Life Care Center of Federal Way

I endured this place just shy of a year (2014). Not «as advertised» in their brochure. Beautiful remodel upstairs, deplorable food and beverages, routinely understaffed and they know how to hide it, inadequate training for CNAs, new English-​speakers sans comprehension, nurses are drug dispensers first and foremost, no time to nurse, very little to no outdoor access, patient smoking privelege a high priority (will allow you smoke even on oxygen (removing it first), 1 – 2 hr. Wait on call button at night (hope you’re not dying), patient across the hall sold meth, nightly screaming allowed if you’re paying full price, God help you if you’re squished into the MedicAid wing!

I’m not really sure what to write… I was only here a couple of days to visit my dad. My not a huge fan of these types of places for good reason but overall, the staff here was very nice and pleasant. The inside and outside were very well maintained.
That being said, I’m going to give a 4 star rating. Not being a fan of retirement homes or places people are put in till they pass away I would normally never rate at all but because the nurses were so nice and accomodating, I thought I’d give it a try.
I think retirement homes and other similar places should take more care of their patients, especially when there isn’t a lot of people visiting these people. Care as in, spending an hour or more with each patient or better yet, assigning someone to a patient to visit with them a couple hours each day rather than the nurses just coming in to check vitals and give pills. These people need hope!
