Dr. Thelen was born and raised in Tacoma, Wa. He attended Bellarmine Prep and graduated from Clover Park High School in Lakewood, Wa. Dr. Thelen attended Western Washington University and the University of Washington where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1982. Dr. Thelen graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1986 and has been practicing in Federal way for over 28 years. Dr. Thelen is a member of the Seattle-​King County Dental Society, the Washington State Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the American academy of Facial Esthetics.

When I had a tooth emergency (cracked molar), I did a search for dentists near me that accepted my insurance that could fit me in that day. Dr Thelen’s office fit the bill, and when I got there, all of people there were completely charming. I ended up needing a root canal on the tooth and then a crown on top of that. They helped me immediately understand how much of that would be my obligation (ie not covered by insurance) and presented me with financing options for which I could apply. Since I’ve had my permanent crown put on, I’ve been back for a cleaning/​check-​up. They remember me perfectly 6 months later and ask me about the things that I had going on. Seriously funny/​fun people, too! I will not fear going to THiS dentist ever!
