Hole in the wall… literally! Good place to get a drink, meaning beer because they can’t mess that up or can they?

I wanted this to be a decent place. The food is excellent (when Brian is working). It is close to my house. But is impossible to go there for a casual drink and a sandwich. The regular customers get service by repeatedly yelling at the bartender, and the bartender yells back. It becomes so loud and aggressive that we cannot stay.

I ate here last Friday, the place has been completely remodeled and looks very nice
we started with the Portuguese little necks, the sauce was amazing. I had the Portuguese steak plate, it’s up there with the best in the city. My friend had the pork plate, the food & service were very good.

I’m not hard to impress. I’m really not. You give me a beer and a nice bartender and I am in heaven. This place didn’t impress me at all. I don’t know what was up the bartender’s butt last night, but our bartender wasn’t so nice. In fact, the only thing she voluntarily said to us in an hour was one thing:
«Sondra»
Her name. And only when asked. Twice. From the minute we walked in she had a look on her face. I can’t even begin to understand why she didn’t like us. We are model bar citizens. We just wanted to go somewhere and have a drink and play some keno. I mean, she really made sure we knew we weren’t welcome. We had two drinks. But we had to ask for the second drink and only after she was done talking to someone playing the slots game at the end of the bar. I gotta say all in all we were pretty irritated. It also makes me appreciate the good bartenders. The ones that want our money. I cannot comment on the restaurant as the place is split into two. But I will say though that although somewhat confused, I liked the décor. It seemed that half of the stuff on the walls was old school Portuguese, and half was American bar décor. I can honestly say without a doubt that I probably won’t be back, as I don’t want to run into Sondra again. One last thing: I’m not a bartender, but it seems to me floating the alcohol on top of the drink is backwards. Sondra was doing that. But then again, I really don’t know. Also, as the hour that we were there went on, I felt a little better, because she was not nice to anyone it seemed.

A group of friends decided to try this place after reading the good reviews on various sites. First we ordered drinks one being a Margarita. After 10 minutes we were informed the bar didn’t have any Margarita mix. One of the specials was a combination shrimp and scallops fried or mozambique style. Two of us ordered that fried. They arrived mozambique style. Then throughout the meal, asking for spoons or drink refills or anything took a very long time to get. Poor service or maybe a bad night but there is no shortage of Portuguese restaurants in Fall River. Maybe choose one of those. I won’t be back to JC’s.

Nice clean establishment, with very helpful wait staff. Had Portuguese steak plate, I’ve had this at many other Portuguese Rest, thru– out FAll River but none can come close to this, it was juicy and cooked the way I requested, with hand cut fries and swimming in a killer sauce that was obviously made by some one with good food knowledge, will defineatly order again, My wife had the steak sandwich and was equally has satisfied. This is my second time eating at this restaurant and I’m now convinced that they know how, in a city where Portuguese restaurants are many, to put out quality and flavorful food and make you want to try other dishes. But don’t let me convince you, Try it for yourself and see what Good Food prepared correctly with quality ingredients should taste like. By writing this review and thinking about It I am going back tonite, and I’m sure I will have the same results. Can’t wait !!!

Great place in the heart and center of fall river Massachusetts. Has the great Portuguese feeling and great Portuguese food. Come see one of fall rivers best bartenders Trish. great place and plenty of jonnie Walker
