local fiber fiends, who have been so deprived for so long, were lined up outside the door, awaiting our opening!

By January, Purl in the Pines looked like the shop I had envisioned… our fixtures were installed and the rest is history.

Meet the Business Owner

Michele R.

Business Owner

In October of 2002, my book group was traveling to Telluride for our annual retreat. Some of the members had offered to teach those of us who were brave enough, to knit! I was excited, but not too hopeful that I would catch on. I’ll never forget walking into my first yarn shop… I was overwhelmed by all of the colors and textures. I just couldn’t wait to get started. Knitting has been a passion (obsession) for me ever since. I never thought I would end up a LYS owner, but, here I am~ I love it.
