Tyson Glen Devonshire Square

Having lived in several apartments since relocating for work 7 years ago, I am completely in awe of my current residence at Tysons Glen Apartments in Falls Church, Virginia. Both the office staff from the manager to the leasing agents are outstanding and the maintenance staff always quickly responds to requests. The grounds are clean and lovely. There is a dog park conveniently located and plenty of doggy areas which are always supplied with bags to clean up after your pets. The pool area has a small pool for younger children and a larger pool for adults. Next to the pool is an amazing patio area to entertain guests, cook out or sit around with your family and chat. There are comfortable couches and seats that gives a sense of being seated in your living room while watching the stars. There are always residents using the patio area to meet, especially families, which gives this property a sense of community that I have not felt living anywhere else. I highly recommend checking out this property if you are looking for a place to live. It is located close to Tysons Corner and a convenient ride to Rt. 66, Rt. 495 and off Rt. 7. There is a shuttle bus available to get you to the West Falls Church metro station. In addition, management offers fun activities for us like movie nights, pool parties and craft events. There is a play area for children which was recently upgraded with a swing set and lots of areas where you can grill. Young and old live here, it is a neighborhood, not just apartments. I have no intention of looking any place else, especially for the competitive rent prices. This gem is tucked away from traffic and I have always felt safe living here.

Tysons’s Glen/​Devonshire Square has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I have had issue after issue since moving here last Fall and am counting down the days until I can move out. Maintenance requests are ignored or not completed properly, then when you call to inquire or complain they just blame another employee and tell you they can’t do anything about the problem. I have had ants in my apartment for 3 days, I was told the exterminator would be by today, but when I got home no one had come. When I called the office, they said it would have to wait until next week and suggested I buy my own Raid to kill the ants in my bedroom in the meantime. That leaves me 10 days to deal with ants in my bedroom and absolutely no help or solution from Tyson’s Glen. I also have had an issue receiving mail and packages here. I received an important, time sensitive document via Fedex that was delivered to the main office but no one called to inform me that it was delivered there and I did not get the document until I went in to pick up a different package 3 months later! I would not recommend living here to anyone, what an awful experience.

I had a lot of technical issues with my unit while living here e.g. It was uncompromisingly cold in winter months due to the placement of my unit. For a while my complaints went unanswered until finally the property manager ordered new windows and new patio door installed. This is really above and beyond service, but unfortunately my unit remained cold the next winter. And so I complained once more and I must say that the managers and maintenance people are willing to do whatever is necessary, whatever you ask from them that’s reasonable they will do… my experience was not good no matter what they did but still they continued trying. They did not stop and they did not ignore my issues. With the benefit of hindsight I now see how it was simply a bad unit with bad placement, unlike the hundreds of other units available. I won’t name the unit out of respect for the efforts of this company. But I will state that if you are interested in renting here, don’t get a ground unit in the back of the complex. Otherwise it’s a great place to live even though you can hear everything around you through the walls.

