My girlfriend and I have never had a bad meal there. Honestly we used to go more frequent but do to our schedules don’t make it as much as we would like but the food and staff are phenomenonal. Tony the bartender is so welcoming and is more then willing to provide you with great service and good conversation if you feel like chatting. I have been going there for about 7 years and it’s always done right. Very cozy atmosphere.

Food is good and well presented. However, it’s overpriced for the small portions. Didn’t feel it was worth it. The critics that compare it to Manhattan dining are correct and if that’s what you like, go for it. There are plenty of other local options with the same quality along with their lacking quantity locally.

Hands down the best restaurant in the Hudson Valley. I have lived in the area for 20+ years and have eaten absolutely everywhere in the 845. IB is the best by far, not only for Italian food, but food in general. Very fairly priced for the truly fabulous food you receive. The staff goes above and beyond and know their stuff. Tony the bartender is fabulous and will keep you entertained while you wait for your table. They do not take reservations for small parties but it is worth the wait for sure. Many times we will leave our number with the host and grab a drink next door at one of the bars or wait at the bar(if it isn’t packed). We end up going here once every 2 weeks for our date night and the consistency is what is most impressive. Highly recommended!

Haven’t been here for several years due to personal reasons but was taken tonight for my birthday. OMG! The dinner was amazing. I had a simple dinner salad to start that was so fresh and delicious it could have been my meal. For my entrée I had their gnocchi with mushrooms, spinach and a truffle cream sauce. It was amazing. You could tell the gnocchi was fresh and homemade and it was so tender and soft. Desert was a Crème di caramelo. A salted caramel custard with whipped cream and toasted hazelnuts! This dinner was amazing! Can’t wait to go back. Plus our waitress Rachel was adorable! This is by far the best Italian in the Cold Spring, Beacon or Fishkill area!

One of my favorite restaurants in this area. We moved here from Westchester four years ago and haven’t looked back since. You can get NYC type food and atmosphere for half the price. We’ve been to their sister restaurant, Aroma Osteria in Wappingers as well. The décor and feel of the restaurants are perfect for date nights, special occasions or a fancier night out with friends. The food is to die for. Our favorites are the antipasto plate(the bread and thin breadsticks with fresh ricotta spread are amazing), and literally any entrée you can pick is delicious. If you love unique pasta this is a great place. Desserts are delicious too if you have any room left. The owners are always very gracious, service is excellent and I always feel like I get great value for our money when we leave. I tell my husband all the time, if you ever want to surprise me with a night out just take me to Il Barilotto or Aroma.

Went here during restaurant week with co-workers after work. Yes, the prix fixe menu was good, $ 29.95 for dinner, but we more interested in their regular menu. The appetizer special the waitress suggested was a cauliflower flan(mixed with Parmesan), topped with crispy prosciutto and arugula. OMG, we were blown away. The story was the owner just came back from Italy 3 weeks prior and had a similar dish and had asked his chef to make it. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED. The softness of the flan blended with the crispy, salty prosciutto and the added flavor of the arugula with the spicy hot pepper chili oil dressing heightened the whole experience. TOOBADTHAT I FORGOTTOTAKE A PICTURE… Well I guess I just have to go back then. Not your typical Italian restaurant. You won’t find calamari or mozzarella sticks here, expect fine dining. Reservations are for 5 or more, less than that first come first serve. You can wait at the bar and drink…

I ate here because Biercafe closed early but I still needed to eat. I didn’t want to have to select any fast food or chain restaurants. I am so happy that I did. I ordered an appetizer special that was roasted pork belly with creamy polenta, balsamic apple and arugula. Delicious. I also ordered a pear salad. But the salad was mysteriously missing the pears. I also had a glass of the house rosè. Food, wine, whipped ricotta served with the bread basket were all delicious. I would have given four stars but the server fell into the solo diner trap and never recovered. She was too busy with her larger parties and side work to ask me how my meal was going or refill my water glass. In fact the food runner was more attentive than my actual server.

Dinner for one on Friday early evening with only a call a few minutes earlier; the staff was very welcoming and I was seated without delay. The room is cozy and not too loud. My you g waitress was charming and helpful about the menu and I ordered one of the night’s special dishes, something I rarely do, a lamb shank with sliced parsnips and spinach over mashed potatoes. It was marvelous, perfectly prepared, and its flavors complemented one another. I thought it the perfect dinner for a rainy September. The meal was delivered without delay as was the check. The prices were very reasonable and the portion size was generous. This restaurant is really worth a detour and I recommend it. Thank you!

Been here once for dinner, and definitely will be back. Everything we had was delicious. The most memorable dish was an app special of squash blossoms. They were perfectly fried and crispy and filled with creamy fresh ricotta complimented with a savory tomato sauce. Yet it still fealt very light. Serving bread with homemade fresh ricotta instead of butter was a nice touch also.

Wow! The whipped ricotta served with the bread basket is worth the trip on its own! Everything we had was incredible. A great find in Fishkill!

Food is good, ambiance is attractive, Tony at the bar is a pleasure. That said, I barely eat here because the acoustics are horrible! Often can’t hear the server recite the specials, forget your dinner companion. If I want a quiet, intimate dining experience I won’t go here.

