Fast Cuts Plus

I had a very bad cut from an Avon salon that I’d patronized for over a year. I needed a fix immediately and couldn’t wait for an appointment at other salons in the area, so I searched the web. I found very nice reviews for Carolyn at Fast Cuts, but I was skeptical about coming here because the prices seemed too low. I decided to stop in and I found Carolyn cutting and styling someone’s hair. The result was beautiful, so I made an appointment for the next day. This happened in September, and Carolyn has been my stylist ever since.

I took my less than two year old son in for his first haircut here and it was a wonderful experience. Carolyn cut his long hair in just mins and kept him calm through the whole experience. He looks like a handsome gentleman now. Thank you to Carolyn! I’ll be seeing you for his next trim!

They messed up a simple buzz cut. Now I have patchs of long hair all over my head. They also messed up my mom’s hair by bleaching it and making her hair blonde when she wanted it to be red. How do u mess that up. Idk but I would highly suggest u to go some where else.

I had an appointment to get my hair colored a strawberry blonde. When I walked in, there were 2 stylists — the older one got the color mixed for me while the younger girl worked on another customer’s hair. Finally the younger stylist (I believe her name was Tara?) began putting color in my hair, and the other stylist left. Halfway through, she ran out of color and «couldn’t find where her coworker put it». I sat for about 20 minutes while color developed on half of my head and not the other! The stylist was panicking and just decided to «whip up something CLOSE» to the color she had already put on half my head. Needless to say, she really screwed up my hair. I looked ridiculous. Half of it is the color I wanted, the other half is pink. The manager came to the store about half an hour later and offered to fix it, but at that point I was DONE. I was mortified. Do NOT trust the stylists here… Completely unprofessional, and they even had the nerve to charge me for it! I would’ve been more satisfied had I bought a $ 10 color from wal mart and did it myself.

Inconsistent hours.. Rude staff. Owner let’s stylists fight and argue right in front of customers. Was given an attitude because i didn’t have an appointment when it clearly says «walk-​ins welcome» on the front of the shop. Will NEVER go back to this salon again.

The worst place that I have ever been to in my life. Got the most hated hair cut ever. The lady was probably experimenting her first cut on me. She dropped her scissors nearly ten times, gave me a cut behind my ear and also a terrible look.
Visit this place only if you want to end up in a state of shock!

This place is awful! I went in on a whim based on the 5 star Unilocal review. The employees probably filled it out themselves. I should have left the moment I went in. All the stylists looked horrible. No style, all dressed like they slept in their clothes and all their hair was not fixed. The girl who cut my hair had dirty flip flops on with the ugliest feet and chipped polish. Plus she had a cigarette burn on her foot from earlier. And she had two perm rods in her hair because apparently she was considering a perm. What person under the age of 80 gets a perm? She sprayed water all over my shirt while washing my hair and then gave the worst consultation ever. Basically just said «what did u want?» I had originally wanted a haircut but I changed my mind to just a trim. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough! My haircut was awful. Even with just a trim I could have done better myself. When I asked her how long she had been cutting hair, she said «long enough» her station was disgusting and dirty with hair in everything and the counter was all sticky. I understand this is a cheaper place but the owner should be ashamed of themselves. I will never ever go back. I will drive an hour and a half to my old hairdresser any day which is exactly what I did to fix this awful cut. Lesson learned. If I could give zero stars I would.

Took a risk by going to this salon to get my hair done for prom just based on the reviews on here. Absolutely loved the experience and my hair! Got exactly what I wanted, the people were all really nice, no rush at all, and best of all it was affordable compared to other salons. Really glad and will most definitely return.

I have been a client of Carolyn’s at Fast Cuts Plus for 3 years now. I have gotten everything done from waxing to wash blow dry and style, simple trims and whole new hairstyle hair cuts (I had Carolyn cut off over a foot of hair once and left HAPPY!), conditioning treatments, glazes, foils, full color hair, ombré color, and even my wedding updo! I’ve even brought my mother in law here and she can be a pain (as lots of in-​laws are!). My mother in law was so happy with her cut, and she was even happier with how well the cut kept its shape even after growing out a bit. Carolyn even suggested a daring violet peekaboo highlight for her bangs, and let me tell you how awesome it looked with her salt and pepper colored hair! It looked professional and mature, yet cool and stylish.
They are also really awesome and quick with my son’s hair. The owner, Wendy, and Carolyn really know how to cut his hair well. He has 2 major cowlicks, and they disguise them perfectly every time. They are also super patient with their clients, especially kids. Carolyn once showed my son all of the barber tools she was using on him and how they worked. She talks with him and keeps him calm and comfortable and engaged the entire time. And after his cut, Wendy welcomes him to the candy bowl for such a job well done.
Hair is such a personal thing and people tend to be very radical in opinion about the way it looks– they either love it or hate it. What I love about this salon is you don’t have to leave unhappy or disappointed, ever. If you are honest and open about anything you’re not 100% happy with, the stylists will work tirelessly to satisfy you. I always feel that my opinion is valued and listened to. One time, I was not totally happy with the way my side bangs looked and I wanted a steeper angle. Carolyn let me explain myself, and within 2 snips, it looked exactly how I wanted it! If you’re not happy, speak up! These ladies take this business and their clients pretty seriously and will help you get what you’re looking for. If you bring in a picture of what you want, they will honestly tell you how it will look with your face shape and hair type, and might suggest a few alterations to better suit you. I’ve even gone in and said, «I want my hair up to my shoulders, I want to keep my side bang, but please do something new to it. I trust in Carolyn so much because time and time again she’s been able to suggest great cuts to lengthen and compliment my round face shape and volumize my thick, yet finely straight hair.
I have been coming here regularly for 3 years and I can say with confidence that Carolyn knows my hair better than I do. I recommend this place to everyone because you get the mom and pop family owned shop feel, professional stylists that really honestly care about what they do, and great prices. Why pay a ridiculous 50 plus dollars for a haircut when you can come here! They also offer specials and coupons so be friends with them on Facebook to learn more about those.

This place is AMAZING!
I have long, thick and very full hair and am always weary of someone cutting it. This place is simply amazing and there is no need for me to specify which professional I need to see. I have also taken 3 of my son’s there and they do a fine job with them as well. I doubt you can find another extremely reasonably priced salon with this much talent. And, as a bonus, if there is a wait you can always grab a bite at Subway or do some shopping at Highland Park Market. Just tell them that you are going in for a cut and they will store your items, hot and cold, in the proper place!

Cuts for both my toddler and me? u$ 27. (To anyone but the IRS: we may have tipped a reasonable amount.)
And, our stylist (Carolyn) gave us both a fashionable cut; we’re new here from NYC and… sorry, just any old cut is acceptable, but something FUN is what’s desired.
Jonna’s hair came out AMAZING. Weeks after the cut, she still gets compliments.
And, mine is a challenge, and I asked her for something very specific, and she did what she could, and I’m very happy with it.
There are no play areas, no toys… but my daughter were in and out in short order, and not one tear.
