Building Memories Early Learning Center

To summarize this daycare, our stay was not long.
Their positive points are: affordable tuition, offers drop ins, willing to accommodate an inconsistent schedule, provides lunch and snack. For a 6 year old, this place was ideal — plenty of play time.
Customer Service: The reason we decided to withdraw our child from Building Memories Early Learning Center is primarily because of the customer service. I am a mother who has experienced a few daycares — one bad one, one very good one and a private preschool/​daycare. My personal rating for this daycare is not terrible, but not great. I prefer daycare centers that are warm and welcoming with a staff that makes the effort to build a positive relationship with their parents. My husband and I did not feel welcomed at all. My son had even voiced his opinion one day by saying, «They aren’t very loving people.» This is just a convenient place to drop off and pick up. Not personable towards us. Extremely cut and dry. The good daycare centers I have enrolled my children in are very nurturing and loving adults. We did not feel this with Building Memories. I rarely spoke to anyone when I would arrive in the afternoon. They would have my child wait by the door around expected pick up time with. No daily report cards or follow up with what my child did or ate for the day.
Professionalism: I am a firm believer in presenting yourself in a professional manner through your words, actions, and dress. The director was always in yoga pants (sometimes with holes in them) and tank tops exposing her tattoos (summer season). While this may not matter to some customers, from a business standpoint, this is not an appropriate representation of a company.
Safety: The daycare has a keypad, like most well established daycares, but do not utilize it. The front door is unlocked during all operating hours. The toddlers are located in the front of the daycare. Although the doors beep when opened, and they say someone is always present near the door, this is still frightening to me that anyone can enter the premises (the deciding factor to opt out from transferring our 15 month old to Building Memories). They say that they ID all unfamiliar parties that are there to pick up.
Environment: If you are sensitive to smell, this daycare does not smell good. They use very potent smelling cleaning products. While this shows they use cleaning products, their choices of cleaning products may leave your children smelling funny. It’s so strong that even the paperwork smells like the daycare. This is not a classroom setting learning center. It is one big room, separated into sections by bookshelves. Toys are always put away neatly. There is a yard with plastic big toys and running area.
In the long run, you get what you pay for. We definitely learned our lesson that a good daycare is not worth the sacrifice just to save money. I would not recommend this place to my friends with children.
