I had passed this place several times and thought nothing of it. But when it came up as a breakfast choice on a Unilocal search, my husband and I decided to give it a try. So glad we did. The space is nothing to look at, next to a 7 – 11, not great signage, but its what’s inside that matters. We ordered 2 breakfast platters(eggs, meat, potatoes, toast) and pulled up a mis-matched chair at one of the open tables. The food was fantastic. Very simple, yet extremely well done. The potatoes were soft and seasoned perfectly, the eggs were fluffy, and the toast was that great light brown. And the prices really can’t be beat. They also make their own ice cream which came in a multitude of classic and interesting flavors. I look forward our next visit.

Mike’s is my family’s favorite sandwich shop in Falls Church. Good, hearty portions, including free chips, and very reasonable prices. Gluten free bread and lots of veggie options too, including fake chicken and bacon. We love the delicious, homemade ice cream as well. Very casual and family friendly.

Our fav greasy spoon weekend brunch place. The omelettes rule! Only downside is that parking is haphazard.

Found this place a few months ago. Breakfast is good and lunch is good. The lady who runs the front in the mornings, weekdays — attitude is crappy. She used to be friendly but this morning she was flat out rude. I come here every few days… thinking this may be my last time. It’s a small diner I get that but a smile and thanks doesn’t take that much effort. What I find interesting is that she interacts with certain people one way and others different. After reading other reviews I wonder if we are talking about the same lady. Shame…

I’ve lived in this city for 32 years now and have seen the transition of this small restaurant from lazy sundae into mikes deli and now into mikes deli lazy sundae. Aside from its schizophrenic tendency here’s my honest review. The food is good. It’s probably one of the better deli shops in the area. Having said that, here are my complaints. Disregard the website or any other source of store opening and closing times, the workers don’t abide by it and neither should you. I can’t tell you the times I’ve come when it should be open only to arrive to a dark, closed, empty store. Was it a holiday? Nope. Was it bad weather? Negatory. Then what was it? Laziness and poor management. I mean what else could it be? If you’re going to consistently open later than the times you’ve posted up on your website maybe it’s about time to change it, hmm? Secondly, the entire staff save for a couple are Spanish speaking including the manager/owner. After ordering my meal I walk to the side to wait for my meal to come out. There’s no one there but me. I hear the manager tell the cook something in Spanish and then directly look at me and say«chino». When she realized that I heard her, we make eye contact and she immediately looks away, I’m assuming in regret for making such an ignorant comment. I don’t think she or they are racist, perhaps she just Donald trumped it for a split second but regardless it has been etched into my «chino» mind. FYI I’m not Chinese just like all Spanish speaking people aren’t Mexican. So to recap: food is decent, staff is mildly racist, management/workers are slack and need to get their act together. I guess that’s why they call it lazy sundae. Cheers.

THEREIS A PACMANARCADEGAME! Bring a few quarters! :) If you want a great local joint this is your place! I love their breakfast options in the AM and their ice cream after dinner. True local flavor: if it’s hopping, they extend evening hours. :)

This our go to place for good freshly made food at a reasonable price for FC. We love their homemade ice cream, sandwiches and soups. The waitstaff are typically detached — but will warm up to you if you are a repeat customer. Some other reviews claimed the place was dirty — It’s certainly not pristine, but I would not call it unhygienic. We haven’t had the breakfast so I can’t comment on that.

I’ve been here for breakfast several times and it’s always great, cooked to order. I’ve done breakfast plates and sandwiches, and it’s just great quality and tasted great. And yes you can mess up breakfast and they don’t mess it up. I’ve given it 5 stars because I’m rating the food but you know I also like the dive atmosphere. Oh, and the prices are more then reasonable especially compared to the Pancake House, IHOP and Celebrity Delly. And I love CC’s omelet at celebrity.

This place has a pretty decent breakfast, at a great price point. It’s not fancy shmancy by any means, but if you want to grab a quick breakfast or lunch, without being waited on, this is your spot. My go-to is an egg white bagel with cheese and it never disappoints. The steak and cheese sandwich hits the spot as well.

wonderful food– sandwiches, soaps, breakfast, and ice cream– at wonderful prices. we always call in our order and pick-it-up… can be slow when they are busy, but if you aren’t in a rush, it’s not a big deal. having breakfast there is wonderful… i love feel of this place. although everyone that works there is nice, some never seem to smile, unless you do so first. no one is friendly outright, but that’s okay. Great variety of sandwiches and ice cream. Also love that they serve you on real plates for breakfast and give you a cup of coffee in a ceramic mug. These types of places seldom exist anymore and are a treasure.

For breakfast I had the corned beef hash, it was bland. Not impressed by the food or service. My husband purchased a breakfast sandwich for a homeless man that was outside and the ladies running the counter seemed very annoyed that someone would do this. I’m not interested in spending money at a place that is not compassionate.

