I started seeing Dr. Spurlock when I decided it was time to move on from the clinic I had gone to for 6 years. I was able to stay with my therapist, but I couldn’t see my doctor. Searching for a Psychiatrist is grueling. Many don’t take any insurance at all or aren’t accepting new patients. Dr. Spurlock’s approach is unlike any other I have experienced in the 7 years I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. She spends a great deal of time with me and cares how I’m actually doing. Most doctors in the past only gave me 15 minutes. I don’t fault them… it’s a flaw in the system. She gives me relevant feedback about how I can modify my behavior and she even sometimes recommends vitamins… like vitamin B and D instead of just adding or increasing a medication. She also teaches me how the brain works, and I have learned how my medications work in my brain. She treats me like a have a brain instead of mindlessly giving me meds. Most importantly, she acknowledges that I have a voice in my treatment. She doesn’t get mad if I disagree with her or have my own opinion. She is a good and caring doctor. Whether she is for you is really up to you to decide:-)
