This place is aight. They don’t have enough deep fried options, so if that’s what you like, not the place to be. Just like any Japanese restaurant, the workers don’t know English, but it’s okay no hate. Also the chopsticks are full of splinters, and don’t be fooled by their sauce containers. Despite all the negatives, the food itself tastes pretty good and you can take a lot of the free candy without them noticing. Don’t think I will return.

Sauce bottles don’t match the sauce. Workers English is not the best. Clean restaurant however, lots of low quality food and service.

My friend and I were craving sushi one night so we decided to search Unilocal for a decent Sushi place close to where we were at that time. Sapporo popped up with great reviews and stars so we chose to go there. First, let me say that I am surprised with the 4.5 stars on Unilocal after –actually even during– my experience despite all of the appraisals on Unilocal.Maybe it was an odd day and time for the restaurant when we arrived, who knows, but I just didn’t see the great buzz that everyone else is seeing. Looking at the menu alone, prices are definitely higher than other sushi places I’ve dined in. What doesn’t help is that the portions were also small(or it seemed like it to me). They do give you a complementary miso soup, a small salad, and two other tiny dishes while you wait for your orders. We didn’t order much because after seeing what the other tables next to ours ordered, I just could not justify the price with the portion and looks(yes I might be judging a book by its cover) of the dishes. We ended up ordering a Tempura Udon and a Dynamite Roll because 1. Unilocalers have talked about them 2. I can compare it to other Tempura Udon and Dynamite Roll that I’ve had multiple times from various other restaurants 3. our go-to dishes if we can’t decide. The Dynamite Roll was unique in terms of how it was plated –check photo. But that was about it. Portion was small, I can’t quite tell if the prawns, fish, and vegetables were fresh or not, the tempura on top of the rolls were overwhelming, and the rice did not have that chewiness texture I was looking for. Too critical? Maybe. But if I put into consideration that Sapporo is probably the only sushi restaurant available in the area, I suppose it will do. I don’t think it is fair for me to compare it to other sushi restaurants that are hours away. Tempura Udon. It was good. Not much to say about it besides that. This would be customer preference because I like mine a bit more on the heavily seasoned side of the spectrum. The noodles were so-and-so and again hard to tell if they were fresh or not. The tofu in it, my friend only took a bite. However, the service was fast, staff were nice and friendly, and the restaurant space is cozy. The«special menu of the day» that they have on the back board seemed interesting and maybe I’ll give those a try next time.

A bit disappointing; I expected more based on all the rave reviews. Pretty small place, though I got a seat pretty quickly despite it being a crowded Friday evening. I ordered Salmon sashimi, and two rolls(spicy tuna and one with mandarin oranges and orange sauce — can’t recall the name). Presentation was quite nice, and the mandarin rolls were good, but the other two were not. The salmon had a strong fishy taste, and I’m not sure the spicy tuna rolls even had any tuna in them(seriously), but they weren’t good either way. I’m no sushi snob, but I’ve had enough to know when it’s right. I was also a little put off by the way they handled being busy. When I ordered, they told me it would be 20 minutes based on my order(it actually took almost 30). However, it wasn’t a «just so you know» comment, it was more«would you mind changing your order.» I then heard them give the table next to me the same line, only for him the time was now 45 minutes. Prices were fine, and I’ll probably give it another try if I’m up the Seattle way again, especially given all the good reviews, but so far I’m not impressed.

We are looking forward to going back to this place. While shopping in Fife about 45 miles from home we found this sushi restaurant on Unilocal. The staff was very friendly and prompt. The sushi and teriyaki were wonderful and the rolls that we saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. The prices were also very reasonable. We look forward to our next trip ti Fife, WA.

The food and presentation was amazing. The service not so good. I spilled some miso soup and the waitress threw me some napkins and told me to clean it up. Well, we still got good food and they weren’t tipped so I’m pretty content.

Best POKE outside of Hawaii! This place is a real hole in the wall, even for Fife. It is always super busy so getting a table is tough, but they do a great job with takeout. I’ve been a dozen times and everything I’ve ordered has been great, especially considering the location and price.

Suprise to me this place was really good! Minus one star for imitation crab — yuck! The bento box excellent, nigiri and rolls without imitation carb were great! I would come back!

