Bike Club

I bought a bike here like 5 years ago, and passed it off to a friend when I moved away. He Just e-​mailed me to say the bike is doing great. As I recall the guys here were really cool.

BUYER BEWARE
I called up the store to see if they carried bmx bikes. The man said he did. I asked what brands and he said I need to come check them out. I told him I live far and need to make sure I know what I’m coming for. He said he didn’t give a **** I was appalled. He hung up. I was so in shock I called back to see if he was serious and he said he was busy and if I wanted to come look. I Asked his name and he said my name is your boss. Im so in shock I’m not a person who likes to get into verbal altercations. I asked to speak to the manager and he said his boss is dead and again told me to go **** myself. This bike shop is TERRIBLE I hope the man with the Asian accent gets fired I was excited when I finally found a bike shop that sells bmx bikes even though it was all the way in VA I was ready to come spend atleast 500 in that store. I’m still in disbelief that this happened. I’m literally in shock I’ve never had that happen.
I really hope they do something about this because this is still the only store I’ve found that sells bmx bikes and I’d still like to come whole there but I won’t come while he’s working there.

This is a great family run bike shop. Along with Bob’s Bicycles in Poolesville, MD this is by far my favorite shop in the area. Not very fancy not very clean, but great service and affordable bikes. Why go to a corporate chain give these guys a try.

Great first experience with Phuoc the owner. He took the time to educate a novice on his options. Feel like the story he told matched my research and his pricing was in-​line or better. I like the fact that he can do repairs quickly if needed. I went to a few other boutique bike shops first, felt weird, too many posers. This shop… has to be seen to be believed, no frills is an understatement but that’s okay with me, keeps the cost down. The guy has good karma too…
I’ll be back for a bike for my daughter who’s expressed interest in joining me once in a while.

The store may not look like much, but Phuoc, the owner has been great to me. He recently fixed a flat tire for me, and to my bad luck, I ran over a piece of glass later than day and got another flat. I was not a very happy camper with 2 flats in one day, but he fixed it the 2^nd flat for free, even after I told him that was not necessary and tried to pay. He also fills my tires with air whenever I stop by. He’s friendly and helpful, and since it’s just a few blocks from my house, it’s easy for me to go there. I’ll keep going back.
Update 8.26.17**** I’ll keep the stars, but update the story. After riding that day (of the last repair), my bike sat for a few weeks. Admittedly, I don’t ride often. But, when I decided to take the bike out again, that very same tire was flat again! What are the odds of a flat in the same tire three times (3 rides) in a row? I brought it back to the store, and the tire was fixed again, this time with a $ 20 fee (originally asked for $ 23). I’m not saying it’s an unfair price, I’m just updating my review to tell the rest of the story. Perhaps my tire and me had very bad luck, or perhaps the glass that caused the flat was not previously cleared out. I’m clearly not a bike expert, or I would have fixed my own flat, so I don’t know the answer.

This place has always been great. The owner is an expert mechanic and tunes my bikes perfectly. He knows exactly how to fit a bike to a customer. He will not sell you what you do not need. He never charged for my kids’ bikes tune ups. He had sold us 4 wonderful bikes, perfect sizes. He is busy, a mom and pop shop, so it may look messy or he may be busy, but it’s a great place. Very old school, real hard worker.

Horrible customer service is all I can say. SMH the owner is a thief if you ask me. I had credit for a bike with proof and he refused to honor it. Taking his ass to civil court.

I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE A ZERO BUT Unilocal DOESNT LET ME. I traded in a surely karate monkey a 1300 dollar bike for a credit of 275. The owner does not want to uphold the credit that they owe me this is a terrible establishment that will steal your stuff then ask you to call the police. BC BICYCLES IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED. PHUOC PHAM IS THE OWNER DO NOT TRADE IN ANY BIKES FOR CREDIT HE WILL STEAL THEM AND NOT GIVE YOU CREDIT. ILL SEE HIM IN COURT. This business and there poor customer service stole from me, they would steal from you.

