Skyline Auto Service & Transmission

The only place I take my Hondas for big maintenance. KC is friendly, honest and does good work. He regularly quotes me 1/3−¼ of the price I’d pay at the local dealer, and he only does work that needs to be done. About the only issue I’ve run into is Skyline’s hours, which are strictly business hours (and Saturday). You can’t come on Sunday and you can’t come late at night. But that’s not a big deal — it’s a small business and I can’t expect him to be here at all hours of the day.
After 2.5 years of coming here I can confidently say that if you have a bad experience at Skyline, it was probably a misunderstanding and you should give KC another shot.
His brother’s body shop next door also does good work — we’ve had a few dents fixed there for cheap!

Honest, knowledgeable service. The place is clean inside if you have to wait, and everybody was nice. They will give you a ride within a short distance. Highly recommend. Trust is everything.

Went here based on Unilocal reviews. Work done was good. I was not misquoted in regards to the cost and I didn’t feel that I was being hustled as I do when I go anywhere else.

Mr. Kim is wonderful, we go to Skyline for all our auto repairs. Today he replaced a tail light and wouldn’t charge me. He even asked after my mother.

If you’re looking for an honest affordable and knowledgeable mechanic this is the place for you! This mechanic has handled all my car problems (from plugging tires, fixing AC to repairing transmission) and will not try to sell you a bunch of additional repair services and «flushes» you don’t need. I have about a dozen repair shops closer to me but this place is worth every minute of the drive from my house.

Great shop — took my car here very recently. Mr. Kim is an honest man who does very good work at very reasonable prices! This shop appears to be affiliated with Jack’s Auto Body next door, which also does great work at decent prices.
If you’re looking for an honest mechanic in NOVA this is your place! Only issue is if no one is with you you’ll have to bus or cab it to the Metro, which is a bit of a pain as there is no Metro station at Bailey’s Crossroads.

Skyline auto is my go to for any bodywork repairs and maintenance work. They consistently provide great service and always undercut the Toyota dealer’s shop on price. I have a 2005 Toyota Prius that I orginally took in for a dented bumper. Mr. Kim was very nice and quoted me a price lower than any shop in the area. Work was clean and I was pleased. I realized that they also do oil changes and other maintenance work and have been going to them ever since for routine maintenance. They have the best bang for your buck. An oil change that would take 2 hours at the Toyota shop takes 45 minutes here. I will usually go to the Toyota shop for a diagnosis and then take all the recs back to Skyline and have them do the work.

I was so excited when I saw this place had good reviews and it was close to my apartment so I thought I definitely have to give them a try!
The garage where I usually take my car too does not deal with transmission repairs, so I called this place and they said I should bring my car so they can take a look and give me a quote.
Firstly finding the place is a nightmare if you unfamiliar with the area there is absolutely no visible signage, except for a small paper written sign on the door. So I finally found the place and dropped my car off and expected to get a call the next day but no that didn’t happen, I called and left a voice message but still didn’t get a answer. Now it’s Wednesday my cars been there since Monday and I still have no call or diagnosis of the problem. I finally call again Wednesday midday and I get a very unresponsive answer, no clear problem with what it actually wrong with the car, just oh you may need a computer box and if we put one it may not work and that may not be the problem. This makes no sense, obviously I brought it here to get an accurate diagnosis/​quote to determine a solution to my problem, but no luck. So I just took the car to a different place hopefully I get a proper diagnosis.
This place wasted my time. Terrible service and will not recommend it. Really surprised by all these good reviews. Has the place gone downhill since it was last reviewed mmmmm???

This is where I do my regular oil changes and other car related maintenance work. I have never been disappointed and have always been pleased with the level of service KC and his staff provide. KC also drops me to the metro on the days I need to get back to work. Btw as of the new year/​2014 they have moved into a larger space right next door.

A little bird told me that this is where Dave Grohl got his auto work done when he was recording the Foo Fighters’ amazing album, Wasting Light, in his home town of Alexandria. My band was on tour when it needed to have our bus looked at for some weird noises and possible transmission problems. Mr. Kim did a great job looking over everything and making sure we were good to go without having to fork over too much of our merch-​sale money. Great service from an honest business! I wish this shop was in Seattle so they could be my regular shop. Alexandria, you’re lucky to have Mr. Kim and Skyline!

Excellent service… fair prices… honest too. Mr. Kim runs a good business. Took my car in to have rotors and pads replaced. Took minimal time. I’ll be going back. Highest recommendation.

I got my alignment & AC fixed here a few months ago. Mr. Kim is honest and hard working. No hassle, no up-​selling, no BS. My car was done on time and I was treated like a 1^st priority customer. I highly recommend his services.

I have not written a review in a while, so shame on me, but no better place to pick back up than Skyling Auto Service. I took my 2005 Chevy Aveo here last Thursday because the brake light was on (and had been on for about a month… oops!) When I dropped it off, they said that they would call in about an hour to give me an estimate, and sure enough, an hour later they called. They said that by front brake pads were very worn and I needed to replace the front brakes and that they would just clean the back brakes. I had dropped the car off around 2, so I didn’t expect to get it back the same day, but they said they would have it ready by 5:30. When I went to pick it up, the price they quoted me was the same as the cost, which is always nice and my car was ready to go. Overall a very quick and easy trip to the mechanic. And bonus, my car now has functioning brakes!

I am extremely satisfied with my visit to Skyline Auto Service. All I can say is that they are honest, fair, and fast. I went to the shop near the Crossroads area and when I arrived, my vehicle would not restart once I powered it off. To make a long story short, my alternator was shot and I agree to have the work complete asap so that I could get my truck fixed in the same day. I was blown away by the speedy service and reasonable price for the part and the labor. This place is legit and I highly recommend it!

We took my girlfriend’s truck here for a transmission rebuild last year and KC was great. When he did the rebuild, he recommended replacing a couple of other parts (clutch included) while he had it torn down. Well, one of the parts was going to take a week to arrive, but he offered to put everything back together and have us bring it back at our convenience to install the last part. He did not charge us to tear it apart again and he stuck very close to the original quote.
A few months ago, I noticed her rear axle was leaking and brought the truck to Skyline. KC replaced the seal and bearing for $ 200, which was half of what other shops quoted.
Skyline is now my first call if there’s any work on my truck I can’t do myself.

A great auto shop!
I was calling around trying to find a good tire replacement center and stumbled on this place. They are attached to the jack’s auto body shop, which received a good amount of 5 star reviews, so I wanted to check them out. I’m really glad I decided to go with this place in the end.
Every phone conversation I had was professional and informative. The guy on the other end quoted me a fair price for the tires, and wanted to make sure I was happy with the ones he recommended. He gave me a couple of options and honest opinions about some of the tire selections. He arranged for the new tires to come to his shop (went and picked them up) so that they would be ready to install in two days after I had called.
He even offered to drive me to work after I dropped my car off with him since I was close by, and came and picked me up when the car was ready. I never once felt like he was pressuring me to buy any additional services or options, which I appreciated.
Over all, I would use this place again for any of my car’s needs. Honest and fair pricing as well, so I didn’t feel ripped off.
