Quality Check Home Inspection

Tom did a fantastic job with my recent home inspection. He was incredibly thorough, with a good eye and a healthy sense of skepticism on the owner’s explanations of some issues. He spent a lot of time explaining issues and answering questions. He fit me in on a very tight timeline and on short notice.
Ultimately, the purchase didn’t work out, but I will be using Tom again on the next inspection!

Tom is a top notch home inspector! He has done two condo inspections for me, and I will be contacting him soon to do one more (hopefully the last one). He is extremely professional, thorough and his reports are excellent. He found major safety issues with the first property and a few smaller issues with the second property. The fees I paid Tom for his services was money well spent! He does a superb job and takes his time with your property, even going as far as inspecting not only the condo itself, but the foundation, land, decks, attics and common areas. If you have questions, he will gladly answer them. And he will even tell you how to fix the issues and how to avoid issues in the future. As a first time home buyer, we were nervous about the potential problems there would be in a new property. Tom was very professional and knowledgeable. He did his inspection throughout the home and then he took us room by room to explain his findings. Any issues that came to his attention, he explained in detail what caused them, how they could be fixed, and how to avoid similar issues in the future. He was very honest and even made us aware of some steps we should take for preventative maintenance. At the very end, he went over the report and made sure we were comfortable with everything. We truly got exceptional service from Tom. We will definitely hire him again as well as recommend him to others.

In seeking a licensed, certified home inspector for our home purchase in RI, we were referred to Tom Martin by a Master Home Inspector on the West Coast. Tom had gone through the same high level training as our acquaintance and came highly recommended. Tom was quick to respond to our request, flexible in meeting our turnaround time, and reasonably priced. Although he doesn’t normally service the part of RI where our new home is located, he is very accommodating to referrals. Both via phone and in person, we knew we were dealing with a professional and one who is looking out for our best interest. On inspection day, Tom arrived early to take time to inspect the area around the house and upon meeting he thoughtfully explained his inspection process. When the inspection was completed, Tom walked us through the entire house. As he explained his findings, we could see that he does a meticulous inspection. Tom also made a few suggestions for the house which are mandated in MA, where he is a certified inspector, however not required in RI. Even our realtor was impressed by the knowledge and information shared by Tom, who offered to be contacted if we needed any further assistance with the house. We received the full inspection report and photos of a minor deficiency via email the next day. We have actually contacted Tom several times in the three weeks following the inspection for his guidance prior to our home purchase. On each occasion Tom was more than willing to share his expertise and made excellent recommendations, which will continue to save us money and eliminate stress. There are many home inspectors out there and then there is Tom Martin.

Tom was very thorough and not at all «on the clock.». He always answered my calls and emails without question. We have purchased 2 other properties in the past 10 years and I would put him at the top of the list of our inspector list. When he had a family emergency he even referred in a colleague who was also great. He identified an electric panel that had been recalled in the 70’s for causing electrical fires. I feel safer in our new home for having worked with Quality.
