Impact Thrift Store

This store is big, nice, organized and clean. The clothes are organized by type, then size, then color, so its easy to browse. I also love the bric a brac section for plates and mugs. One start removed for prices being a little higher than other thrift stores, but I feel it’s worth it because the cleanliness and quality of the merchandise saves a lot of time that is usualy wasted hunting through crap in other thrift stores.

I have always loved a good thrift store and this one really has to be the largest I have EVER seen! They have used and new items, TONS of furniture in very good condition, excercise equipment (like bikes and treadmills), and then all the regular stuff like clothes, books and knick knacks you find at thrifts.
I came in looking for stuff to wear for a rennaissance faire, and found a few good accessories, but what I thought would take me a few minutes turned into almost two hours of strolling along the aisles of books, shoes and wedding dressses!
The thing that really impressed me the most is how organized everything is as well. I always go into a thrift expecting an old people smell, lots of dust andI to rummage… well that is not the case here. They have many workers going around organizing things and restocking aisles.
I do agree with some other reviews that it is a hit or miss on prices. Used clothing seems to be marked drastically down, but other things were a bit overpriced for a thrift store — like a $ 35 old vacuum (I’ve seen them for $ 5-​$ 10). The book prices were the same, although I got lucky and scored a great book for $ 2!
Overall, I would definitely return, especially since feeding a shopping addiction of boardgames and cookware is easier in a thrift store than it is at Target. Happy Shopping!

Very nice thrift store. The items being sold are in great condition. They have a huge variety of goods and lots of items on stock.
However I came in there specifically for curtains and rugs and could not for the life of me find either (there were a few floor rungs but they looked worn). Ironic since they have basically everything else.

Although it does get quite busy, I can see why.
They have really nice clothes for great prices!
Student discount? Of course.
I do wish they had more petite sizes – but it’s hard to find that anywhere.
They even have NEW clothes for really low prices.
I wish I had more time to spend at this store with my busy life, but you should visit when you have the time!
Also, the associates and cashiers are super friendly!

Great place to come for furniture before heading to the big box stores, they even offer delivery… everything is kinda expensive unless it’s on sale. Very organized though

Love it, the biggest thrift store I’ve been to & best furniture selection I have ever seen in a thrift store. along with books (in order!). I mainly go to look thru the brick brack for vintage or items to repurpose as its also large section in categories. deffinatley worth stopping at!

This place was great for about 10 months when it first opened. It really WAS. Once in a blue, I’ll find a good deal, not great, just good, on maybe a piece of furniture.
I used to stop in at least 3 – 4 times a week because they always had new things daily, now I find the same old, retro, scratched up pieces of furniture sitting there for weeks. Now, I go there once in a blue and I leave with either nothing, or 1 or 2 things I may have found at a reasonable price.
The clothing and bric-​à-​brac prices are insanely overpriced. I’ve bought brand new clothes at much cheaper prices (with the same label), so why buy it used at a higher price? Especially their «high end» line of clothing. *Children’s clothing always has great sales.* Same goes for the bric-​à-​brac section price wise.
Employees look miserable. Try finding one to help you. Good luck. Cashiers can’t be bothered. Ask a question and their usual response is «I don’t know». They don’t try to find out either.
When they first opened, everything was nice and cheery, great atmosphere. Now, it’s as if everyone is walking around like a zombie going through motions. So, much for the christian like atmosphere they pretend to put on. It’s all about the money now.
Basically, all the more negative reviews you’ve read on here about this place falls true.
I’d love to see this place get back to how it was when it first opened. It really was a damn nice place to shop at for a bit.

I love this store and I always find kitchen items or things I can use for crafting. However, I think that their furniture is way too overpriced. The new furniture is the same price as major retail so what is the point? The other used furniture is hardly worth the prices listed. I also bought a pack of t shirts and they ended up being sized wrong and not fitting. They also cost the same amount as Target t’s. Anyway, I still love going here and I like the recent updates.

