OTBP is a Steampunk themed bookstore & Emporium that specializes in new and used books, especially of the steampunk genre. We also sell steampunk jewelry, accessories, and clothing in the emporium. We have many events, classes, and workshops and also serve as a community hub. We are far from ordinary… just like you.

History

Established in 2010.

Original opened on shiawassee & Orchard Lake Rd., OTBP moved to our current Grand River Ave. location about a year and a half ago.

The first reviewer clearly didn’t understand the concept of Off the Beaten Path Books. The place isn’t SUPPOSED to be like a big chain bookstore!
Off the Beaten Path Books is a Steampunk bookstore, and a real throwback to the independent bookstores that are rapidly going extinct. If you’re looking for friendly, knowledgeable service, great books (especially in genres like steampunk, science fiction, mystery, etc), and a vibrant local community, this is the place for you. The owner is constantly hosting events of all kinds. Even if all you need is a comfortable place to read or work while enjoying delicious, local sodas and coffee, this is the place for you.

You call this a bookstore? This place is ridiculous, they don’t even know how dumb they look. They sell their mother’s clothes and toys in the back of the dingy «bookstore.» Who does that? Lame. I wouldn’t call this a bookstore. A garage sale with random junk and 50 year old books under a roof fits the name better. Please do not waste your energy to come to this store. Chances are, if you’re looking for a particular book, it’s not gonna be in this place. You’re better off doing your clothes shopping here…
Cannot wait to see what new store is going to come and replace this dump.
