Valley Of Fear & The Original Haunted Hayride

We went and got the VIP passes, which are truly recommended with how long the lines were. It was fun with the paintballs but nothing really scared me here. It’s so-​so but it also takes a lot to scare me.
It’s not bad and they put a lot into it.

Dont pay employees on time or enough needs too be organized more and pay employees a convenient price and better actors

It was fun, but some parts werent as scary as others. I believe that if they changed it up a little bit, it could be great. However, towards the end of the walk through the woods there is one girl that yells so loud that it rings your ears. She has worked there both this year and last year and gets so close to you to scream in your ear. She is my only bad complaint about it.

I am a big fan of these haunted hayrides and haunted attractions. I understand some are pretty scary, and others somewhat corny, but I love the atmosphere of all of them. I have done a lot of them within the immediate area, trying to go to a different one each year. I do have to say that I was extremely disappointed in this one. I understand these are popular events, with long lines, but no other place compared to valley of fear with lines and execution of the events. It was downright awful here. I’ve been to the Penitentiary and Bates many times, extremely popular and packed, and never waited as long as I did for Valley of Fear’s paintball event. I bought tickets in advance, for a specific time. I was anticipating a wait, and even the tickets said arrive 20 minutes earlier than the ticket states. Ok, so we arrived at 9pm for a 9:30 ticket spot. We didn’t begin this paintball event until 11:45. The paintball was the first thing we did, so by the time we got to the hayride and mazes, half the staff was gone, and it was just going through the motions because we had already paid. Everything after the paintball was extremely rushed because they were trying to get people out at a reasonable time. You would think that a place that has been around for awhile would understand how to handle these crowds. They do not. When all said and done, all concessions were closed, and no extra activities like all the rest. Believe me, save your time and money, and visit another haunted attraction. There are so many around that I would suggest any but here. I would not suggest this one to anyone I know. I have no problem spending money for these events, but the money spent last night was a waste, and I, and anyone I know, will not be going to Valley of Fear. The scariest thing about this place was the way the crowds were handled. Absolutely terrifying.

All attractions are extremely corny and the ONLY fear i experienced was what disease i contracted from the actors spit all over me. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Did i mention the excessive waits because of the BS VIP pass. Oh, and lets not forget they squeeze an extra $ 5 out of you for parking.

Ehhh… honestly it was a little boring. Zombie paintball wasn’t worth it. You get 10 to 15 shots at a mounted gun at maybe 3 or 4 outposts. The maze was so-​so. The hayride was cheesy.

The $ 5 parking fee is a little disappointing and you feel like you are being suckered. Perhaps they should incorporate that into the cost of admission and at $ 35 it should be. If going with a lot of people, pack them into fewer cars. The price of admission a little high; however, this place has improved from last year. The hayride is pretty good but nothing too different from other halloween haunted hayrides. The woods walk is very good. The actors do their best to scare you and put on a good performance. The alice in wonderland part of the walk is the most original (I think) and the freaky characters perform well. If I were only to do one of the three the woods walk would be the one. The zombie maze is also original and the actors and lighting effects are put to good use. I would return next year, most likely, but will be sure to pack in people into fewer cars to lessen the cost of parking.

Although it only gets three stars from me, I would never miss the Valley of Fear on Halloween. I understand that Halloween events are supposed to be «Scary,» but honestly, if it’s too frightening I really don’t enjoy myself. This event is just scary enough that it doesn’t ruin the fun for those who don’t like to be SUPER scared.
We typically go with the Hayride (which does use real hay, for those with allergies to note).
If you go on the hayride, there are a few things to keep in mind. If you sit near the driver, it will be a bit harder to hear things because of the sound of the motor, but you won’t be as targeted by the characters. If you want to be able to hear everything, or you’re looking for more attention from the characters, you’re better off sitting towards the back of the wagon, where the characters aim to scare!
I don’t want to spoil anything, but there is a portion of the hayride with a carnival focus-​this tip is just out there for those who CANNOT do clowns. If you’re only mildly scared, don’t worry, it’s not THAT bad.
We’ve also done a couple of the walk-through’s, which I thought were really excellent– there was a pirate themed walk through one year which was really beautifully done, and the characters did an AWESOME JOB. That one wasn’t as scary as it was fun. The one that was really scary was the house walk through, because there are a lot of narrow hallways– lots of fun for the claustrophobic.
Minus 2 stars due to price. Haunted events are expensive, but the pricing for this one always seems so high when you consider the length of each show (ex. Hayride is about 15 minutes long).