This place isn’t so bad, I think if you’re specifically looking for furniture this is a good place to go. A lot is outdated, but there’s some good finds if you look. Not too long ago they had a working dentist’s chair for sale even, and lots of ancient computers that looked like they dated back to the late 80’s.
However, it’s a bit expensive here for being a thrift shop, so be prepared.

Despite its size, their is little to be found at Impact aside from picked through, overpriced goods. They’ve been unrolling more and more items stickered as «brand new,» at prices comparable to, or in some cases higher, than retailers such as Walmart.
The «Book Nook» is a separate area reserved for «new,» unread books in bulk quantities, marked anywhere from 1.50 up to 11.99. Many of these books are overpriced, long outdated, and some can found in the normal book sections. The next tier down is the «Amazon Hot List,» for donated books of higher caliber. 2.00 used to be the standard price for these paperbacks, although it has recently jumped to 2.50. Often these books are worn or slightly damaged. The best books of all are reserved for Impact’s actual Amazon page, where they sell for the going price or higher. As for the regular unmarked book sections, the pricing has changed too, as it seems to do quarterly now. Softbacks are up to .75, while hardbacks have hit 1.75.
Although DVD prices remain consistent with other thrift stores at $ 3 for movie and $ 6 – 10 for box sets, oftentimes when I open a box to inspect the disc, it will be damaged, or as in one instance completely cracked, making it completely unusable.
While once a haven for cheap but quality furniture, Impact now markets brand-​new furniture too, with sofas and chairs from $ 250 – 500 or higher. The used furniture section has greatly shrunk to make way for the new. The jewelry section remains expensive as well, as prices haven’t reflected the dropping price of gold. Special clothing sections have popped up, with $ 100+ jackets and a variety of marked up women’s clothing, including $ 18.00 a pair jeans. Regular clothing sections have remained largely the same, but still higher than many other thrift stores.
Bric-​à-​brac has seen another increase too. Not long ago, the 50 cent price point became .65, and now these same items have jumped to .79. And the ones initially priced at .75 have become $ 1.10. There comes a point when it just isn’t worth paying .80 on a .50 item.
The worst offense by Impact, however, is their coupon– formerly 25% of, the discount has dropped to just 15%. Couple this with the standard price increases throughout the store, and you’ll find you’re paying quite a bit more for something that cost much less not too long ago. For instance, the Amazon Hot List softback jump from $ 2.00 to $ 2.50 is a mere 20% increase. However, if you factor in the reduced coupon value, that brings the difference to 30%. Thats a rather hefty increase if you ask me.
Up until recently, service had always been very friendly. Lately, I’ve found employees to be irritable, particularly at the register. Three times now in the past month, a rung price has been inconsistent with the established unmarked price. And each time they either refused to accommodate, or did so very begrudgingly.
Various sales discount certain goods, but the savings rarely exceed the value of their coupon, usually rendering them useless. Clothing and books are often discounted based on a confusing system of colored stickers. «Treasure Hunts» consist of supposedly unsorted goods for $ 1 apiece, although most of the items included aren’t worth even that. Barcoded items, and terminology like «store manager» make Impact feel more like a corporate giant than an actual charity. With its brand new items and constant price hikes, I’m wondering when Impact will remove the «thrift» from its name.

I live in Philadelphia and decided to make a trek out here this weekend. Arrived mid-​afternoon to be pleasantly surprised by free hot dogs and free Rita’s – yay, Impact! My thrifting partner and I browsed the silent auction items as we snacked. The coolest items in the store are, by far, in that area.
We found a couple of hilarious books that we would’ve taken home had they not been exorbitantly priced – for example, I’m pretty sure that hardcover volume on Traveler’s Diarrhea is never gonna leave the shelf with a $ 9 price tag. I live near two large used bookstores and have limited shelving space so I didn’t spend much time looking through this section, especially after noticing the prices.
The clothing, as other Unilocalers have mentioned, is picked-​through and mostly overpriced for the quality/​age of garments. I did, however, manage to find an incredible vintage Escada suit that I plan on using for a Halloween costume. I wouldn’t have paid the marked $ 12 for it, but with half off the yellow tag I was satisfied with spending $ 6.
The kitchen/​bric-​à-​brac and furniture sections are definitely where the treasures are to be found here. The next time I need a dresser or kitchen table with chairs, Impact will be my first stop. I also found several kitchen items that I was in need of just by taking my time through the bric-​à-​brac sections.
Although I appreciate the free food (who wouldn’t, though?), I will probably skip this Impact and explore the other three locations in my future weekend thrifting endeavors.

