Been to the Café Maya several times and I have never been disappointed!

Food was good. Music was loud. Friday night, 6:40,appetizer, 2 beers apiece, and dinner. Out in 45 min. Rushed. We felt so.

Very disappointed in this place. The service was really poor and music was to loud to even talk. From the very beginning it started bad. Our waiter wasn’t friendly and took along time to take out order. He messed up our food once it was place in our table and didn’t even bother asking us if we needed anything else. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and regret it since therre wasn’t a lot of shrimp. I asked for more and got charged another $ 10 We felt rush and disgusted. We also saw workers putting chips into basket with bare hands. I do not trust this place and definitely wouldn’t recommend it neither.

I’ve been coming here for years and as per usual the food was excellent! The mojitos were strong and refreshing, I went with two of my girlfriends and we each tried a different flavor mango, raspberry, and strawberry. Make sure to order the guacamole which is made to order at your table, I also really love the décor here and the service is always great.

Always a good experience here. Delicious food. Excellent service. Ample parking. Fun cocktails. Very fun and vibrant atmosphere. Beware tho, very loud in there. Mexico City Taco plate is fabulous. And so is the hibiscus sangria.

Misled by the restaurant. My father called a few days prior to our planned evening and made a reservation for 8. We have elderly folk with us for whom it’s hard to wait. When we arrived, they told us they don’t take reservations, and instead apologized and gave us a number! Others waiting also experienced the same thing. Pathetic.

I’m pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Patron Cosmo to drink. Perfect! The chicken flautas were tasty! Took a star away for the rice, it was a little dry.

My husband and I had fajitas here and we enjoyed them. The restaurant was very dimly lit, but proved to be a casual and friendly atmosphere. The place is small, so when it was busy, it was fairly loud and difficult to hear at times. I recommend it for a casual meal with friends. One of the better dining options we tried in the area.

Did not like this place. Beware! Cashier changed her tip after I wrote it down on the bill! She added $ 10 to her tip. Will never come here again!

I was pretty impressed with ambiance and food, this place was highly recommended by a coworker that goes there every weekend. My reasoning for 4-stars was because of the appetizer pico de gayo, I was wasn’t what we expected and was a little on the dry side. Other than than, the food was great.

I am so sorry. I went back to this place today. Can’t get the bad tastes out of my mouth. Got there early around 4:30 pm. Ordered two mojitoes for myself and my wife — undrinkable! Guacamole terrible and had had to remind waiter to bring chips. Service terrible then a shrimp dish, terrible. Don’t know what happened but I am never coming back. Sorry about my first report. Either I hit them on a good night first time and a bad one today but it was terrible.

The ambience is nice but this place does not live up to an authentic Mexican restaurant. They did not have flor de Jamaica(Hibiscus juice) and the horchata is made with syrup. The mango margarita left much to be desired(barely tasted like mango). The food was just OK, I’ve tasted better. The service was good except the waiter charged us for two guacamoles when we only ordered one, but he was apologetic. If you want delicious authentic Mexican food, go to Estrellita Poblana in the Bronx.

This review is for the Bar. Awesome Mexican spot. Authentic and delish. I love the food, the Margarita’s and the scene here. Lots of flat screens to watch the game. Interesting happy hour crowd. Awesome staff.Owners are friendly and make sure everything is running smooth.

I so miss not having real Mexican food in Canada that this place was a treat for me. I had the Carnitas en Salsa Verde. This was a large portion of wonderfully tender stewed pork in an excellent tangy sauce, accompanied by tortillas(alas, flour instead of corn), rice, black beans and pico de gallo along with a portion of guacamole. My margarita was generous and sufficiently potent as well. I’d give them five stars except that the service, while friendly, was very rushed. I was a solo traveler and I got the distinct impression they did not like a single occupying a table. Fun décor emphasized Mayan culture(as per their name). Rather noisy but not to the point of being obnoxious. Parking lot is not completely paved.

Five stars to my personal favorite restaurant in the area! All staff that I’ve ever encountered have been very personable and attentive to the needs of our table. Where my preferred meal is the Poc Chuc, anything else I’ve eaten has been on point. The Mariachi band(when available) is entertaining without being overbearing. I can’t stress enough how much I love this place and can’t wait to go back for more!

I’m going to break this up into two reviews, that of my own and that from the perspective of my vegetarian wife. As there’s only room for a single«stars» rating, mine will be the main one Café Mya is one of two Mexican spots locally that I thoroughly enjoy going to. It’s place that I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal at. The atmosphere is as «authentic» as you’ll find with the décor, primarily Hispanic wait staff, and a travelling mariachi band that serenades patrons(which is nice but can sometimes make the place white loud). My «go to» meal is usually the Fajitas Maya which has a combo of meats(shrimp, steak, etc) grilled to perfection and served in your typical piping hot plate. The steak is always spiced nice and is never tough to chew. This particular night I had Barbacoa tacos — marinated brisket with spices and red cabbage to top it off. They were quite good and I enjoyed my selection. For starters, you cant lose with guacamole. On this particular night we tried«Mexican Corn» — corn on the cob smothered in Mexican spices. Awesome. Now for my wife’s 1 star review/complaint. Mexican restaurants are typically safe havens for vegetarians. Café Maya is as well to a certain degree but fails to deliver a «good» meal. Their options are limited and they don’t offer much customization for their burritos or enchiladas. She was advised that the sauce in the burrito was a tomato based sauce and could not be changed for anything else, and that her enchiladas could not have beans, rice or any veggies added — therefore she was essentially eating a tortilla filled with cheese and topped with more cheese… With a side of rice and beans that she ended up incorporating into her food on her own. She was so upset that she actually wanted to speak to the owner to give him/her suggestions on how to improve Veggie options… Now I’m not saying we won’t be making a return trip(I absolutely love the place) but it may be a tough sell to a wife who loves Mexican food, but doesn’t have any love for this place…

Stopped in to grab lunch, this place was buzzing with other patrons. I was sat down very quickly my drinks were taken and chips were brought to the table. The chips and salsa were fresh and so much flavor I loved it. I ordered the Taco sampler by recommendation of the waiter, brought 3 puff tacos 1 beef, 1 chicken, 1 guacamole, side of veggie rice and retried black beans. Literally took me longer to type this out than it did for my food to arrive it was almost instant. At first this was off putting as it makes me weary the food is pre made just sitting there, but it was hot and very fresh. I was very satisfied with the food, prices for lunch menu ranged from $ 12-$ 8, after tips and 1 beverage I paid with tip $ 15 can’t beat that try it out.

I thought this pace was phenomenal. You won’t find a pretty upscale Mexican restaurant, but this place is some of the best value Mexican food I’ve had in the northeast. Prices are very reasonable, you can definitely feed yourself for $ 8 – 13, which is great. Portions are well sized, enough to fill you up but not too much where you’re wasting food on your plate. I had the chimichangas. They come in a pair, so it’s not a giant deep fried chipotle burrito like I’m used to. I thought it tasted great and was not oily. I’d definitely suggest trying them out.