This store is an asset to the community. I recently had a very shady Unilocaler message me a few times trying to dig up dirt on this business from other Unilocalers listed as living in FC. Turns out he had a bad experience and seems to be taking it personally as a vendetta to bring this store down to the ground. I think the reviews speak for themselves. A few negative reviews from many years ago, but mostly positive. I work within walking distance, and just took a trip to the store and met with the owner personally, who is a very nice guy. He told me he recently got rid of a lot of his staff, which may have been the cause of customer complaints in the past. He obviously cares about his business and it’s a shame that one man with a grudge is trying to take down this mom and pop shop. The world needs more mom and pop shops, not less.

I bought a used boys bike from Steve, the manager, on Sunday for $ 75. Two days later, the back tire gets a hole in it after my son was riding around the neighborhood. I took it back and the mechanic said that the bike was worth $ 150 and he wasn’t happy that it was sold to me for $ 75. He also said that there is no warranty on used bikes and wanted to charge me $ 38 to replace the back tire. I told him that wasn’t fair and he offered to give me my money back. I took the money, and will take my future business elsewhere. Buyer beware – they might be good for repairs, but any company that doesn’t honor the goods that they sell will lose more than the sale – they have also lost my business.

Great shop to get used bikes and parts. Especially if you’re on a budget. It is a real bike shop, unlike these so called «bicycle boutiques» we have in the area. Dimitri is the man!

Great service, dot waste your money on the commercial stores who only care about pushing product. These guys are bike enthusiasts.

Angel is the man. He built me a custom bike to fit my height. We used a different part for each component of the bike. He made everything feel comfortable. He even made half the bike carbon. He recommended the the seats that would be perfect for a long slow ride. He chose the perfect size tires. I always wanted to go really skinny but he explained to me in full detail why you would go a little wider and the pros and cons for each. He showed me how to service my bike and even sold me a utility tool that was in expensive that could take care of most quick fixes. He added the correct saddles. He just made sure I had a one of a kind experience. He has the game down and is willing to share his knowledge. I would recommend any one, new or old to the sport, to go speak with him and just learn. Here is the thing, he’s happy to speak with you for hours but that takes up his time. So if you are going to ask a bunch of questions and get educated, please tip him. He’s so nice, he’s not gonna just leave you hanging or ask for money but his time is important and how he makes his money; so if you talk to him for an hour, give them man 20 – 30 bucks maybe even more. He literally gives you knowledge. It’s worth the money. I went not knowing anything to being able to talk to experienced bikers in just few sessions. I love this place. I stop by just to chat. All the guys are cool and love what they do. I have two bikes from there and plan on staying with them for all my biking needs. Just try them out. They can build you whatever you want, buy you whatever you need, swap out your old bike and give you credit towards a new one, service your old and new bikes, and sell you parts to service your bike. They will fix and service anything. They will make your old bike run like new. My custom Fuji bike is amazing. Thanks guys.

Left my bike with Bike Club in December for consignment sale since I was moving. I repeatedly called the Bike Club for two months with no response (didn’t answer the phone and didn’t return my messages) and I finally returned to VA and went to the shop and asked about my bike — the proprietors there said they ‘seemed to recall that bike’ and they offered me 100 bucks (if they cash in the drawer) and I said that was completely insufficient and I asked how much they sold it for — no answer, so I had no choice but to report the bike stolen. The clowns at Bike Club stole my bike and will probably get away with it — will post the police report later. Good luck.

The staff is beyond unprofessional. I was called a very rude and inappropriate name while I was still on the phone. Never again.