This is my favorite sushi restaurant. Anywhere. Ever. They’ve got your chopsticks there if you want to store them there, but best of all, they make the freshest, most delectable, most beautiful sashimi platters! I’m all about sashimi, and this stuff is amazing. Any time I have to go to or from Seattle, I plan a stop here. They’re closed on Sundays, so I try never to pass by on a Sunday. :-) Last time I was there, the owner was chatting with regular customers. It was so warm and awesome. And did I mention the fresh fish, so tasty, so awesome?

This is one of my favorite sushi place ever! Everything is so fresh! Price is reasonable, I always get the bento boxes(lunch and dinner) you get to choose two things out of the menu for the bento boxes and it comes with soup, rice, salad, cucumber mix, and I believe some kind of calamari they made themselves. Lunch for the bento box is $ 8.99 and dinner is $ 12.99 which isn’t bad at all for all that food! The service is amazing as well! Defiantly if your down here give this place a try!

OMG!!! Best sushi we’ve ever had! I know many would say so what another good sushi place but this place has so much to offer. Environment: casual. Very typical sushi restaurant. Wished their sushi bar was a little bigger. We sat in a booth. Food: the food was soooo good! The presentation of their product was an art. I’ve never seen such great creations. The portion size is perfect. We were presented with miso soup and salad before our rolls came in. If you don’t want sushi they also have other things on the menu you can order. For example, teriyaki. Pricing: same as all other sushi places.

Best BBQ eel, I have ever tasted, the combination of fresh and quality of knife skills is incredible. The added bonus is the staff knows their stuff and even offers other creations

For a sushi place down south, this place is a total win. The portions are decent and the quality of the fish is pretty good. I always go for the bento boxes because you get to sample their goods. The beef and chicken teriyaki are delicious. My daughter loved the squid. It’s prepared to perfection and it’s not chewy at all. I personally love the chirashi. They have a version of it that has tuna and hot sauce if you like it spicy. Most of the orders come with miso soup and marinated veggies. You won’t leave this place disappointed. Even the tuna rolls are pretty good. Price wise, bento will set you back $ 8.95 during lunch. For dinner, it is about $ 12.95.

This is a wonderful little sushi gem in Fife. I normally get their bento box deal because it’s such a good deal. You get to pick two things and it’s only like $ 12 – 13(I forget exact price). I usually get teriyaki and sushi or sashimi. Their rolls are also really good. Their sushi in general is very fresh which you wouldn’t expect in Fife.

Finding good food«on the road» is always tricky and for that, I am grateful for Unilocal and fellow Unilocalers who take the time to write reviews. With few exceptions(which I can generally note from the quality of the reviews), we all like tasty, affordable food in adequate quantities served by attentive wait staff. That is exactly what I found at Sapporo. At 6:00 on a Friday night, all tables were full and there was continual rotation during our meal. My husband and I each ordered the dinner bento box which came with soup, salad, rice, and choice of two meats for $ 12.50. I had teriyaki salmon and short ribs and could not eat it all. Husband had 4 pieces nigiri and a California roll — also very good.(Not a guess, I always sample my companions’ meals!) Owners also work as sushi chef and wait staff along with others. This restaurant has strip mall convenience located close to I-5 with casual atmosphere and simple décor. I would definitely stop here again.

I love Sapporo. My coworkers and I go here for lunch often during the work week. They have some of the best sushi I’ve had in the Tacoma area. Its always fresh and exactly what one would want, so satisfying. Their bento boxes are great. I usually get the calamari katsu and sashimi or California roll. Their California rolls are seriously the best. If you are HUNGRY get a bento box for like $ 9 and a sushi roll(the dynamite is a safe delicious bet). It comes out to about $ 20 but its so good. The staff here is great. If you go during lunch time be sure to go when its not the peak lunch hour(12−1pm). You will definitely have to wait to get a table since its a small space. Sapporo, you should expand your space since you’re so popular!!! Its tempting to bring a large group here(e.g. birthday lunch/dinner), but its really a place where you go with 1 – 3 people.

Can I just say I love this place!!! And I love sushi!!! I am a picky sushi person so when I like a place you have to trust me that it’s good :) This place is a small hole in the wall but the food is amazing. The service is good, everyone is always so friendly! I have tried almost every item on their menu so I can’t pick one but I love their tempura rolls. Everything tastes fresh and so delicious! Great place if you ever have the desire for sushi :)
