History

Established in 2009.

The Satellite Centers is developing a network of comfortable, connected, professional workspace and office space for rent in community commercial districts — for everyone from telecommuters to solopreneurs to consultants, therapists, salespeople, and startups.

Satellite Centers offer a mix of private offices, workstations, meeting and touchdown space, virtual office plans, mail services, print/​scan/​copy facilities and videoconferencing — available 24⁄7 to members and during the working day for non-​members. Each Satellite Center includes high-​speed broadband Internet, ergonomic seating, community events, VoiP phone plans, virtual office plans, computer and admin support, and free coffee.

Logan B.

Manager

Logan’s experience has been in the world of academia: running youth programs, running the admissions department at a private distance learning college, working with people coming from disparate backgrounds, and generally helping people navigate systems. He loves getting to meet the huge cross section of people at the Satellite Center in Felton and Santa Cruz County. Logan is a great writer, and is absolutely focused on the clarity of words and the way ideas can become concrete, organized and repeatable through good writing. What did we do without him?

What a fantastic work space and so many options from wide open café like space, to a work cubicle to an office. Great amenities: kitchen, bathroom, copy machine, but best of all: Ken who runs the place. He’s a genuinely caring guy and focused onyour happiness. Rare and wonderful. I wish these were in every city in the US. I hope they are a raging success.

I have taken advantage of Satellite Telework Centers for team meeting and just to have a quiet place to work. The staff is extremely helpful and the internet is fast and always on!
Conveniently located next to great restaraunts in sceninc downtown Felton.
A great alternative for those looking for a good enviroment to get work done!

I love the concept of the the Satellite Telework Centers. Fabulous idea.
Overall, it was a good experience. Very convenient location. (Right across the street from New Leaf. Yay!!) I arrived at 8:40am and the doors were still locked and signs said closed. (Hours posted as opening at 8:30am). But, someone came and opened the doors within a few minutes of me standing at the front door jiggling the handle. I was greeted by very friendly staff. I received a tour of the building and a brief rundown of the pricing per space options. I chose to sit in the café space (the talking one), which is a very big room. There were a few drawbacks: 1) The business next door has a patio and people were very chatty and loud. I could clearly hear them and I found this disruptive. 2) Internet was spotty. Don’t get me wrong, the internet speed was great, but I kept getting kicked off and would frequently need to re-​connect. 3) Hours if you are a non-​member are 8:30am to 5:00pm. They are not flexible (eg can’t stay later than 5:00pm if a non-​member). Otherwise, I found everyone, staff and fellow teleworkers, very friendly and approachable and overall found the Telework Center to be a practical space to work.

I used to go to local coffee shops to do what I need to do but it was so uncomfortable at some point that I started looking into Telework spaces. One of my close friends mentioned this place and after interviewing another facility, I chose this one. I have had a membership here for since February 2011 and love being here for a number of reasons.
1. It gives me a chance to get out of my house where I am easily distracted by domestic things that come up.
2. It has everything I need to work efficiently — fast internet connection, large multi-​function printer, clean kitchen & restroom facilities, and the place is totally green and sustainably designed.
It is quiet and I have brought some of my own photographic art to hang on my surrounding walls so I feel more at home. I love this place and hope I never have to leave, of course until I die that is.

I work remotely 250+ days per year. My gauge for return on investment of any workspace is the quality and amount of work I complete. On Friday March 30, 2012 I spent 4 hours at the Felton location of Satellite Telework Center and I was impressed by the ROI. All points covered from balanced space, current technology platforms and in particular their exceptional customer service/​support. I highly recommend and I will return.

The Satellite has a wide range of options — all I need is a table in the café space, but they offer spacious cubicles and private offices as well. The staff are extremely friendly and supportive and strive to make the cowork centers an integrated part of the community they belong in.
24⁄7 access, free coffee, and friendly faces make this a no-​brainer vs. working from home.

I use Satellite for numerous reasons. One being the atmosphere… motivating for a «work from home» career. Sometimes you lose your motivation being at home where the dishes, laundry, and hundreds of other chores await you. But at Satellite you are surrounded by others who are motivated and doing there best at what they do — truly motivating to get in gear and have a good day! A second reason, they have a great café service. Hot coffee with Organic ½ & ½ is always waiting for me when I arrive — this is a great feature I would recommend adding to your list of services. And lastly, they have great services… everything you would need to get your work done. High speed internet, a full service printing area/​fax, and conference rooms for getting everyone together in your company. It’s a great spot to work without going far from home, and a great place to feel like you are in a working atmosphere which can serve as a great drive to get your self in gear for a productive day. Highly recommended!!!

This place is great if you are looking for a relaxing spot to get some work done without actually hauling yourself over the hill and into the office. Or if you just need to get stuff done away from screaming kids. I should note that I neither have screaming children, nor do I actually live in Felton, but this is such a cool place that I had to review. And yes, I’m in some of their marketing pictures but they’re not paying me to say any of this. They are really involved in the Felton community and truly want this place to be a working oasis. There are cubes and offices and some conference rooms and a bigger open area that you can hang out in with your laptop and surf the web. Oh… or um… get some work done. There are two always clean bathrooms (it’s important people) and a color copier/​faxer/​scanner. They also have a cute office-​y kitchen area and some vending machines with snacks and sodas. I believe if you have a membership you can come and go as you please — no open or closed times. You could head down at two in the morning if you felt like it. They also have a big open room in the back that I think you can rent out and I’m pretty sure they host different club meetings back there. They are also super green and most of the improvements were I think done with recycled materials. Very cool!
