Scrub Oaks Contemporary American Pub

I agree with earlier reviews about this restaurant having an identity crisis. Sports banners and children’s art, mixed with flat screen tv’s covering every possible sports event covered the walls. We came in on a Sunday at 5pm and the first impression was not a good one. At least 6 employees gathered at the bar talking loudly amongst themselves for at least 30 seconds with 3 of them making direct eye contact and never acknowledging us. Food was marginal. The sausage chili was delicious! Spicy and filled with good sausage. I would definitely recommend it, but the rest of the food was not exactly outstanding. Server was very sweet. We will give this one another shot before making a final decision.

This kills me to write a bad review for a place I’ve frequented for the past 3 years… but they’ve been slipping for a while and tonight just pissed me off. took my wife out for a rare date night and ordered two appetizers…50 minutes later, I flag the waitress down and tell her we’re leaving because our food never showed. she then brings out one appetizer and asks if we want it in a to-​go box… uhhhh, yeah. we’re leaving! She boxes it up and I have to remind her that we ordered another appetizer (the cheese plate) that we never got… she then goes to the kitchen and brings the cheese plate out on a board. (thought I made it clear that we were leaving!)…so she goes back and tosses it into a styrofoam box. I get home and what I found inside… not a cheese plate. more like some cheese chunks and two slices of salami (not what the menu description was). Waitress brought the check and didn’t make eye contact or apologize… just pathetic service. I’ll suffer mediocre food when the atmosphere and service are great… but lately, this place is 0 for 3 on food, service, and atmosphere. There’s a great new Mexican place that just opened down the street… might try that next.

Ordered Bacon wrapped chicken appetizer, the chicken was completely raw! Showed to waitress, after I bit into it, she apologizes with a look of disgust on her face. Didn’t offer any discount, no apology from manger or cook, just really unprofessional. I mean damn I am a salmonella freak, and I tried to remain calm after the raw chicken went into my mouth. I will probably experience explosive diarrhea, but no worries Scrub Oaks, no apologies necessary, I mean it’s just my ***hole that will be on fire.

What a wonderful establishment, My husband and I visited on Mother’s day and there was this AMAZING! They had a buffet style brunch which had unique tasty food! It was pricey, but I felt as if we got our moneys worth plus more!!! The owner was there and treated us great! They had mimosas and I can’t wait to visit again!

The best place to eat in Fayetteville great service/​food and the pork rinds appatizer is awsome!

The food is nothing special. The bar is where it’s at though. Service is always amazing though. So, if you want to drink and don’t really care that much about the quality of the food, go for it.

Awesome food.
I recommend the salmon Caesar salad and the grilled entrees are so good!
Appetizer: Buffalo chicken wings… Perfection.
The risotto is delicious also as a side.
Everyone is so friendly; the staff and the customers. The staff recognizes you after the second time and takes the time to greet you.
Next time, I will get the filet Mignon, pork chops or their famous lobster penne pasta.

I’ve been coming to Scrub Oaks for 5, maybe 6 years and all I can say is, the menu, the menu, the menu. The menu is hot or miss lately … sometimes the menu is fantastic, sometimes they add horrible things and sometimes the quality of a meal they were formerly excellent at goes down. Sometimes their changes are not a good idea — they used to serve amazing, unique french fries and they now serve just regular good fries — and sometimes their changes are fantastic — new beers and such. I have a favourite server, but it’s awkward if I come in with a new boyfriend because the servers are used to us «regulars» and it’s obvious that they can TELL that I’m with someone new. They’re not that great at making you feel, well, like you’re not being judged while you eat a meal. This place is hit-​or-​miss, but it’s one of my spots. I’ll probably always come to this place and I’ll probably always give it 5 stars even though it probably won’t ever QUITE deserve it.

We have been here twice. Both times great service and delicious. They are family friendly. The menu has both affordable and pricier/​fancier stuff.

My favorite place in Fayetteville, great food, drinks and service. Good atmosphere. Only bad thing is the air condition, when sometimes it is very cold there.