I loved it! Before I was even in the zombie escape, I was chased! I had it coming for me though. I had such a WONDERFUL time. The staff also seems to be very good with kids. Coming here is definitely worth the money and the scenery is beautiful. I wish I could have taken more pictures. I’m a little b*tch when it comes to getting scared, but this scared me just enough to have plenty of fun (: I do recommend this haunted house.

Horrible hayride!!! But the 2 other attractions were amazing! :) cheaper just to get all attractions I hope they fix the hayride!

It’s a better deal if you get all 3 events with a coupon. Bring your friends cause it’s one of those things more fun in a group. The Zombie Safari was just ok, the Haunted Forest and Maze were more fun. None of it was really scary. Good for kids.

We came with a group on a Thursday, paying just $ 29 for 3 attractions. Barely any lines (benefit of a Thursday I guess) We went right onto the hayride. Sitting facing the action was pretty interesting as many others, you face inward. Very awesome props while approaching the wagon trail! The buildings were great– however the acting from actual people was pretty uneventful. It was rainy earlier that day so I can understand why they may have been slow moving, but I didn’t even get a shock scare. There was one part of the wagon ride that I really didn’t quite understand why they were doing what they were doing (trying not to give away anything)
Next was the Zombie trail. The beginning of it was great! I was super excited to see what was to come. Walking through, the fog got thicker and thicker and you couldn’t see a thing. Why spend money on makeup and scenes if you can’t even see it? The theme got old after a while with people just running around you and grunting. This attraction had the best energy amongst actors out of the three.
Last was the ScaryTales. Great concept. Most Tales were easy to pinpoint and the scenes (what you could of them) were done well. At one point an actor comes charging toward you and slides on the ground, another on all fours scurries across the ground. Great shock value.
The MadHatter was one of my favorite characters– until he made a weight comment about someone in our group. Something along the lines of «We like them big, more to eat» or something like that. Got right in his face and it was overly offensive and rude. It’s a shame such a great character was ruined by one comment.
Overall, it was an entertaining experience but not at all scary. Great scenery and makeup (from what you could see through the overpowering fog). However, I don’t see myself returning another season.

The hayride is fun and pretty scary. The people working the entrance to the haunted house are very rude! THey wanted to split me and my boyfriend up going in and told us that he couldnt «hold me» when we walked through. There was no way I was going through the house without him with me. After fighting with them to let us go together they gave in. When you are paying premium dollar for these attractions no one should be rude or telling you that you can’t go through as a couple.. Lighten up people and stop being so rude to your PAYING customers.

I appreciate that there’s a haunted attraction in my current hometown, but I’m a bit disappointed in it. The hayride usually has a huge line (last year we waited well over an hour), and the hayride itself is quite lackluster. While it is unique in that your legs dangle off the sides of the truck bed, the ride itself isn’t scary, and isn’t unique in its shows. (The clown one, for instance, was interesting but could have been a lot better, and a lot scarier!)
In my opinion, not worth the money. If you’re in the area maybe check it out, but don’t expect to be blown away.

For all three attractions it cost $ 35 and then another $ 5 for parking. They did have one extremely rude parking attendant, but that’s another story for another time. I didn’t let that get in the way of my night.
First was the hayride. It did go pretty deep into the woods which I loved and it lasted a lot longer than other hayrides I remember going on in the past. I liked this because usually on a hayride you will just randomly wander in the dark and people will jump on the wagon, but this one stopped and had animated figures speak to you, had a fire breather show along the way, the whole nine yards. They even had a guy jump out of a tree above us at one point which I thought was the coolest thing ever, haha.
Tip: If you don’t want any of the monsters coming in your face, sit in the middle. They only target those who are sitting on the edge of the wagon.
The haunted house (or maze as they called it) was decent. Just your regular characters jumping out of the walls and whatnot. Another tip: they will split your group up in this. How it works is, there are two sides and they send the girls going in on one side and the guys on the other. I’m sure the actors are going to try to scare the girls more than the boys. Halfway into the «maze» the two sides meet up, but just be warned.
The walk in the woods was just that… walk in the woods and people pop out at you. They come in your face and 99% of them say «you will look great in my human soup… can’t wait to have you for dinner.» I think the actors do need to have a wider variety of their lines because that did kind of get old. There is also a haunted Hansel & Gretel that come out with wooden spoons ready to eat you.
All in all it was a good time. Nothing to give you nightmares but still a lot of fun.

