Performance Preparation

Went there with my husband about a year ago to repair a small crack in the frame near the gear box. I had been there once before. While my husband was dropping off his car, the owner told him that he thought I was «a spoiled brat» because my car was paid for in full. (Mind you, I paid for my car in full. Both of my cars, actually. Me. I paid for them. Not sure how that makes me spoiled or why he thought he could have an opinion like that.)
Within two days after taking it there, our steering fluid began leaking everywhere. Feeling suspicious, we called another state certified mechanic who told us that this sort of leak is common when the gear box is not removed during welding near the site. We took it back up to Performance Prep and asked them to assess it because we believed there was an accident during our first repair. We were very kind and cordial– not accusatory at all. We really did believe there had just been an accident. They argued with us incessantly about the damage for a few days via phone. The man who did the repairs at one point apologetically said «Oh gosh, I’m sorry, I don’t know how we managed to do that.»
When we took it up to get the leak fixed, the owner told me that they were not taking responsibility for the damage and that our vehicle was «very old» and that the damage could’ve been caused by an accident. (Vehicle is 2004 and was in one accident in 2005– has driven over 100,000 miles since then with no problems.)
We finally agreed to just pay for it, since we needed our vehicle by the following day. They told me it was very simple to repair the leak and would only take a few minutes. When I asked if I could watch the repair be completed, the OWNER of this place stood up, aggressively walked to me, and yelled in my face «HONEY, IF HE WANTED AN AUDIENCE, HE WOULD’VE BECOME A ROCKSTAR. SIT YOUR ASS DOWN.»
As a five-​foot-​nothing woman, I was extremely shocked that a grown man would talk to me that way, especially in a place of business and especially in front of my husband. It was a terrifying experience. After a few, very loud choice words (my father was a Marine Corps. Drill Instructor, so I don’t take it too kindly when stupid people try to intimidate me), we walked out and never looked back.

What a joke. These guys aren’t mechanics, they are con artists. They have no idea what they are doing. To make it simple, they told my friend his heating pipe was corroded due to putting in the wrong coolant. Seriously, what a bunch of idiots. They stall, they lie, they make excuses as to what is wrong with the car or why it is taking so long. Complete rip off 100%. Stay away. The brothers are bad business men.
UPDATE: New mechanic European Motors, advised that J&M didn’t put the car back together property, hence all the steam, etc. How can a mechanic let someone leave with a car not assembled properly. They really don’t know what they are doing. SO my friend has to pay double for the same job. Hello BBB — hello Credit Card Company — …

Called performance prep told them my problems with my vehicle. Drove there, took them exactly an hour to find & fix the problems. Very kind, honest mechanics. Free wifi here, waiting area, & restrooms.

5 star service & you can count on your vehicle to be fixed right and for a fair price. Have had two different cars in for service over the last 3 years and they have always been the best.
Can only go 4 stars because of the hours. Wish they were open until 6 and the entrance is a bit difficult because of the busy frontage.