Going to bike club is a breath of fresh air. I live in DC, in Adams Morgan 1 BLOCK from City Bikes, and I have vowed to never return unless I have an emergency. I just happen to occasionally work out in falls church, like once every 2 months, and I usually bike and metro out there then take the Custis trail home. I had been doing this on a clunky hand me down mountain bike, and was ready to upgrade to a hybrid that I could commute with daily. On one of my random falls church Saturdays I decided to stop in to bike club and see what they had. Angel and a young guy (Adam?) greeted me promptly and answered my questions about hybrids, listening to my needs and suggesting various options. We talked about price, and they were flexible and friendly. I mentioned I had this mountain bike I wanted to get rid of, and I didn’t really even know they did trade-ins…well, all said and done they sold me a wonderful Fugi Crosstown for around $ 275 + the mountain bike. This was EXACTLY the price range I needed, the experience I wanted, and such an easy transaction. No haggling with random strangers on Craiglist to get rid of my old bike, and I know they’ll be able to fix it up and find it a good home for someone who actually rides trails!
Angel got me all set up with a comp bottle holder, rode the bike himself around the parking lot then made some tweaks, and was just genuine, chill, friendly, and all around great. For once in this area I felt GOOD about giving a bike shop my money.
I’ve had my bike for about 4 months now, and it’s been amazing — I’m biking almost every day to work and I love it. I’ve been back to bike club twice; the first time my front tire was knocking and Angel wasn’t sure why. Well, he gave me a new wheel. For free. And it was a better wheel than came standard issue on the bike. Again, a wonderfully chill interaction with folks just being good to their customers.
Today I was in again since I was in the area, just stepped in for some grease on my chain and a brake adjustment. They did great work, charged me a low fee with no ‘tude. I have absolutely no idea why that is so hard to find in this city, but it is, and Bike Club has my undying devotion thanks to their vibe.

I will never be going back to this shop after obnoxious BC staff treated me rudely today. Have been bargain shopping here for used bike parts for years but this place has gone way downhill and is no longer your friendly neighborhood bike shop. Don’t waste your time.

I love this place! I live in Falls Church, and when I decided to buy a bike after not ever having one as an adult, I decided to stop in. Angel greeted me right away even though he was helping other customers (see how that works, Fresh Bikes?) and then showed me three different bike options. He ran down all the technical specs but was not at all condescending when I asked questions. I ended up buying a used hybrid which I love! They’ll order any additional parts you need if they don’t have them in stock — I went back today for a rack that they ordered for me. I’m totally a fan for life!

Brought my bike in because it’s 10 years old and was having some issues. I know nothing about bikes. Also, my pedal were messed up and bent.
I brought it and and they said it needed a tune up for $ 90. I knew it may need a new crank but they didn’t quote me on that even though I pointed it out. I’ll let that go, but just some advice for them.
Anyway, they were able to work with my schedule as to when I could pick it up. They called me the next day at 5 to say it was ready. They did not tell me that they had to add the cost of a new crank so they should have told me that. I was fearful that they didn’t fix it before I got there.
When I arrived they showed me the bike and they DID replace the crank! Yay! My bike is as good as new! All for $ 116. Cheaper than buying a new schwimm bike! I feel like a kid again. Happy bike riding and healthy living!

Hahaha! It’s certainly a dump of a bike store. I got a flat tire on a sucky, rainy day in Falls Church and this was the closest bike hospital to the East Falls Church metro I could find, given I capsized about 3 miles away. When I got there, a Vietnamese dude named Phuoc, who helped taxi me in over the phone, welcomed me with proverbial open arms.
Being from California, I gasped when he told me it’d be $ 20 to fix the one wheel flat, because I come from a land where it costs half that. But he did it so fast and charmed me with some hilariously broken-​English stories about biking across the country, that it was peanuts to me as I was gaining back my ability to get to Alexandria to see North Korea play Brazil in the World Cup at a sports bar and meet up with, you guessed it, a girl for a bike ride down the Mount Vernon Trail.
Customer service skills is one of those things you’re born with — comes from having empathy for people and seeing things from their perspective and knowing what they want at the drop of a dime. Phuoc has that. Good man!