I want to like it here, but unfortunately we have had nothing but a terrible experience and tonight is my breaking point. After a lovely weekend of finally feeling settled in our apartment (after a HUGE list of problems — see below) I took a shower and when I got out the hot water would not turn off. We opened the wall behind the shower to turn off the water, and it STILL would not turn off. We have lived here for 1 month as of this coming Wednesday, October 8. Do yourself a favor, read the list of problems below and then decide on your own if you want to go through this hell.
If you don’t enjoy moving into an apartment that is not ready the day you arrive, having many issues come up while you are trying to unpack in your new home that keep you from being able to unpack, showering for 7 days without hot water, being treated extremely unprofessionally and rudely by the company’s Director of Residential Properties, Teresa Osborn who only offered us «a onetime $ 100 credit for any/​all inconvenience due to the delay on our move in day» — even though there have been issues far beyond the delay on our move in day… and now NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN OFF THE HOT WATER IN YOUR SHOWER, then stay far far away from this place.
List of problems we have experienced since moving in:
–Apartment not ready when we arrived causing us to come back 4 hours later
–No hot water in shower for 7 days
–No carpet in den
–No working dishwasher
–The apartment smelled like paint because it had been painted that day
–Had no microwave at all
–The patio sliding screen door was off track (and is off track already again)
–The front closet door fell off tracks
–There’s paint splattered on the bathroom wall tiles (and this is still there)
–We had moldy bathtub hardware
–Closet racks were improperly hung without anchors, and fell out of the wall while trying to unpack
–The sliding patio blinds were falling down
–The toilet flusher was not properly installed causing water to spray out the back of the reservoir
–There was an open tack strip in the linen closet, which we stepped on in bare feet
As I mentioned above, on top of all of these issues we are now waiting on emergency maitenance to arrive on a Sunday night to fix our hot water that won’t turn off in the shower, instead of cooking the nice dinner we were about to prepare. Lovely way to end the weekend!
Teresa Osborn has been useless in this entire situation and sent us an email where she said «I have completed a full in depth investigation of all issues you have brought up to our attention as well as had a meeting with a team. I strongly believe that we have gone above and beyond to assure that you residency at Tysons Glen is enjoyable» — she never apologized, and she could not even pick up the phone to call us. Then when my fiancé called her, she was extremly rude to him.
The property manager has been very friendly, and so have all the maitenance staff that we have interacted with. If they were all in charge of deciding appropriate compensation for this hell then maybe we wouldn’t have such a sour taste in our mouths. We have a 1 year lease and really hope things will get better from here on out because the people around us are friendly and it’s very dog friendly. Everytime I think everything is fixed and am ready to move on and stop being angry something else happens…

AWESOME place to live! Dog friendly, very clean apartments, competitive pricing (best value per sqft during my research prior to moving in) modern appliances, no bug issues for me, big pool, gym is small but has all the equipment I need, very easy parking, friendly management and staff. Option of apartment or townhouse.
I called the office to ask where the spigot is to attach a hose so i can power wash my patio, within 2 days they power washed it for me! That’s great service and very appreciated.
My apartment has an outdoor ground-​level patio with a mailbox next to my door, these conveniences help me feel like I have a house instead of an apartment.
QUIET AREA, very close to Trader Joes and Ledos Pizza, practically a mile away from Tyson’s, you’ll never run out of new places for dinner.
Very satisfied with this establishment and I highly recommend.

We moved into a townhouse after it had been renovated. It was beautiful and immaculate. Unfortunately we had an issue with our neighbors that could not be resolved. Tyson Glen worked with us and let us out of our lease a few weeks after move in. The manager Josh is really fantastic. He advocates for clients and is very approachable. This is also a great location and great amenities. We were very sad it did not work out for us to live here.

We are moving out of this complex after two, mostly good, years.
Pros:
1) If you have to live in the suburbs, this is a great location. It’s less than a mile from the 495 and the 66, with the 123, 267, and other major streets just a hop skip and a jump away. There is a shuttle to the West Falls Metro. There are also many places within walking distance: a Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, a library, a video store, several places to eat.
2) There are washers, driers, and fairly good Kenmore appliances in the units (at least the «renovated» ones).
3) The prices are reasonable and the units remarkably spacious for the area.
4) Dogs up to 100 lbs are allowed.
5) There is a very nice guest suite available to rent.
6) The staff is generally pleasant.
Cons:
1) It rained INSIDE my unit yesterday for about 12 hours. It wasn’t even raining OUTSIDE. Water was falling from the ceiling in the dining room, living room, hallway, and bedroom. It took three calls and close to an hour for someone to come investigate the issue. I was told that the problem was fixed and that the leaks would stop.
About three hours later the light fixture in the dining room started POURING iodine colored yuck water. It took two more calls and a visit to the office to get anyone out to help. In the mean time, I looked in the vacant upstairs unit. There was about an inch of water covering the entire floor, and it looked like the ceiling was about to cave in due to so many leaks.
When I told maintenance that I had seen the great flood upstairs, they changed their story about the nature of the problem, but still had to be talked into letting me borrow tarps to cover my electronics. They actually wouldn’t give me tarps until my husband spoke with them (AARRGG!). They just kept insisting that the problem was fixed.
The office manager apologized and offered to let us sleep in the model unit (as there was a leak directly over OUR BED), but didn’t offer any other kind of compensation. My husband and I both missed work to frantically move our possessions around when new leaks
sprung up.
Overall review: Great location, good value, select a top floor unit.