As I was in town for just one Friday night and looking for a relaxed dinner with three friends, I didn’t have high expectations for this place, especially when they had a table available right away without reservations at 8pm. We ordered a side of broccoli rabe to share and one pasta each. In my usual obnoxious fashion, I tasted just about everything and was generally impressed by the quantity of food with fresh(possibly homemade?) noodles. — Bread basket was on point, very moist and served warm with creamy, delicious fresh ricotta. This was a thoughtful upgrade from your everyday olive oil or butter and set our expectations higher than your average neighborhood Italian joint. — Cime de rape($ 9) small portion of sauteed broccoli rabe was cooked perfectly but a little small, probably best to share with two people. — Pappardelle al ragu d’antara($ 22) was the best dish at our table with a generous helping of duck ragu served over fresh pappardelle and herbs. Rosemary and basil were prominent flavors and I think this was topped with some ricotta as well to break things up with a little tang. — Spinach cavatelli(~$ 20) featured house-made spinach cavatelli(I’d describe this as something in between orecchiette and gnocchi) with green beans and roasted mushrooms in a mushroom & truffle cream sauce. I had hoped for a light vegetable dish but ended up with doughy pasta in a creamy, heavy sauce — not really what I was going for but it was pretty well executed if you like gnocchi. — Conchiglie al barilotto($ 17) simple tomato & basil pasta with shrimp, calamari, scallops. Seafood was of good quality and the dish is probably the best value on the menu. With two glasses of wine, one contorni side and four pastas, our bill came out to $ 130 before tip. The vibe was subdued when we first arrived however by 9:30 as we were leaving, the bar crowd was increasingly rowdy making it difficult to hear across the table. Certainly not the cheapest place in town but I would recommend it!

This is probably the best spot to eat in Fishkill. The service is fantastic and the food is to die for. Nice atmosphere, great décor. This will definitely be my go to spot in Fishkill from now on. Kudos to the chef and staff.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service. I’ve never been disappointed and love the variety on the menu and specials. Tony is an excellent bartender and makes the best cosmopolitan I’ve ever had. Scott is an amazing manager and is always friendly and accommodating. One of he best restaurants in the Hudson Valley.

EDIT: The general manager of Il Barilotto very kindly reached out to me to apologize and explain any confusion. The curtain is apparently very commonly used to keep the guests near the door cool during the summer and warm during the winter. This is something I was not familiar with. In addition, the porkchop did not taste bad. It was not what we were expecting but the Pork Milanese is a classical dish in Italian restaurants and was not what we were expecting. _______________________________________________ I feel so much passion about my dinner experience here that I made a Unilocal account just to review this place. When you first walk in, you walk straight into a large curtain. We pushed aside the curtain and looked around awkwardly for a while, wondering if they were closed, but eventually someone came from the back to seat us. The restaurant was far too dark, probably to partially mask the unappealing food, and they were blasting pop music — not exactly a romantic ambience. The bread was stale and tasteless, with a bland white sauce instead of creamy butter. The service was unattentive, and our waiter told us the food specials ten minutes after we were given the menu. The food came out fast, but it tasted terrible and was extremely overpriced. We ordered the salmon risotto and the rice was undercooked(still crunchy) and tasted too smokey and salty. How do you even make rice SMOKEY? And the small chunks of salmon were tasteless and still had the skin on it. So I had to use my knife and try to scrape the skin off the small chunks. No, just no. We also ordered the breaded porkchop. Meat lovers beware, there will be a huge mountain of arugula that you have to plow through to get to your pork chop. When the waitress sat it on the table, a small arugula avalanche slid off the pork chop. The porkchop itself tasted like some regular breaded chicken nuggets you can find in the frozen food aisle of your local supermarket, but about $ 23 more expensive. We left the restaurant with half of our plates filled because we could not stomach the food any further.

Fishkill officially has it’s flag ship restaurant in Il Barilotto Enoteca. Long have I searched for a good, quality«go to» restaurant in this area and now I have found it.(My normal place was Stephano’s but frankly after moving to Wappingers it’s not as convenient and I’ve always questioned the service there). Located right on Main Street it is easy to find, conveniently located and there is ample parking in the rear. The interior layout is welcoming and cozy. I went on Thursday night and the place was packed and bustling — I loved it. The menu immediately jumps out at you — so many items you want to order — and this is not your typical«red sauce» place. This is modern Italian American offering great creativity without deviating from the norm too much. I tried the Antipasto Della Casa($ 19) as an appetizer and it was great. The grilled vegetables were sublime. For my entrée I ordered the Mezze Maniche Al Ragu’ D’Agnello(Short sleeve rigatoni, slow cooked lamb ragu’, fresh mint, grana padano)($ 22.00) and it was amazing. I love lamb and I normally love a strong lamb flavor — but this one was mild but so rich and creamy that it was still amazing. My wife who normally will not eat lamb loved the dish. The portion size was good — not huge but enough to make me satisfied. I also sampled my wife’s Maialetto Alla Milanese(Pan fried bone in pork chops) and they were amazing. I cannot say enough how much I loved this place. I brought too very young children with me and they were very welcoming and the noise in the room drowned out any noise my kids were making.(Although my daughter commented that it was«too noisy» and there was a point where we had difficulty hearing the waitress). Prices are a bit high for the area but well worth it.