Wow, is this place is overrated! I love old school diners/delis and curt, old fashioned service, but Mike’s Deli doesn’t offer either. Counter service(from the guy I assume is Mike) is rude and unhelpful, and the place is just plain dirty rather than old school. The huge open trash bin is parked right by the napkins and condiments(which are the cheapest that money can buy, btw). In addition to the blah service and dirty atmosphere, the food is nothing special and isn’t even particularly cheap, so I don’t understand all the raves posted here. I like that they serve breakfast all day, though the«toast» is a pale shade of off-white. Pancakes, French toast, and omelets are pretty good, but it will cost you another $ 2.50 if you want a side of bacon or potato hash. A small bacon, egg, and cheese will run you $ 4 + tax. Sandwiches are all about $ 7 and come with chips. The order/pick up system is also a disaster. It seems like you place your order and wait for your food to be yelled out, but this system doesn’t work if you want to snag an outdoor table. Every time I come here, I see angry customers coming in and claiming that their food never came out. So if you’re at an outside table, bring a friend to hold your spot and be prepared to stand around inside for 10−15mins while your order is prepared.

Very good ice cream! Pistachio is awesome! Peach and sprinkle of sunshine(lemon) are good as well. It’s a little divey but don’t let the exterior scary you away.

Cute little old school looking diner that looks fit to be on ‘diners, drive ins, and dives’ located in Falls Church City. Stopped by to try the steak and cheese sub for lunch. The sub was definitely above average and pretty darn good. Bread was on point and the sandwich was a generous portion. The interior seemed a bit on the dirty side and disorganized for an american owned place. The woman at the register was not friendly at all. No smiles to give and she very unenthusiastically half wiped the tables inside with a very dirty rag as she frowned to the world. I know its a sammy joint and people grab and go but it really makes a difference at these mom and pop places if the people are smiling and friendly.

I had a great sandwich here. The Cali Chicken. The service was relatively quick — they bring sandwiches and orders out as they’re ready, so if you’re with a group, you likely won’t all be eating at the same time. Which is just fine. The location isn’t the cleanest and probably hasn’t been updated since the deli started. But I am sure that’s purposeful and part of the character.

LOVE the chicken cheesesteaks here. My whole office has deemed this place one of their favorites for both breakfast and lunch. It’s awesome that they serve breakfast(especially scrapple) all day. The only reason they get 4 instead of 5 stars is an issue I’ve had with ordering. Since it’s become an office favorite, I usually call in our food before going to pick it up(ordering for 4 or 5 people, you know). Usually the person answering the phone has a pretty easy time of understanding, but there have been a few times where whoever answered was really struggling so I gave up and went in instead. If there were an online ordering system, that would be PERFECT, but until then, they’re still my go-to place for a great cheesesteak!

I’m always wary of tuna anywhere… even my house! Their tuna salad is absolutely delicious! And they make a mean grilled cheese for kids too!

Small deli near a gas pump next to 7⁄11 which you will miss if you don’t know to look for it. The cash register is run by college kids who are enthusiastic to serve you and very helpful. Seems like a family mostly working the grill with the kids helping out at times. They will bring food to your table mostly. Parking could be an issue during busy hours(breakfast/lunch) but it’s a private lot and usually is okay. A pretty extensive menu consisting of breakfast, subs, sandwiches, wraps, coffee, milk shake and home made ice cream. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious. They will make pretty much anything you want the way you want it done. The omelets are amazing and the pancakes fluffy and flavorful. They have kosher hot dogs which you can add for meat to your food if you are so inclined. Delicious french toast too. Coffee is hot and aromatic with free refills. The subs and sandwiches taste well done with flavorful sauce and meat along with grilled vegetables and cheese. They have a variety of bread. Usually served with chips and a pickle but I highly recommend getting the fries instead. I could marry these fries and live happily ever after. Okay wedlock might be a bit too much. Co-habitation maybe. The only reason I give it 4 stars is the home made ice cream. They have a huge variety of flavors but if you get one that is not popular I have experienced it tasting a bit off. And by off I mean it tastes like it has been in the freezer for a while and doesn’t taste fresh. At other times I have had flavors which taste absolutely delicious. I got the honey flavor as recommended by the Puerto Rican lady at the counter who apparently makes this ice cream herself and it was a refreshingly awesome and fresh flavor. The milk shakes again will be a reflection of what flavor ice cream you choose to make them. Food comes out quick. Seating is usually limited inside the deli but they have benches and tables outside which is nice if the day is sunny. They have take out which is convenient. Unisex restroom in the back for customers only in decent upkeep. Prices won’t break the bank and a good meal will cost close to 10 $ excluding ice cream. I’m a fan and a regular. Will come again whenever I’m in the area. My only suggestion would be to make less popular ice cream flavors in smaller batches to keep them fresh.