This is a great place to root through if you’re on a budget. They have a lot of furniture to look through– some are what you would expect, but if you keep an eye on things you can find some gems! They have wardrobes, desks, chairs, televisions, as well as a huge selection of books (including some great cook books), plenty of clothing– pretty much anything you can think of. The staff work hard to go as quickly as possible at the registers, and for bigger items they have several people who are happy to help load into your car.

If you’re into books, CDs or DVDs this place has an outstanding collection.

this is thrift store is THE BEST for furniture. I furnished my entire apartment with their furniture, kitchenware, linens, microwave ($ 10!!!), vacuum, and tons of new clothes. theres so many ways to get coupons and discounts. plus, all electronic devices are tested, and furniture is professionally cleaned and disinfected. I go as often as possible and never leave empty-​handed

I was initially pleased by this store, the latest addition to the Impact! family (which I love so well due to their other three locations), but I’ve consistently been disappointed, on the whole, each time I go. Their prices seem to get higher each time I go there. Their selection is noticeably more picked over than their other locations. I feel like when I look at the bric-​à-​brac section, it’s a real chore to find something in good shape and at a reasonable price. Many shelves seem to go empty, they are that picked over.
Not everything is horrible about this store. You can find some really inexpensive furniture here, but it’s generally mixed in with exorbitantly-​high priced furniture to either side of it. Their saving grace is the 25% off coupons, which I believe you can only now get if you (A) donate something, or (B) get on their email list, because the coupons found on the back of store receipts are now just 15% off. Either way, I don’t bother taking the trek down to this location anymore — the other 3 are much more worth your time.
Update: I increased the rating from 3 to 4 starts, because the bric-​à-​brac section has improved, and I feel like the housewares, kitchen stuff, appliances, clothing, etc are well-​stocked every time I go. I guess maybe it just took them a while to get used to how much stock they needed to have to support that huge store.

I am reluctant to share this review because I want to keep all the furniture for myself! Anyway, this is my go to place for furniture at good prices. If I go here anymore than i already do I think they might slap a volunteer vest on me and hand me a handcart.

No longer my favorite go to place for bargains. I am a home stager always looking for quality goods at great prices but can’t rely on Impact any longer.

Big store. No bargains. Everything has been picked over well before being put out on the shelves. Jewelry over-​priced, in my opinion. Not a good place for treasure hunters.

This supermarket sized thrift store is the place to go for furniture, bric-​a– brac and books. With the level of cleanliness and organization, you honestly almost forget you’re shopping secondhand.
They have department and storewide sales often and attract a lot of customers because of the volume of donations that produce a high turnover rate. I find Impact most ideal for books, which are organized perfectly for browsing.
The employees and volunteers are friendly and helpful. Impact as a company does good work in the community, and isn’t shy about reminding their customers that their purchases are making a difference.
I come here about once a week and won’t be stopping any time soon.
Helpful tip: Weekdays are a lot less crowded than weekends, which makes for an easier time hunting for bargains.

I was surprised by the size of this thrift store. It is huge! They have a large furniture section and if I ever need furniture in the near future I would check this out. I saw some cool retro sofas that I would have scooped up if I had a place for them. There is a silent auction for vintage/​collectable items that will help generate more money for charity. Their clothes are very neatly organized for a thrift store. They have everything not only categorized by men’s, women’s, etc., but also by size. I find this extremely helpful because it saves you wasting time looking through incorrectly sized clothes. I wish there were more vintage clothes but overall this is a great one stop thrift shop for furniture, clothes, books, dishes and odds and ends!