Fun hayride, woods walk and zombie maze… definitely more fun than scary or creepy. Seems great for kids or those who scare easily. Then again, I’ve never met a haunted house or hayride that actually scares me. I thought the hayride was a little short and lacking overall, but the zombie maze and Scary Tales walk were worth it. They had some cool characters and costumes, and it’s fun interacting with the people who come out at you. (I couldn’t stop laughing after I accidentally chest bumped Hansel and complimented his lederhosen by saying «nice pants’».)
Saturday night the lines were fairly long — I’d suggest getting there early and doing the hayride first since it has the longest wait. And paying with credit card will save you a few minutes in the ticket line. We did the hayride first a little after 8pm and had to wait about 30 – 40 min, then waited ~20 min for zombie maze, then no wait for Scary Tales. Not too bad.
Definitely recommended for families or scaredy-​cats!

Me and my bf went here last weekend and we thought overall, it was a good time. The tickets cost as much as any other haunted attraction. First was the hayride, it started off with a talking skull, so i didnt think it would be that scary but it was actually pretty good. It had plent of actors, such as jason, leatherface, freddy, and tons of other actors dressed in various coustumes. They all jumped out and put on a pretty good show. Most of the actors got pretty close to me and tryed to scare me. They did an reanactment of a scene from Friday the thirteenth, it was good. Killer clown actors bashed their heads to heavymetal music, and jumped on the hayride to scare people. At the end of the hayride is a giant sign that leatherface jumped out of, it scared me. Next was the zombie maze that had tons of actors dressed like zombies. This was ok but the hayrides better. Next was the walk through the woods where actors were dressed up as disney characters gone wrong. The line for this was really long, but it didnt take that long for us to wait. Not so scary but i did get startled a few times. The down side of this place was that a girl actor, in the alice in wonderland part made a nasty comment about my bf so i cursed her out and told her that she was a dumb bitch since she had to work at a haunted house and couldnt get a real job. My bf got pissed off at her and ripped a part of their plastic fence down in that area. Offending someone is not scaring them. I wanted to report her but i didn’t feel like she was worth anymore of me or my bf’s time. Besides that one actor, this place is a good place to have fun and get scared.

This is one of my favorite haunted houses and I have been several times. All though it is pricey, the $ 35 includes all of the attractions. The hayride contains scenes of all the popular horror movies and is put together very well. The haunted houses contain all the features one would expect. The haunted woods is also a lot of fun. As far as being scary… well that depends on the individual. I don’t get scared but I still love haunted houses– especially this one.

I haven’t hit all the hay rides and haunted houses in the area, so thought I was in for a fun and spooky event, especially since friends who work at the hayride lauded it.
What a joke. Sorry guys, I adore ya and understand your loyalty. .. but have you ever been to a DECENT hayride?
The only redeeming factor for the entire event — ride AND haunted houses AND maze — was the fire breather. Over-​priced for the drivel that high school kids can accomplish better. If you want to go somewhere close, Shady Brook. Otherwise, Eastern State for your frights. Run far, far away from this tragedy.

This is the original Buck’s County Haunted Hayride and «America’s Most Horrifying Woods.» Price of admission is divided into 3 different packages. For $ 44.00 you can do all 3. Children are less and depends upon age.
1. Riding on a Hay padded wagon and through deep woods, they startle you by jumping out in their horrific garbs. See spooks and gargoyles, monsters and things that go bump in the night!
2. Miles Manor is too cool to miss! It’s a very old run down, spooky and Haunted House. BOO! ;+} Sorry, I couldn’t help myself! LMAO
3. Valley of Fear is the walk through the Dark Deep Woods. Am I scaring you? Just hope there is a Full Moon to guide you along the way! You’ll hug everyone in sight ;+}
The Valley OF Fear & The Original Haunted Hayride proceeds all go to the Phoenix Sport Club. If you don’t want to tag along, you can enjoy a Brew and the Games on 12 Ft. screens in Pumpkinhead’s Picnic Grove. Call or go on line to reserve your tickets.
Parking for the Haunted happenings is $ 5.00 and proceeds go to their Youth Programs. The Phoenix Sport Club is nice. Wedding receptions are held there. They have an Olympic sized outdoor pool. Coupons are available for 3 for 2, by going on line and for certain times.
Expensive and scary! How much will you pay to SCREAM!!! I love goosebumps!