I’ve been coming here for four years and I have not been disappointed with the food or service. I am, however, somewhat disappointed with the menu. For the last four years the menu remained relatively unchanged — until recently, when I am moving out of the state. The restaurant is large and clean.
The new additions to the sandwiches, entrees, and appetizers sound amazing. Wish they made these changes earlier. The fries have changed. The restaurant used to serve shoestring style fries, but now they serve the stereotypical fries. Still taste good.
Service has always been good. However, if you are not a real regular or friend of the servers, you might feel somewhat isolated.
Recently, the added Guinness and a few new beer selections on tap. Again, should have been done earlier.
I’ve been here for lunch, dinner, and just appetizers — all good.

This is a great restaurant. The food and atmosphere are awesome. Sometimes they have live bands that play which is a cool addition. It has a sports bar feel with fine dining mixed in. Always a good time.

This is a large, clean comfortable restaurant where the bar is separated from the dining areas. There are five tv’s, non of them loud. Football paraphernalia is hanging from one of the walls.
Families, singles and couples were dining there, when we arrived.
We decided to ride 7 mi. off I95, to have a nice meal. We were traveling all day, arrived for a warm meal, and were pleased to see comfortable seats and lovely dishes.
More surprising was my first course, cauliflower and leek soup, a deliciously textured liquid with a drizzle of olive oil. If that was all I ordered, it would have been satisfying enough. The dough of the cheese quesedia I ordered was delicate, and the filling contained fresh vegetables.
I may never ride southeast again, but if I do, I will stop here. Getting back on I95 seemed a more direct route, as we proceeded south from the restaurant.

The food at scrub oaks is awesome. The restaurant however has a bit of an identity crisis, unable to decide whether it is a sports bar or a fine dining experience! Service can be hit or miss, but if you like gourmet food this is a great place.

Tried this restaurant based on the recommendation of the staff at the Fairfield Inn and was not disappointed at all.
Food is very good and the staff was awesome.

This is a pub-​style restaurant, but functions as a neighborhood café most of the time. During game nights, the bar can be pretty hopping.
We have dined here twice, and were completely satisfied both times. Both times, the service was prompt the entire time and courteous. Orders were accurate, and hot and fresh. One time, we ordered something that was not on the menu, but we thought could be concocted based on some of the other menu items: bourbon salmon. They gave it a shot and it came out absolutely perfect and delicious.
Because the bar area is located so openly next to the main dining area, I’m giving this a 4-​star rating for lack of ambience.
Great for date night, or lunch for family or meeting with friends.
Sometimes live music and trivia night. Least busy on Tues, Wed, and Thurs nights, unless it’s a game night.

One of the better places in Fayetteville! Their food, well everything my husband and I had, was exquisite. Plated fabulously and the bartenders are sweethearts. Definitely a hidden gem! Reminded me of being back in park city, Utah. Great ambiance!

Tried this restaurant based on the recommendation of the Fayetteville Observer. Food is very good. I tried the Filet Mignon which was outstanding with a sweet potato and asparagus. Food is a bit expensive, but very tasty. The restaurant caters to an older crowd and is very quiet. I enjoyed the change of pace from downtown establishments.
As a sports bar, there are plenty of televisions and a decent beer/​bar food selection. I would be willing to try it for Sunday games. I will definitely be back.
One last note, be sure to try the fruit cobbler. It is one of the best I have ever had!

Meatloaf was all stuffing… prices are comparable to pierros… go to the Italian restaurant next door

I would score higher if it was just based on weekend fish and chips with $ 2 beer, but I tried some of the other dishes and it brought the rating down. If you want to order extra sides, there is a sticker shock of $ 5 and it’s only a few spoonfuls… I got the sliders and I’ll have to say, it was pretty uninspired. The fries were shoestring and over fried to the point where the burnt taste over powered any resemblance of potato.
The décor seems like they put some money into it, nice and clean. Sort of confusing as you see the bar with TVs around the bar and dining area, so your not sure of its suppose to be a bar or fine dining (prices would reflect on more of an upscale eatery)
Overall meal, I ate it… I paid, but didnt leave feeling like it was great. The cobbler was mushy and sickly sweet. But I’d go back for the fish and chips but its only served on the weekends.
