I love this store. A Stone’s Throw. I have been going to this store for the last 17 yrs. My daughter lives in Fallbrook, this is one of the firast places I visit when I am in town. I have had Laurie make jewelry for me, ship jewelry and several boxes to me. I just received my newest bracelet from Laurie on Saturday. I am very happy with it. She mailed it to me. no problem. I saw a bracelet I liked in her store and I needed Laurie to make an adjustment to it. She mailed it to me . I love her customer service.

I read Rhonda/s review and laughed. I have done business with the owner of A Stone’s Throw for close 30 years. Yes, the hours the place is open are not like at the mall but the quality and service far outweigh that minor inconvenience. I work for a living too and know the hours they are open — I make time to go to the shop because I trust them, I know they give you real value and I also know they don’t try to sell sub-quality jewelry at premium prices. I think Rhonda is way off base in her negative comments. I have had custom work done here and can always find something wonderful when I am in the store. And, because this is a family owned business, they don’t stay open long hours and everyone needs a couple of days off. See, they work for a living too — I actually love their service, generosity, friendliness –the whole package. In a day and time when everyone is in a hurry, this place is a breath of fresh air. Rhonda’s review is totally ridiculous and I can tell by what she writes that her attitude is the problem… not the store’s.

Rating a retail establishment is a tricky thing. I like to look at the big picture. And, the picture is pretty much blank if they are not accessible. Do I like this shop and what it sells? Yes, I do. I would love to be part of the lucky folks who don’t work in the day, or at all, and can come here and shop. In fact, it is one of the only stores in San Diego County to sell the nearly the entire line of Archepellago products. Service? Well, they say they have free gift wrapping. What this means is, they have white craft bags with their logo hand-stamped on the front — and they will put your item in this bag with some colored tissue paper inside of it. Okay. This is not how I would personally choose to wrap or give a gift, but that’s just me. Are the people friendly when you come in? Sure. To an extent. You will receive a diatribe about how wonderful they are and how long they’ve been in Fallbrook and how much more they know more than you know about, well… everything, it seems. But, they are not mean or rude by any means. Even with ALL of this in mind, I still want to shop here. It is the best, and now, the ONLY place to buy a decent gift in this town. Problem, then? Well, they are rarely open at a reasonable time. In the last four months, I have come by to get an Archepellago diffuser almost a dozen times only to see a «closed» sign on the door. Like most of us who actually have money, we must do this crazy think called a «work for a living» during the day and most of us just can’t get our shopping done before 5:00. Who heard of a retail store closing at 5:00 until I moved to Fallbrook? They are only open until 5:00PM, frequently close before that time, and are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Given all of the businesses that have gone under in Fallbrook, this is apparently not a concern for A Stone’s Throw. They must be raking in the dough because I drove up to the door a couple of weekends ago on a Saturday at 3:00PM and they were closed!!! I give up.
